Metropolitan SABA Speaks With AMEN at the 2023 DOMSE Parish Life Conference

Metropolitan SABA spoke to AMEN during their Annual PLC Business Meeting on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the Embassy Suites in Miami, FL. Our FIRST EVER in-person Antiochian Men Conference and Retreat has been confirmed! It will take place at the Woodland Christian Camp and Retreat Center in Temple, GA. The early bird pricing is $149 per person, which includes lodging for two nights and six meals. Check-in will be at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 7, and check-out will be on Saturday, March 9th at 2:00 pm. The meals provided will include dinner on Thursday night, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Friday. Registration cost increases to $184 on February 2, 2024. We will be staying at Woodland's "Junction Camp" area, which has 12 boxcars that have been converted into cabins and bathhouses. The central building is a two-level structure that houses the dining facility upstairs and a large meeting room downstairs. The large meeting room downstairs will be where we have our guest speaker events and worship services (morning prayers, Vespers, etc.). We plan to set up large Icons on the stage in the meeting room, similar to what you would see at a Parish Life Conference.
Junction Camp has a total of 18 lodging rooms with eight bunks each. All areas are climate-controlled with HVAC units. This venue will provide us with the ultimate camping and retreat environment to build brotherhood among all of the men who attend. All men attending this event will be bunking in rooms together, 8 men to a room with one man assigned to each bunk bed. The facility is very clean and well-maintained by the staff. Any clergy and men ages 18+ are welcome to join us, and it is not required that attendees are from our diocese. We are also encouraging men to join us who are catechumens or inquirers to the Orthodox faith, and it is not required to be an Orthodox Christian to attend.
We plan to have guest speakers, outdoor activities, sports competitions, workshops, fellowship around a campfire, and much more! For those who are unable or unwilling to participate in the sports competitions, we plan to have an indoor alternative activity planned that will occur simultaneously. This will provide options for those who may have any physical restrictions that will be attending.
This event will be different from any other Orthodox Christian event that has happened to date and will incorporate the best aspects of camping, conferences, and retreats into a first-of-its-kind experience for Orthodox Christian men! The theme of this event is "The Audacity of Manhood: Strength Through Virtuous Work."
