    I put about a maybe 400-500 gold fish in my pond, about 20-50 at a time.. they kept vanishing, some died.. but with no dead fish floating, the numbers kept going down, I stop taking care of it, and when I was finally draining it the last two fish standing was a big catfish and a tilapia. I never put those in. l still couldn't figure out where the came from. Lol. I brought the Tilapia to a Chinese restaurant to cook it with sweet and sour sauce, and ate it, and gave the catfish to someone. Lol

      A lot of lakes in man made quarries fill up with fish from when birds gather fish eggs in their wings and fly to other bodies of water. I've fished in quarries with massive catfish and bass

      Canu please explain how u did the liner around the water fall opening and what u used to seal it with .I also what to know how u ran the piping from the barrel that collects the waste from the pond.I also did my own pond its similar to yours but I need better filtering .Is your pond still staying clear.What did you use for the pipe gaskets

      @@junespears7564
      I did as described in the video below - bulkheads, flexibly PVC pipe, pond/aquatic grade sealant and rain barrel.
      Please keep in mind that if you use the barrel for your waterfall, cut down 1/3 of the barrel and use the top portion to make the faceplate for your waterfall opening. Of course, some stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers are required to attach them together.
      th-cam.com/video/irEQ3nKmaN4/w-d-xo.html
      I am currently running dual filter systems: skimmer-waterfall system and 3-barrel (with retrofit bottom drain) system. My water is clear and see-through to the bottom of the pond.
      Please check out my channel latest videos to see for yourself.
      Cheers!

      Well, is there anyone else that would like to see a remake video of this pond build? Please click like or reply to this comment to let me know.

    What if its raining? Where do the extra water flow?

    • @PTranProductions
      @PTranProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s still about 6” from the current water level to the top edge of the pond to accommodate any rain water. If the rain does fill up the pond, the water will overflow to the top edge through the rocks on the right side of the pond and down to the city rain basin at the corner of my neighbour’s yard.

    How much "watt" and "gallon/hour" your pump?

    • @PTranProductions
      @PTranProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Initial setup was with one Alpine Cyclone pump 6550 GPH 456W pump. However it was too powerful for the DIY skimmer (the shelves couldn’t not hold). So the pond is now run on two pumps - a 4500 GPH 220W pump for the skimmer and a 3170 GPH (24VDC 85W pump) for the DIY 3-barrel bio filter.

    The bio filter like can need only be 6 to 8 inches high and you'd keep more of a natural flow, watch aquascapes you learn so much, no exposed liner, no string of pearls rocks, since you went this far take a look it'll make maintenance so so easy and best clarity

    • @PTranProductions
      @PTranProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your comment! Yes, Aquascapes and the Pond Digger were two main sources that I got the idea of creating this pond. Due to limited space and budget, I was not able to have a long a low natural look of the waterfalls and not enough big rocks/boulders to cover the entire pond. :-)
      Yes, there’s still room for improvement and your suggestion is appreciated.
      I am planning to add a 3-barrel bio filter this summer.

    How does the water automatically filter? How did you do the filtration system? Or do I just not understand the physics behind this?

    • @PTranProductions
      @PTranProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The water enters the skimmer -> passing through the leave basket where large debris get filtered -> then passing through a filter media (which is now the green Matala) -> then water get pumped to the waterfall where it passes through a layer of small size gravels -> then layer if bio balls -> then another layer of small size gravels -> then the water falls back into the pond though the waterfall.
      That was the physics of my filtration at that beginning if my pond.
      I now also have the 3-barrel filtration system which enhances the water clarity of my whole pond ecosystem.
