    Every time I've heard Dianne tell her story, she told it exactly the same way, down to the smallest details. Unbiased truth.

      @Wildberry Jam Ultra Cosmic She admits she was a minor "character" in the story. But that doesn't discount her book, which is much more about how a 14 year old could be pulled into a cult and how she personally was affected by that type of life. She was assaulted by him and testified against him in court. It's an amazing story. But a much more personal one. It's not a true crime book. It's a memoir. The first section about her own family is also wild.

      @Wildberryjamband Agree with you except for the minor part. I have nothing positive to say about Lake and I call BS on her entire "recollection". She should never have been allowed to profit from a book. She's a liar, a manipulator and should have been prosecuted for something.....perjury? As a kid, I was working at 12 for a neighborhood farm. You don't even want to know what I think of this woman!

      @Wildberryjamband You fail to mention how Beach Boys drummer, Dennis Wilson, spent 1000s of dollars on Charlie and his family while they were living at his house. They ended up completely wrecking the place, forcing Dennis to abandon it. So yeah, Charlie got more than enough for his song being "stolen".

    • @msvick66

      Yeah, but there's a difference in reporting news and shaping the narrative. No news media that I know of actually just report what happened without showing bias towards how they expect or want the listener to feel about it. Real news reporting shouldn't carry within the message itself emotionalism, judgment or moralizing. Should be just the facts and the facts should not be selected based on whether they support the narrative they are telling.

    • @valhalla1240
      @valhalla1240 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +MalicelnWonderland the problem is that often with these cases, the media reports on them so much, that it's almost impossible for the accused to get a fair trial with an un-biased jury (see for example the case of Pamela Smart). Also: I don't think it's necessary to publish everything, e.g. photos of the crime-scene, police-investigations, surveillance-camera-footage, photos of the murder-weapon. In part, because it is extremely disrespectful to the families of the victims, because these pictures stay on the internet forever and they have no chance to escape them. But also because it sensationalizes crime and murder and that's exactly what sociopaths respond to. Most serial killers, in part, want to be famous, no matter what. If we give them that, we encourage them to murder more people.

      Knowledge is power, I want to learn the mind of a killer and see their reasoning. Is it racism? Sexism? Discrimination? Mental illness? Better knowing could push for positive change.

      I don't think everyone at the ranch would have been capable of murder. The night after Sharon & her friends were murdered, Linda Kasabian who was part of the cult, deliberately screwed up Manson's plan to commit a third set of murders. Some people were living on the ranch because they didn't have anywhere else to go, they were not all evil killers. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the cult was a good thing.The vile, evil creatures that brutally murdered those innocent people, in my opinion deserved the death penalty, shame it was abolished.

      It seems weird this man had such power, nobody can force another adult person do what they dont want, there is freedom to say no, freedom to run away, freedom of get together and oppose him. He didnt treat them with gun, do it or be death.

    • @greenbeans575
      @greenbeans575 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Brancaalice Jim Jones had power over the lives of hundreds of his followers. So much so that everyone in the congregation packed up their belongings, said goodbye to all of their families and friends and moved out of the U.S to Guyana. Once there, he convinced hundreds of people to drink cyanide laced punch in order to leave this cruel world and move into the next dimension. Some had to be convinced (at gunpoint), but in the end, 900 people followed him to their deaths. So yes, brainwashing can and does happen whether people understand or acknowledge it. It could be argued that brainwashing is a component of most religions.

    I am just finishing reading Dianne’s book right now. I’ve read Susan’s book. Tex’s book. Helter Skelter. Manson in His Own Words. All very interesting. Add to that the book CHAOS. 😮 In the end - as with anything, we’ll never know the whole truth. But I do think Charlie told them what to do. He and Tex had both been at the Tate house. Charlie and the girls had partied at the house next door to the LaBianca’s house. They chose houses that they knew the layout of and the surroundings. I am pretty confident that Charlie was at both scenes but let his followers do the dirty work for him. He still put them up to it. That’s my take after much reading.

All night I could not sleep as I would fearfully stare at the Jesus picture thinking that it was Charles Manson. Shivers!

    They obviously needed something from him. He spent countess hours in prison studing self help gurus like Norman Vincent Peale. By the time that he was let out of prison he understood how to act to get people to go along with him and respect him
    I also think that the kids who followed Manson's (they said that he was Man's Son) because he had such a rough life. A lot of these kids were not from backgrounds like his. Had both parents, went to school and did a lot of average American things that people did at that time. They respected him because he was worldly and said things that people just did not say in the open.
    He suppossebly had his followers go on rampages because Doris Day's son Terry Melcher renegade on an album deal with the miniscule monster. But I still think that if Manson's album had been a success he still would have had people murdered.

So many questions were left unasked. Like: "how come somebody today still wants to write a book - not just about Charles Manson - but out of his perspective?" "How can one reconcile this project, with the remorseful destiny of the woman sitting next to him?" "Are these two people under the same spell of Manson, just at different times?" "What exactly is it, that people respond to?" "Why does Manson remain a person of public interest even post mortem?" ...

    All the family members tell the same story..about his race war ideas and plans....so I believe them over Manson....

      Exactly. These Manson apologists are laughable. We have firsthand testimony from several members of the family, inner circle and peripheral, and yet we are supposed to discount them and buy conspiracy theories concocted decades after the events. Yeah, I'm with you. I'll take the word of those who were actually there. With a few minor discrepancies, it's all pretty unanimous.

    Manson was a waste of time. Should of just been left alone in prison. He played every interviewer and made the same comments and gave the same answers from the beginning. He was used by networks and film directors who had their own agenda and never brought the public anything new from 1970 til his death.
