    Thankyou Harvey wet dog, from those of us who were not able to watch by other means.

      You’re most welcome, the riders got a bit thin on the ground in the early part of the afternoon with retirements and eliminations otherwise I would have covered more. Plus a few of the riders withdrew at the end so the competition sort of fizzled out early

    Thank you, harveywetdog, we in Germany have no TV coverage of this event, so I'm very grateful of your work ❤

      Sorry to hear that - it is on the BBC this afternoon if that helps? I would say it wasn’t a classic year, it was too wet for that, but people rode to the conditions and saved their horses for another day

      Thanks very much - it's a bit shaky because I didn't risk the monopod in the crowds - and I never realised how much noise all the dogs make when the horses go past!

    Great coverage of an event that FEI wants a years subscription to watch! Thank You!!This course is one of the toughest I think for a 4**. Richard Jones and grey looked punched half way around. No flat terrain at Badminton and that makes a huge difference.

      Think he pulled up a fence or two later; to be honest we had gone about half an hour without seeing a horse so I was pleased he managed to make it that far.

    Very interesting to see several fences from different angles to the TV. Are you going to load any more?

      Mainly more horses, especially at the lake. I will make another video when I get time but my focus shifts to Bicton now

    What was the blowing of the sharp whistle about? Is it warning the crowd the next horse is coming through?

    • @harveywetdog
      @harveywetdog  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh yes the whistles are very much part of eventing and very much to warn people that a horse is coming and to close the crossing points etc and for the fence judges to get ready.
      Because the commentators are often working on relayed images and messages they can be a bit behind so you can’t always rely on them. The whistles are very useful to me as a videographer to get the camera running. They are used at all levels in the U.K. although some fence judges are better than others in their whistle craft.
      It’s one of those iconic images of eventing for me - although it can get all the dogs barking!

      @@harveywetdog Thank you answering me. I've seen a couple of cross country events here in the US and I don't remember any whistles, but they were not grand events with huge crowds like Badminton. Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it!

      Great video! Intense course. What incredible athletes!

    The horse athletes are not given enough equal share in agreeing to participate. Pain is the horses fate.

      Horse’s fate
      Not necessarily

    • @harveywetdog
      @harveywetdog  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a fair point and one which the FEI have tried to address with their Charter for the Horse and Be a Guardian initiatives. I don't agree that pain is the only fate for all horses but agree that for some unfortunately it is. It remains a question of balance

    There's no nature in the natural obstacles anymore. Cross country has become long format showjumping. Not one of these horse/rider teams could have gotten around even D of Ledyard 79.

      If you say so; what is D of Ledyard 79?
