How many hours does it take to replace the water pump and thermostat combined?

5.0 R Spec is not the same as the 4.6 and i guess the 5.0. spent an hour or more trying to figure why the water pump wasn't coming off after taking off the 7 bolts. there are a total of 9 bolts on the R Spec that you have to take off but to access the last 2 you have to take off the tensioner which has 3 bolts you have to remove

Guessing its a later year Rspec becuase the 12s should be the same although I know later years got an updated timing cover with access to the vvt solenoids unlike the early 5.0s and 4.6

Doing the change right now on my 2013 5.0 R-Spec, and yes you do have to take off the tensioner at least on mine

Have you ever got to replace the oil pump? I Got a 2009 4.6 and notice a noise more like a ticking noise been doing oil changes with the right filter every 3k milles it don’t overheat nun of that any help on it just wanna make sure what it is

It would require removing the engine so I haven't gotten around to doing that yet, Would be a good idea as the oil pump with age takes a second to prime sometimes causing a rattle noise on start up or lifter tick. Good trick to keeping the lifters primed with oil is to set your car in park and idle it at 3k rpm for 5mins straight, its an old trick and works good

Lifter noise mainly on cold starts. My 5.0 equus has the same noise. Rarely it's the oil pump. Mainly age. I'm at 268k though lol

Did coolant come out of your water pump when removing it?

Mine leaked pretty much all out so not much came out during the removal
