    I just love how positive Lucinda is, she’s so amazing! And Max is such a great horse!

    l had to smile when Max slid to a stop at the barrels. As American kids, my friends and I would run barrels in our Western gear and then change tack and turn the barrels into jumps. Your cross country jumps overwhelm me but barrels I understand. 😊

    Really interesting especially that last bit about why he might stop. Helps me understand possibly why my horse did an uncharacteristic last minute bail out recently! 🤕

    I really love the training vlogs! This one was great, appreciated what Lucinda said about the jumps changing if water splashes on them, or a shadow comes on - something to always keep in mind. 😊😊

    I love these kinds of videos, it explains things like really green looking spooks, but I'm not sure I'll ever understand why so many horses spook around tires unless it's the smell 😷😄 he's still a beautiful powerhouse 😁🥰🥰

    I do love the training vlogs b/c I learn so much. Lucinda & Nick are both great & I love that they are positive & give suggestions, not criticism. My experience with riding instructors was of the "If-I-scream-loud--enough-you'll-get-it" variety. As I am not at all athletic & often had no idea what they were asking me to do or how to do it, & I had very little confidence on a horse, I finally just gave up---I think the final straw was the stable owner's 16-yr-old daughter, who was very full of herself & didn't like having to give lessons to us lesser creatures, yelled at me "I may as well tie a sack of potatoes on a horse & try to teach it to ride!" And that ended my riding career, except for an occasional trail ride on vacation. So I am much glad to see that eithertimes have changed, or perhaps you are not as much a trial to your teachers as I was. Anyway, I do enjoy the vicarious lessons and also the fun XC rides with friends & family!

    • @vintagelady1
      @vintagelady1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ashleyharrisoneventing Thank-you, so true!! I was a teacher for many years & a small amount of encouragement goes a long way. But to be fair, a sack of potatoes definitely described my riding skills! It's exactly how I felt on a horse, & I suspect that the horses felt the same way!

    Really enjoy these, of course do more as opportunity presents. Hope the nice lady got a couple barrels for you, those are quite odd where most cross country you've shown us have been 'natural' so they'd be a facer indeed for many horses...

    Maybe Lucinda could give Mark Todd a lesson on the concept of how to break things down then build back up when a horse doesn't understand the question....instead of picking up a fallen tree branch and beating the living daylights out of it 🤷‍♀️
