    The punching bag thing works pretty well. It works even better if you use those large punching bags instead, and kidnap the person you’re angry at and stuff them in the bag. Then punch your anger away! If your hands get sore, you can use a baseball bat or a crowbar, or a .22. Pete will never break a promise to you again! Ah, 1950’s conflict resolution and mental health exercises. 👍

    I recently had a panic attack, and it was terrifying. I woke up feeling angry and out of control, throwing things and punching my pillows. I was afraid of hurting my sister, who was visiting me, so I begged her to help me. I also felt like something was crawling on my skin, which I later learned is a common symptom of panic attacks. My sister came over, hugged me, and stayed with me until the ambulance arrived. The emt measured my heart rate at 230 beats per minute. He gave me meds to calm me down. There is more to this story but that’s not the point.
    I am frustrated with the short film because it failed to accurately represent the complexities of the human experience, especially when it comes to mental health with anger and panic attacks. However, I found comfort in comedians who used sarcasm to make sense of the short film. Their humor helped me see it in a different light and find some clarity.
    I'm sharing my story because I want to raise awareness about panic attacks and mental health. If you're struggling, know that you're not alone.
    This short did get one thing right and is what i did with my sister, telling someone what you are feeling is very important.

  • @Zara-Bari

    The idea that "anger is pressure, you have to let it out" was the leading psychological theory in the 1950s and '60s. People were advised to go somewhere they could yell and scream, punch a pillow, etc.
    It's since been proven that this is the worst possible way to handle anger. It makes you feel much better at the time, but in the long run it conditions you that being angry feels good. You're actually training yourself to fly into a rage at the slightest thing.

    • @scottlarson1548

    • @skeetsmcgrew3282
      @skeetsmcgrew3282 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @James Scott Self Defense I don't think the immense complexities of human emotion being difficult to understand and address makes studying it "pseudoscience." By that logic, no antidepressants are real medicine because many of them don't work for some people while for others they do.
      A better way to say it would be, humans can't be put in a small box and analyzed like a chemical. There are just too many factors, and experiments essentially consist of simple observations since ACTUAL experiments are often considered war crimes.

    Don't get angry just approach those who've upset you with a chilling joy and an eerie grin that way they don't know your true intentions
