I liked when Phil apologized for taking so long and they were all telling him not to worry, it’s a huge pot. Not sure why but that moment stood out to me
@@ntksquare6578 no he rep flop set or AJ, only bluffs that makes sense are diamonds which Ivey blocks hard. Thats the only reason at the end why Ivey doesnt call.
The thing is though, it really was just his eyes. Dwan had the best poker face next to Ivey back in the day, so that’s why Ivey didn’t make the call based on looks. Also, Ivey just couldn’t stop imagining dwan have J/9 or A/J
In theory Tom has all of the value hands as played. 1010 KK QQ KQ AJ. IVEY only blocks AJ while simultaneously blocking DURRRS most obvious bluff. Factoring in all off that it's pretty crazy that deep in his heart he knew Tom was up to no good. Durrr is hands down my fav of all time but I wish IVEY would've just flicked it in one time for the single sickest hero call of all time
It's crazy how good Phil is at gauging people. As soon as Dwan started talking about his eyes, Phil knew. He was cursing under his breath at himself. If you watch again, just watch the relief take over Dwan as he starts complaining about his eyes and his demeanour when he's collecting his chips. It's crazy, Daniels right. Everything you do really does convey information.
I think it's pretty obvious when the hand ended Dwan was nothing but happy and relieved. If he was value betting there would be a bit of disappointment there.
I don't think the bluff was the crazy part, you would expect Dwan to bet at every street with the way the hand went down. The crazy part is that Ivey seriously contemplated calling.
The video was cut short. In the original video right after Dwan says something about the light messing with his eyes, Phil Ivey instantly realizes he made a bad fold and stares down Durrr.
You watched the full video but you didn’t get the DVD box set which contains bonus footage. If you watch that, Phil Ivey enlists the help of Daniel Negreanu and potato sacks Tom Dwan as he was about to get in his car.
Wasn't until years later until I understood the bluff. Although A9 spades or T9 could be better candidate. I think Negreanu really did know what Ivey had when he makes comment lol.
Dwan's action is just too poetic - I dont know if they shorten the amount of time he considers his action before making it but it looks like he almost immediately bets every street. Theres every possibility Ivey has AJ. Dwan is repping AJ or a set, but even a set value betting the river that much is outrageous. And if ivey missed the draw, why wouldn't dwan check to allow a bluff if he had AJ? Just too poetic
Tom Dwan's bluff is unbelievable consider that he had the best hand to bluff with ( no diamond, no jack, no T, no Q), he's also the 3-better which makes the board favors him a lot more. he has a lot of QQ, KK, TT, JAs QKs in his range while Phil Ivey's hand is a lot more marginal ( JKs, TJs, JQs, AQ, ATs). Besides, Dwan chose a very beautiful size ( 70% ) on the river, he didn't want to polarize the bet because it would put him on AJs, which is the bottom of his range, 70% bet indicates that he has all the 2 pairs and sets v.v However, Dwan's image is totally against him in this hand because he's the type of guy who could easily 3-bet with any hand to steal the dead money preflop and that could be the reason why Phil Ivey thinking that long. An exceptional hand by 2 exceptional players. Dwan played incredibly in his prime and Phil Ivey was just the best.

To me the most incredible thing of this video is not the big pot or who won. But the fact that yea it was a nice bluff from Tom, but the way Phil Ivey goes about the hand how he genuinly is onto what tom is doing you can tell by the way he speaks and thinks the hand through he thought he had the best hand.
I've watched this hand at *least* a dozen times. I still am in awe when Ivey says that line, "This is gonna be the sickest call of all time." Oh, it would have been, Phil...it would have been. I still get tingles thinking about it. Some *true* poker degen stuff right there.
He doesnt have those holdings due to preflop action ivey would of 3bet those holdings durr would 4 bet 98 cause his in the small blind and would of folded to a 5 bet if ivey had Ak would just call with the AQ and probably would of call down with that hand cause now his just losing to a few combos of Tens and Kings 12 to be exact
right I think Ivey did not make that call because there can be times when Dwan bluffs with a 910 too to fold the better queens so he was losing to a 10 as well .Ivey knew in his gut he was weak but some weak hands beat him too. What a hand though
@@carlospena5501 Ivey could definetly have AK and AQ in his range, have in mind that Ivey is 1200bbs deep at this point and Dwan is close to 900bbs deep, 4 betting AQ is pretty stupid unless you want to turn your hand into a bluff, Ivey is also in position, calling AKo for deception is definetly something he can do here, The problem with Iveys hand here is that he probably knows that Dwan is bluffing, but he loses to some of his bluffs, The only hand that comes to Ivey mind that he beats are J8 of diamonds, but he probably thinks Tom could have a hand like J9s and J10s or Jacks aswell, which he looses to. I dont think Ivey is putting him on 89ss.
Here is probably why Ivey folded: Tom 3-bet and bet on all 3 streets while out of position so it looks like Tom’s range is AA, KK, QQ and AK which obviously beats what Ivey has

Negranue, "I think I know what is is. Ivey, "No you don't." Negranue, "Yeah, I think I do." I love watching Daniel Negranue play. He's a very entertaining poker player to say the least. But his arrogance gets on my nerves sometimes. And I'm well aware that he's a world class poker player and one of the best card readers out there, but there's times like this play, where I hear him say that he "knows what Ivey probably has" that gets on my nerves. First off, he was ultimately wrong about his guess, as later revealed in the post game interview, but to say something like that, and the way he said it, and to who he said it to, Phil - 11 WSOP bracelet winning - Ivey, is what annoyed me. Daniel should be a little more humble at times.
These are the exact type of calls that Mike Postle would make on a consistent basis of course, the cash stakes were A LOT lower but the people he was playing against don't exactly have extremely large bankrolls like Ivey or Dwan. But the point is, making a call or a shove (the latter being a move that Postle would often employ as well) in an extremely well played bluff like that is an extremely hard feat to pull off. Combine that and all the other plays that Postle made that not only defied game strategy, but basic common sense as well (also the fact that he would only make these amazing runs and amazing reads while on live TV and he didn't play and win anywhere else while on his crazy streak), and it becomes pretty obvious that he was a blatant cheater...
Super Crazy. Phil is a lot of fun to watch, a study in nuance. He does all of these little moves to pry tells out of his opponents. I don’t normally dislike videos, but as long as there’s NO audio (and this is literally the only video I’ve watched with none), I’m going to have to throw a dislike on it. I’ve been watching videos for hours today, yesterday bothers before and after this was uploaded, and long before, and no audio has only ever happened this one time as far as I can remember. They say it’s TH-cam’s end (I’ve read through the 33 comments), but I’ve had videos that have had audio not render out the audio and so the upload has none. My guess is something similar and they need to re-render and re-upload. Any other video on TH-cam works just fine, implying it’s NOT on TH-cam’s end.
Enough “no audio” dislikes and maybe they’ll fix it and reload. And, yes, I came back to see if there was audio to actually try to watch before disliking for no audio.
@@AspieGamer13 There is audio i literally just watched it. Try again maybe now it works for you?
Watching this hand actually inspired me to play poker for the first time.

If Phil took another 10 minutes Dwan would have started going grey with a dozen new wrinkles. He was sweating bullets.
