    Robert Sweet is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. He's also one of the very most talented drummers in all of music. His work on some of Bill Menchen's remastered albums was nothing short of brilliant, and Robert's solo album does not get enough credit for his songwriting chops, musicianship, and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Robert is a pure pleasure, on every level. One of my favourite musicians of all time.

      Yep, couldn't agree more. He's the reason I picked up a pair of drumsticks 25 years ago, & drumming has never left my soul thanks to Robert.

    I saw Stryper in San Antonio in the early 90's There was a long line and they was behind schedule. Everyone was excited and patient. Robert came out and when people recognized him he said he was really sorry for the delay, they were having some tech problems and he really appreciated our patience. It was totally nice of him to do that. Awesome show...

      More overlooked. The whole band because of the Christian point of view. Funny how rock n roll is to be the ultimate Liberty in freedom of expression yet when you get a band singing about God mercy forgiveness and judgment. Then some places don't want to play that

      Robert is a little more low key and shy, but he is so nice. Once when I saw Stryper, Rob went outside before the show and visited with the fans waiting in line to get in. He shook hands, talked, took pictures, and signed autographs. I've met his brother Michael a couple times, and he wasn't nearly as approachable. A little cocktail. But hey, he is a phenomenal singer and player.

    My wife Ursula and I finally saw Stryper at Jaxx in Springfield VA for my 45th B'day in 2005...Robert and Oz came outside to meet the crowd before the show. I got a picture with each of them and autographs. Robert's been a major influence on my metal drumming ever since '85 although I've been rock drumming since I was 14. I also rededicated my life to Jesus Christ through this band in '86 and joined a full gospel church after auditioning for their local rock band Spirit Ministries. Later "87-'89 I was in a power trio called Vessel and our opening debut just happened to be the same night Stryper made an unscheduled Tour stop and played Hampton Coliseum. From '87-'89 we covered 7 Stryper songs, 5 Whitecross, 2 Barren Cross, 2 Idle Cure, etc. and we got to open for Whitecross, where I also (unknown to me) got to audition as we played. Had I known I would have answered the "interview" questions a little better. I've also been the main worship drummer since '87 at the same church, playing the same Roland drums, with the SAME pair of Aquarian X-10 sticks, and have been leading worship with my wife for the past 17 years. Singing and drumming is hard, leading is harder...to God be the glory! Bless Stryper 777

    I recall meeting Robert, Michael and Timothy on the inaugural Monsters of Rock Cruise in 2012. I didn't meet Oz but saw him front row at every other bands performances and just having the time of his life cheering the other bands on. I met both Timothy and Michael in the late night pizzeria setup for after hour performances and saw them both several times throughout the cruise. Both were gracious enough to take the time to shake my hand and take a photo with me. The only time I saw Robert, other than when he was on stage performing was on the evening that I believe UFO was performing. He and I assume his wife and a few friends sat way at the back bar, that wasn't even open if I recall, so as not to draw attention to themselves. I did work up the boldness to walk over and shake his hand and thank him for being such an inspiration - I didn't ask him for a photo. He was very gracious as well.

    Most people decline over the years or get stale. Stryper is one of the very few bands who keep getting better and better as the years go by. Aging like a fine wine. Just when I say the newest album is the greatest and they can’t top it, they release the next album and I have to eat my words. I still get blown away by the variety of fans they have. Believers, non-believers, Christian’s, atheists, satanists, etc all love the band for so many different reasons. Often time they are loved and respected because they don’t hide who they are or what they’re about, they’re what they’re about and won’t change it regardless of profits or popularity

I'm happy to hear he's enjoying his rekindled career and I'm glad Stryper is going strong. I've seen them three times; in 1985, 1989, and 2018. And I'd go to another show if I get the chance.

    • @TheAxe4Ever
      @TheAxe4Ever หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just stop and think about it. Many American bands that were around back in the day and can still perform today, like Stryper can, do pack stadiums like you said. But that!s because those countries crave good music from these types of bands that are awesome musicians because what those other countries you mention put out crap music from crap bands. So when good American bands tour the world, those people love it! America has a lot of choices. Some of them are crappy choices but some people are into that crap. But we also have many great bands that aren’t crap but will go play those crap countries to bring good music to the people that are only used to the crap the bands in their countries have. So they pack the people in. Man! Did I mention the word crap? 😂
