If one correctly calibrated CD can be useful, all can be useful.
Variation among commercial CD spectrometers is (much) less than variation due to sample preparation, calibration (which "DSM" does not require or use), and cuvette variation. The many zeros that some companies cite on their specifications are literally no more relevant for 99% of the work done on CDs than whether your car gets 40 mpg or 40.01 mpg.
