Looks like a fun early ‘83 944 project with a lot of potential! Congrats on getting it fired back up. The little cone filter attached to the air box is interesting to see. There was originally a bypass tube that ran from that connection point to the top of the timing belt cover, but Porsche issued a TSB (probably 30 years ago now 😂) and plugged it with a breather cap (part number: 944-106-103-03), but it looks like someone found their own “functional” solution.
They're out there, but usually pretty rough! I hope to have a 944 Turbo in really nice shape some day, but with the condition of mine, I don't expect it to be perfect.
I watched the ad for a couple weeks and the price dropped a few times, so I wasn't surprised. With the damage to the rear, I probably over paid for it, but I don't plan to sell it anytime soon.

Interesting! I love working on things I know nothing about and learning along the way. Thank you for sharing the info!
Haven't seen one of those in a long time! It will definatly need some work but it will be worth it in the end.
Agreed! I've rarely seen one of these on the road, so I'm stoked to have one even if it's not perfect.
Looks awesome man, here from Facebook market place
Thanks!
Quite a bit of engine vibration...you may need motor mounts (common failure) or your balance shafts are not timed correctly.
I owned that car for 3 years before I sold it
I’m looking to buy one too. Hopefully I can get a project 944 for $1000.

Sounds like a pretty shady seller to try to renegotiate the price after you "fixed" the car.
