The reason the hydraulic elevator probably got stuck is because if you look at the call station on the main floor for it the elevator communication error light was flashing. Otherwise beautiful TK installations, I really need to check out this place if I ever go back to Virginia when I’m travelling through the US

DieselDucy they really are. The one I rode was a thyssenkrupp and it replaced a 23 story elevator. They filled concrete into the shaft and put in an inground hydraulic I know the mechanic who modernized and install it there’s a video on my channel if you want to check it out

This building is a good example of that. Overkill. They could have just used call stations and put an actual cop inside without using destination dispatch.
Rotary is the one who invented the modern oil powered Hydraulic elevator back around the 1920s-1940s, and then Dover bought them out in 1955, and other companies eventually started making their own Hydraulic elevators. Technically, Otis started making the hydraulic elevator, but unlike modern hydraulic elevators, the old Otis ones used water and stream. Eventually Otis started making modern hydros a decade or so after Rotary invented them, but it is rare to see an Otis hydro from the 40s or 50s or 60s as they believed tractions were superior. Otis hydros along with hydros built by companies outside of Dover and Rotary didn't become common til the Mid 1960s...
The Hydraulic elevator in the building is a Thyssenkrupp if that's what you're asking. Or at least I believe it is since the Main Elevators are.. But if you're asking how hydros started, read my comment above..
i don't know why you always press the door close button I've never used that button as you know when you press the floor number button the doors will close automatically without pressing the door close button i still enjoy your videos.
