    Hi Eric
    Really enjoyed this video. I'm in the Lake District in the UK and have just spent the last two days doing 4h runs in the hills which can be quite rough and sometimes without paths. My whole approach has to been to keep it relaxed and keep aerobic. I like to check that I'm keeping it under control by checking how quickly my HR recovers whenever I have to stop to walk, scramble or check the map. This video though has reminded me to build in more strength training during this long winter build up. Hopefully I'll get in another couple of long hill days to make the most of where I am this week before I get home then I can start on a more balanced endurance/strength regime on a regular basis. At my age, I really need the strength training!
    Many thanks for the reminder. Rob

    Hi Eric. I love your videos. In particular, because you don't just share your vast wisdom but, much more than that, you share the trails, the surroundings, the spirit. You take your time, nature's time, you don't rush it, you breathe and take a moment. I can almost feel the chill in the air and smell the undergrowth. It's wonderful, thank you very much!

      Wow, thank you this means a lot and I am glad this comes thru a little. I want to create this balance of coaching content and nature, and hopefully more wildlife to come.
      Thanks for the great comment, it really helps me to keep doing these.

    Another killer info video Eric! Wanted go get your take on MAF base building, where athletes can take months working at a low HR and low intensity. Phil.M claims that higher intensity efforts and or strength training during base building can work against you. I personally still strength train as I love it and keeps me feeling better.. thanks in advance and keep up the awesome vids love em!!

    Hi Eric, can you write more about the 8 heart rate zones? The CI book only list 7 zones, hence the question. Is this last zone is something mentioned as "finish line burst" in BTR2 ?

      I second this ask. I would love to hear more about your heart rate zones. HOw do you set them? LTHR? MaxHR? HRR?

    How often should we be doing “strength” bursts in our base work? Hill strides every run or like 2x a week?

    Super useful infos and superb sights on those trails! Thanks a lot for sharing Eric.
    Do you recommend training with high cadence and sticking to the Maffetone method for the easy runs?

    Hey Eric.e How do you recommend running in winter? Should we forgo trails for roads, keep at it on the trails, switch to snow shoeing, or a mixture of all of the above?

    • @NewMexicoDawnRunner
      @NewMexicoDawnRunner ปีที่แล้ว

      In line with this question… Eric, what shoe/s do you run in on snow?

    Food intake from stupid carbs to carnivore / keto was the biggest lever for me. Everything else was a f*ing waste of time. The running world is full of red herrings and error of attribution.

    I have a herniated disc in my lower back. Doctors/therapists etc are all telling me I can’t run anymore. Running does aggravate the herniation, and I miss running so much. Anyone here manage to continue running despite herniated disc issues? 😢

    • @Spaxcore
      @Spaxcore ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check out the Simple Mobility Method by Tom Morrison, I don't have disc herniation but I've heard others have had success with it. It focuses on ROM and strengthening over just pure flexibility. Good luck.
