I play a game where i try to end every sentence with a question mark. Instead of saying "i like hamburgers" i say "do you like hamburgers" etc. You will find the conversation flows from there. It's a great screener too, because if you run into someone who only let's you ask them questions about themselves for a long time, get away from that person.
Try googling “Good conversations have lots of doorknobs” it’s a blog post that talks about using improv techniques to be a better conversationalist. It’s a great read!
"the most interested person in the room is usually also the most interesting person in the room." Be interested, ask questions, open facial expressions are your friend.
I had a 5-year friendship with a former coworker - meeting for lunch, boating, sports. Then, out of the blue, he didn't respond to four messages over a four month period. A common acquaintance told me he's still around and did not change his number. I guess I got dropped, but no idea why.
The times I have been abandoned by "friends" were almost always when I was going through some kind of crisis. In the old days those people were called "fair weather friends" ... only there when things are easy. Someone who will actually stand by you ... well, I don't think I have ever had anyone like that in my life, not even my ex-wife was on my side.
Hanging out with a new social circle this weekend. I’m a do my best to not be weird. Im very open minded but will keep it normie and mainstream as possible. No conspiracies, no politics, no R rated talk. No religion. No alien 👽 stories.
Adults are the worst about it. But it's really life changing when you figure out that this is the way to make friends. You gotta go out and try to do things.
This is a good video. Since I write on Substack about the Drama Triangle (such as the "victim mentality") I agree that people who are bettering themselves will reject people who want to play "victim" and complain all the time. The issue I have with meeting new people as an adult is that I've changed to a mostly vegan diet and try to stay away from processed foods when I can, as well as living in a rural location. Most of the events around here are centered around eating something (that I can't or won't eat). Also, I don't like alcohol so the bars would never be a consideration for me. And the things I'm interested in don't have classes around here. I may have to find something farther away in a larger city. But I've got other things to deal with before it gets to that point. I do meet people online, but I'd like to find more in-person relationships someday.
Bro this was 🔥 🔥 🔥 due to the accuracy and its great to hear this coming from a brother because I prefer to vibe with my people yet they tend to come with some of the vices you mentioned like not handling being able to handle their drinking and we are in our 30s 😢 had to distance myself currently looking for new friends that get this

Maybe its not direclty your own fault, sometimes its hard to know what causes someone to do something.
Coworkers are not your friends, consequently we also are very liberal in how we define Friends

Knew a woman for 35 years who did that. We used to go out weekly for years and years… she’s a drunk though
What you call a friend in US in other countries is called acquaintances. You US don't know what a friend is.
Hey Ed, big fan. On TH-cam you definitely need to add timestamps to your videos, the algo will push them way more with timestamps
Will do!!
This stuff is gold. Thank you. Truly a helpful plan, and it's so straightforward, but I've never heard it put all this succinctly, in one place.
Happy to help!!
i love that you always cite your sources in our videos. it's a breath of fresh air honestly.
If I don't do that, then I'm just another worthless opinion haha

It's a depressing cycle but it's sadly true

You'll find them. Once you're on point, it's easy to meet like minded people!
13:28 Sage advice!
You seem like an old soul as my grandmother used to say... It used to mean you have a great maturity of philosophy.
Solid advice
Great video
Dont be weird? Ugh. This one is my kryptonite
i'd also add that if youre trying to make friends, dont express strong opinions on anything cause someone out there is gunna see that as arrogance.
Break the law though. Go 1mph over the limit, yolo. 🤙
10:52, Dawg wtf 😂😂😂
