  • You see us use helical piles often but we've never really explained them and why we use them over regular footings.

How would these be inspected? Would a picture of the gauge on each pile do the trick?

you should do that for due dilligence anyway, but that is a great idea.

    Thank you useful info.
However, I believe the pipe diameter is slightly under 3" diameter and the helical plate thickness is usually 0.375in-thick.

Do they make it through rock though?

How does it do against rocks, in southern Ontario I can barely dig down 4’ without having problems with rocks Jamming an auger

I used helical piles when I redid my deck in Ilderton Ontario in June 2020 into hard clay. The guys were in & done in 3 hours no fuss no muss & as Jason said no waiting to start the rebuild. The clay was so hard 1 pile only went done 4 feet & the required pressure was hit & the torque on the machine was at max.
As for rocks since the pile can be reversed out & angled back in & then straightened out & this unusually pushes the any rocks out of the way.

Power foundation systems is an amazing company that specializes in engineering and installing these piles. If you're within a few hours of london ontario, I would recommend using this company, they aren't the cheapest company, but you get what you pay for. They guarantee their work for life.
