I appreciate that you uploaded this video to TH-cam. I was born and raised in Sasebo, and I was only 14 years old in 1965. Your video reminded me of the good old days in my hometown.
Thank you for showing. I was born and grew up there until I joined JMSDF- kind a Navy. Unfortunately, I have missed Sasebo so far except back home per year, as I had been stationed at another base town- Kure for SUB and SUB Rescue service. 10 years workplace after retirement has been also far from Sasebo. One of my big mistakes is that I did not stay there.
Great video and thank you for uploading. I was stationed there from 1998-2010. I got lucky and got 3 4 year tours back to back. SASEBO Japan will always be special to me. Such great memories and great people. Close to Fukuoka city for good times there as well. Farewell Sasebo Japan. We will miss you. Hello from Seattle WA. MM2(sw)Reed J. U.S.N
Ah, the memories. My last time in Sasebo was July 4, 1967. I was on a tin can pulling some r&r after a couple weeks on Operation Sea Dragon. It was supposed to be liberty, but the OOD stopped me on the Quarterdeck and assigned me to shore patrol. I was furious. However, it turned into a memorable night ashore. I'm really surprised and glad to find such a nice video from that era. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing this great example of how is it was in the old days, when sailors were required to wear their uniforms while on liberty. I was on the USS Oriskany (CVA-34), from 1967 to 1970 and visited Sasebo many times. In my opinion, it was the best liberty port in Japan, due to its friendly people, great weather and good food (Kyushu Ramen is the best) .
Thank you‼️👍👍👍😊
It is great to see the stores and City the way it was in 1966. History is preserved
同じ意見です‼️😉👍👍👍
