Gut the car and make it a race car.
    Push button start 👍🏼

I 10/10 approve of this idea.

You need to do brown wire mod. There is a video.

Same problem, did the exact same thing , purchased a new module, already tried the the brown wire trick, tried the new module with no luck. Not sure what to do but maybe try purchasing a new BCM

I have heard you can tune it out of the BCM. I have no idea if thats true or not. But it might be something worth looking into.

I too am interested in what the issue ended up being.

It looked like the brown wire mod wasn’t done on the old module wasn’t done because the loop wire wasn’t cut. If you did the mod with the old module, it should’ve worked fine. You could’ve sent back the new module you bought.

Where's the follow up video? What happened with the column lock issues? Im going through "pull key wait ten seconds" hell.

Haven't made a follow up because I haven't done anything else to address this lol. Literally just been living with it these last couple of years. I've gotten so used to it that I low key forgot it happens lol. Just second nature to insert the key and remove it every time.

Someone please explain the brown wire mod part of this!

I've been told that a small % of the 1997 & 1998's for some reason don't accept the fix. So the Brown wire is supposed to take care of that. I have a 1998 and after finding out about the LMC5 mod I bought it and went to install it and mine was also done. Even the brown wire. So I'm thinking of replacing my BCM. Some are replacing their key which has a little resistor in it. So when it can't make contact it wont start.
I haven't tried that because I have 2 keys and neither key works when it's acting up. I've tried cleaning the keys and still no fix.
I've been dealing with this for 8 or so years. It's so frustrating!
When I get a no start, I put the key in the door lock and manually turn the key from left to right numerous times and sometimes it seems to work.
But there's no way to know how long it will take for it to start. My shortest wait was like 20 mins.
My longest wait has been a week or so😕

Thats super frustrating. I honestly think Im going to have the same bad luck you've had. I just read that apparently you can tune it out of the BCM. So I might just jump to that and skip the rest.

If you haven’t fixed it yet you can get it tuned out of the BCM entirely.

Still havent fixed it lol. Good to know though. Been dabbling with the idea of getting HP tuners to play around a little.
