Wadui Kuwadisa (Yotsudake) This is typically a group dance performed at celebrations. Each dancer wears a flower hat and is dressed in the colorful Okinawa bingata (stencil-dyed) Kimono. In each hand, the dancers hold two strips of bamboo (like castanets), collectively know as Yotsudake, or bamboo slats. Part of the lyrics translates to: "It is a happy occasion today; Lets dance together to the sound of the Yotsudake." " Striking the Yotsudake,, we are honored to come and dance at this celebration."
All studios have their version of this popular Udui Kuwadisa or known as Yotsudake because of the bamboo castanets that they are holding. Though it is a celebratory woman's dance it is about the Kuwadisa tree.
