Mansplain Blane I agree... the fast n furious cars would be smashed in a second... the NOS button wouldn't do shit. The Gigahorse or any car in the Mad Max movie would eat up all the cars in every FnF movie
neckisstiff yeah yeah, 14 year old's crap. The problem with Fast & Furious is that they became good action movies but with a lot of driving and cool cars involved. I mean the offroad Charger was insane, BUT the directors don't know how/ care / want to use them properly. George Miller exactly knows how to put them into the picture so the viewer gets excited.
Ostkreutz Rox I agree... I think the cars in the FnF movies are cool, but nothing really grabbed me with the WOW FACTOR you know? When I saw the doofwagon or gigahorse etc in Mad Max... I was like "holy shit that car may not be the fastest, but it can do some damage! Plus all the cars in Mad Max are so iconic. I would say that the cars from FnF 1 and 2 are iconic, but after awhile all the cars are just plain cars you know.
neckisstiff Yeah, when I see the cars in FnF, I really think "That car is hot", it gets used in a race/ action sequence and you sometimes really have no idea of what is happening. The characters are like "Yo, that's a cool car" but noone has a real passion for their car, Every movie Toretto drives a new muscle car, telling you he likes American Muscle, but even when the Charger he digs gets smashed into a wall, he got angry, but real passion? In the Beginning of Fury Road I really was like "Fuck me that's the Interceptor!" and you suddenly see that that car is him, yes supported by the help of the previous movies, but it represents his life. The shape it's in of course. Then the chase starts, the cars that follow him are so brutal and huge, really showing who the fuck he's dealing with. They are important to the story. Even for me, it would have been tough to not get psyched up by the cars.
Ostkreutz Rox I agree 100% man. If I saw the gigahorse or War Rig chasing me I'd be fucking scared to death. On the contrary, if I saw some ferrari chasing me it wouldn't make me shit my pants you know. What pissed me off about FnF 7 was that yes, they always had new cars and when they went to Dubai they pulled up to the hotel or whatever with those cars.... and WHAM... that was the last time we saw those cars you know. Plus, how did they know where to go and hack into everything, and cut all the damn wires etc etc from that rich guy whose car was in that building. What got me was the sense of "reality" When Dom and Brian were driving that car from building to building was just plain boring. The reality of the War Rig being chased by the motorcycles throwing the bombs at them and starting the rig on fire was reality, because it really did happen when I watched the making. oh well.... hollywood is so predictable with their movies today. Mad Max is the only movie that I have enjoyed this summer. Avengers 2 was ok Jurassic World was descent Terminator was complete garbage
i cant believe they manged to create all these cars and made their 100% custom engines work! dammit, double v8, twin supercharger, 6 turbo? I dont even know what they put in their cars but i wish i could do that with my wrench in my garage! DAMMIT!
Yeah the vehicles are all legit. In the film they are legit driving them. In terms of the cars the only things that are fake are a lot of the aesthetic pipes and what not. They don't do anything. The supercharger on the "black on black" is just a block with a motor to spin the belt it's not actually doing anything. But otherwise legit yes.
I am just amazed. Thats real effort went in there. Well into 2021 and I still think that its the best action movie made so far. I love these dystopian apocalyptic movies and video games and Mad Max Fury road just keeps you on the edge all through out
Man so nice. Those engine sounds are orgasmic. Just knowing the fact that everything they did to those engines are functional and not just props is much more awesome! I wonder what they did with all the cars now after the movie was done.
+ImmortalZombie6669 Gigahorse had a lot more engineering involved than most people notice. Initially they were going to install one functioning V8 and dummy it up to make it look like 2. When asked that question, the engineering crew built a custom rig to allow the engines to run the way they do. It's a Y-configuration; two flywheels, one driveshaft, a lot of work marrying the two together
+Immortal Zoomby Well, after bringing ALL the vehicles back to Australia from Namibia (70+). They're probably touring them around Aust. for a bit. the best thing about fury road was those fkn vehicles. the people that built them are amazing|!! not only creative but they actually drive as well. I wish I could drive the gigahorse to work every day haha.
I do think the progression of insanity through the Mad Max movies are great. In Mad Max 2, cars have been modified to survive in the lawless Australian Outback. Two movies later and it’s diesel punk fantasy cars. It’s great.
They should have these going through the Macy's thanksgiving parade or something, with a bunch of guys dressed as warboys with the guitar and drummers playing.
Lucas Lopez Since this movie will have a sequel, i do think that Max will rebuild it and paint black, since the car got wrecked at the end of the movie.

