Oh my goodness! I had a peruvian guinea pig back in college. He passed on a couple years ago and I've been missing him in quarantine. He was black with a few grey streaks and when his hair was long my roommates and I used to call him the walking toupee :D. I don't think he'd let me brush him for this long. If I gave a veggies while petting him he'd purr and popcorn for a bit but was more likely to run away with the snack than let me cuddle him.

Those weren't chirps. Chirps literally sound like a bird. Maple didn't like how she was being touched and thats the sound guinea pigs make when they don't like something. I've left a separate comment in hopes Jen sees it so she can know this as I'm sure she wasn't aware.
Thats just the sound they make. It's called wheeking. If they do it a lot, they're either excited, or they're incredibly unhappy. A quiet guinea pig is a happy and content guinea pig. I've honestly never seen one so chill and quiet before. Maple must trust Jen completely.
