    There's a reason surfing has a hierarchy. It's to ensure this chaos doesn't happen. Beginners need to go to beginner spots until they've learned etiquette and how to duck dive and keep the takeoff and surf zone clear for others to catch and surf thier wave. The guy who doesn't duckdive but throws his board up into the face of another is ridiculous. The sad part is he has no clue how bad a move and how selfish he was. He probably assumes that any enforcing or hierarch is mean when he's the one ruining waves and putting others in danger. Once you're good and you're around other good surfers there's usually a comradery and the etiquette makes for some cheering others into waves after you just had one. It's the intent of all that. With this type of crowd there can only be frustration.

      Absolutely agree. Respect for the hierarchy and basic surfing etiquette goes a long way in ensuring everyone has a good time out there. It's unfortunate when some surfers disregard these principles and create chaos in the lineup. Hopefully, with more awareness and education, we can all enjoy the waves safely and harmoniously.

      I wouldn't call it hierarchy but etiquette, yes. Whoever is deeper and catches it, has it. Look both ways before you take off. Don't paddle back out through the break. Get out of the riders way. To name a few.

    • @peters219
      @peters219 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jesserast7631 hierarchy doesn't have to be negative. Imagine if all the race car tracks had everyday drivers filling them up going 80mph. It's an odd thing that all the world class surf gets overcrowded by less than average surfers. It becomes most evident when a wave has perfect barrels, and the surfer doesn't know how to ride the barrel or get into it. It's hard to watch a perfect wave peeling with them in the wrong place or going straight. They should move to another spot that suits their level of surfing. In this case, the etiquette would be to use some degree of consideration, and move to another spot/peak etc. If there's no one else out have at it. But this is crowding a line-up, getting in the way, squandering epic surf, and just not understanding what surfing is about. They can have more waves and have fun at another friendlier, softer wave that suits their level of surfing.

      Yeah, getting out early is definitely a good strategy to avoid the crowds and enjoy some quality waves. It's nice to have the lineup to yourself before it gets too busy. Hopefully, you scored some good ones this morning!
