A good analysis. Just to add, the degradation of the environment due to unsolicited construction activities has added to the woes of the people, is also a factor resonating in the valley. Point regarding people are OK with the removal of Article 370, is not correct. The undercurrent is hamaara time bhi aayega. Under threat and use of force apparently militancy in the valley may have been put under control but unless statehood is restored, chances of winning hearts and minds of common masses are bleak. The intention of the government has to be beyond suspicion.Unrest in Leh has also to be factored in.

Rajdeep ji. I am a KP and have heard you through today. Some of take aways you pointed out are correct but some are not. For example you said that people are angry because it has become a UT. No that is not the case. Those people are angry who have enjoyed political, money & militancy power prior to 2019 and feel helpless in a UT as all the powers lie with centre. There have been issues with administration which have alienated general masses, otherwise UT period would have been a remarkable one. Second the fear in public is genuine but only for those who lived and earned by anti India rhetoric. Thrust me if fear is taken away, old situation will come back in a month and the Bijbihara cricket league will vanish like smoke.
Thirdly don’t live in a fools paradise that Rahul Gandhi is an influence in Kashmir and his Mohabat talk holds sway. Rest assured, Kashmiris think that he is a novice whom they can manipulate and show superficial support to him because they believe that he is opposing Modi and if he comes to power in India, he will restore them their old position where they will again flourish as they used to be.