+Gaizertv No, their most definitely real, you can hear the whistle. It's hard to gauge what displacement they are, but you can run a set up like this, it's just not very practical. Example, to have a 3 litre supercharger dumping into a 3 litre supercharger, there is only ultimately 3 litres of air going into the intake manifold, . Aside from looking awesome as hell, that's really the main reason. You are right about the Mad Max 1 and 2 Interceptor, it had a supercharger housing, pulley and bits that looked the part, but it was ultimately just a shell. They belted it to the air conditioner compressor and wired the compressor to that sweet shift lever switch. That's how they got the look of turning on and off a supercharger.
The second mad max movie had a real one, the starting and stopping of the supercharger was made by putting the car on the trailer, and then turning the car on/off when needed, a no brainer special effect
Those superchargers aren't real they're modeled after a drag racing supercharger the pulleys are driven by an electric motor here's the whole story on the production of the two cars that were used in the movie madmax.wikia.com/wiki/Ford_Falcon_XB_GT_Coupe_1973_"Razor_Cola"_aka_"Caltrop_no.6"
Awesome! although... you would think that in a world where gas is so hard to obtain, everyone would be driving a Prius instead of a V12 or dragster. But that's the MAdness of mad maxx i guess .
I hated seeing this car destroyed, max wasnt in it three minutes before it was wrecked and stolen and he never got in it again.. movie should have been called rise of furiousa, featuring mad max .

I have to see the movie so i can hear the Gigahorse engines as for the baremetal interceptor has 600hp so the regular interceptor would be 300hp or a little more ?
Sergio Ramses Actually; From what I've read on Mad Max Wiki today, the blowers are fake but were driven by the engine instead of an electric motor. So it revved at the same speed that the real engine did, making it look real. As for the Baremetal Interceptor; which is actually called "Razor Cola" the double stacked superchargers were again mounted above the air cleaner, but were both hooked up to the engine and ran at full engine speed.
The Falcon sounded great. I hated when it was destroyed in the movie. I see a '55 Pontiac next to it, and it's right-handed drive (the steering wheel is the right side instead on the left). And, of course, the Gigahorse. Two '59 Cadillac Coupe de Ville bodies. One on top of the other.
Sounds like they used real superchargers in this movie, I hear most of the cars they built with quad turbos and shit are real, that's pretty cool considering most movies would put them there but not even hook them up to the vehicle
Whelp...guess you can never have too much boost... RR Rule#1 - Add Turbo's and Superchargers till it nearly runs on diesel. (comp ratios) RR Rule#2 - If it's still not fast enough, continue adding boost till it is or blows up. The problem with these is that they all look like they rolled right out the prop dept. In the original Road Warrior, those vehicles really appeared as though they were cobbled together from shit found in the wasteland.

Mad Max 5 should feature cars with 5 engines 10 blowers 12 gearboxes......see where I'm going with this? Seriously uncle George your franchise is rapidly deteriorating into a festering cesspool of utter horse@#%@!!!!!!!! No disrespect sir Mad Max was adrenalin fuelled suspense to the nth degree no doubt about it!! But the sequels are killing it. Like No 4 No story. No plot. No purpose. No direction WTF ?????
The vehicles from Mad Max and Road Warrior were "real", with modifications to make them somewhat usable for the times in the movie. The vehicles in Fury Road were so over-the-top that they ruined that part of the movie for me.
The director George Miller (He's directed every movie) said that the Fury Road vehicles were essentially apocalyptic art, because even Paleolithic man instinctively created beautiful cave paintings even with no obvious resources. He wanted the vehicles to feel worshipped (as part of Immortal Joe's contrived religions) as there is little to be found in the Wasteland, and so what is left should be fetishized and cherished. Basically, 30 years after an apocalypse people will turn their utility vehicles into art that shows both their appreciation for what they have and serves as intimidation, representing power, because a gas guzzling V8 in a world with no gas says "I'm powerful" in the same way that not stopping to pick up a 100 dollar bill would. Just a different perspective to look at it from, since Road Warrior was right at the start of the apocalpyse.
But, these vehicles *are* real like Road warrior and Beyond Thunderdome. The Gigahorse with it's twin V8, the Interceptor with double Supercharger, the War rig, the Peacemaker. They're all real upgrades
imagine saying over the top stuff in a mad max movies ruined it... talk about not understanding the universe, everything is over the top in these movies. besides, vehicles in the old movies were just as jazzy in their own ways, they just spend alot more on their budget to make the cars actually real in Fury road. i understand on criticism. And that is Mad max not being the same actor. (i love tom hardy thought) But saying that the cars ruined the movie? damn man, what you've been smoking
For some reason, Mad Max is the ONLY franchise that gets me excited about cars. Fast and the Furious? Fuck that shit.

The plot has much more depth to it than at first glance, like Max's character.
