I have had an A510 for many years and only used Auto setting for my modest photo needs. Today, I opened the owner's manual, found out how to replace the backup battery and continued to read about the various settings. It's quite a sophisticated little camera and is a lot more versatile than I realized. I freed up the sticky lens cover in the process of fiddling with it. Amazing the number of parts, considering the modest costs of little "point and shoot" cameras like these.

Yeah I am not sure how they could afford to make it. Especially since I assume a lot of it was hand assembled.

I have this camera, and it recently stopped shooting pictures and I'm not sure why. Sometimes when I turn it on the display is completely black other times the camera works but it doesn't let me shoot. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

@@AmneetRanu-v7m has it been dropped? My first thought is an internal connection is loose. I had a Canon DSLR that acted weird till I took it apart and reseated some ribbon cables. It was tricky though.

    Thanks for the video!
I've got an old powershot a510 and mine's keep showing e18 code. The zoom lens doesn't move at all. I've opened the cover and cleaned it up and it still says e18 even though there's no dust particles inside it. Can i open the lens part without having to open the whole thing?
    Thanks again!

If memory serves correct I lost interest in tearing this down further after getting shocked, Generally the lens assembly is ultrasonically welded shut during assembly. I'm not sure you will be able to take it apart without being destructive. You could try opening and closing it while blowing it out with compressed air.

@@computersales I found out the problem. Everything was in order except for a microchip that fell off. And it's not repairable.
RIP to that 15yo guy. 🤧
      Thanks for the replay.

@@mrd.redowanullah7045 that is unfortunate. Luckily digital cameras of this era are fairly cheap used now days.
