This is another incredible example of how "Blue Monday" revolutionized the music industry by its complexity and mood. It was released in the early 80s, but it still sounds fresh as if it was released by a contemporary indie group. Its incredible how music can become eternal...
Blue Monday is my favorite song I’ve ever come across. I have to listened to it thousands upon thousands of times and never gotten tired of it, this is a brilliant cover, and I thank you for posting it. It’s similar enough to keep iconeity, but different enough to be a change of sound just ever so slightly
Thank you so much. That means a lot to me, coming from a true fan of the original masterpiece. And btw. I feel exactly the same. It's probably the only song I will never get tired of. I bought the 12" back in 1983 and it's pretty worn by now but I still put it on regularly.
Love this version. I'm 60 now and I heard this song in Germany at a club when it first came out and it blew my mind. I might bring the hi hat sound (like in 4:02) up a tad bit because it's so important. I'm only saying that because I've been hearing this song since 1983. Other than that you are one of the few people who mastered this song. Thank you!!!!!
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment, James. It's so great to hear from other fans of this New Order masterpiece. I love the fact that you notice something like the level of the hi hat sound in the breaks. Only a true fan will notice something like that. Thanks for that, it's noted! :-)
@@thomashedemann1600 I just wanted to point out that what you do is amazing. The fact that you show people how you create these compositions is an indication of a true artist. The amount of cool gear you use is mind blowing. I would have to go engineering school just to figure out how to plug in the keyboards. I did realize I need a Vocoder VC 340 just for talking to people. I might upgrade to the 370 series...... Ok I can't back that up since I have no idea what I'm talking about. I am now a fan of your music thank you sir!

WoW!!! Good Morning Thomas, This has just got to be the Best RE-creation of New Orders Excellent Blue Monday. One of my Ultimate Dance tracks of the 1980's. This brings back so many Beautiful and very Happy memories for me. This was my Teenage years of starting to become who i am today. This Amazing piece of music is Timeless 1980's Classic Night Club floor filler,i can just still remember those Incredible nights out with my Friends, having a Great time Dancing and getting absolutely Drunk.... Jonathan a very Big 1980's Fan.....
Wow this is so awesome man. I did not expect this perfection and can tell that you worked hard on this. One of my favorite songs and you really gave it justice. Keep it up!
Hey you, yeah you Thomas Hedemann! I found this cover by coincidence. Well actually not, since Blue Monday is my favourite song, I listen to it at least twice every day and TH-cam puts this masterpiece and it's covers in my recommendations - fortunately. I am too young to have witnessed the 80s and of course New Order's prime, but I think I know what it means if somebody says ,,that's so 80s" by now. I propably know most of the live versions of this song on TH-cam and have downloaded loads of live gigs from them. So let me get this straight: This is wonderful. Your cover is the proof that every good Blue Monday cover and live version sounds different, but never loses the essence of the song. And that's the part of Blue Monday that makes it irresistable: How is it possible? Although there are various recreations of the song with many different synths, you always feel the same exciting feeling inside your body the moment this song is played. Another small detail of this cover makes it so incredible: Your replace for the Hooky bass. If I only knew the original version, then I'd say it is no good replace and sounds wrong. But thanks to my many journeys inside the New Order universe I of course know many live versions. And this Hooky bass replace sounds almost exactly like Hooks bass in the 1998 reading Festival live version of Blue Monday. I wonder if this was your inspiration? If you should read this comment, maybe you could give a curious teenage boy an answer to his small question. P.S: If I didn't express myself clearly enough: This is cool. Modern New Order should make music like that and not that rubbish they do nowadays ;-)
Hey Bastian. Thank you so much for your comments. It's nice to hear other peoples relation with this wonderful song and good to know that someone born after 1983 also appreciate it. I did not know the live version from Reading 1998 until now, so the resemblance is coincidental. The Hook bass sound I use, was the closest I could get with my synths. My inspiration was mainly the 12" from 1983 (A & B sides) which I bought as my first 12" ever, when it first came out.
How does it feel to treat me like you do? When you've laid your hands upon me And told me who you are Thought I was mistaken I thought I heard your words Tell me, how do I feel? Tell me now, how do I feel? Dude this is great. You put some work into this, and it shows. If I had to critique it, I would mention that the Prophet-5 Bass seemed to be mixed a little too low, and the breaks at 1:28 and 4:01 seemed offbeat to me. I also really like this style of music video. It's very much what I would expect to see if I were in the studio with you, watching you record this, which is what I like doing with other musicians. Good job.
Thanks a lot for your comments, Max. Highly appreciated! And I actually agree with you 100% about your points of critique, which btw. are most welcome. When I listen to my songs after a few weeks or months of release, I usually find things I would have done differently. The P5 bass IS a little too low actually, I agree. Regarding the breaks, then I tried to stay as close to the original as possible, which to me sounds a bit offbeat, so I struggled a bit with those, and I may not have got it 100% right. :-)
@@thomashedemann1600 It's funny how it works like that; you making the breaks offbeat is actually a compliment to your faithfulness because you replicated the track-including any mistakes in the original. (assuming they were mistakes in the original) You've earned yourself a new subscriber for sure.
Brilliant cover, and best of all, made with mostly affordable gear! It's easy(ish) to emulate New Order if you have a gazillion dollars studio with a DMX and Moog Source et al., less so to make an excellent version of the classic out of Ableton, a Minilogue and couple of Behringer clones
Thank you so much for your great comment. I appreciate it very much. I could probably have done it even without the Minilogue because the Model D could have been used for those parts as well. It's a beast of a synth.

No contemporary indie group could come within a million miles of Blue Monday, that is an insult :/
This is true! But it also reveals some new bands aren't innovating
I think giorgio moroder had greater influences on electronic, but blue Monday it's definitely unique because of the pad and strings melodies
This song it's timeless, made in the 83 and still sounds from the future, amazing cover!

How does it feel to treat me like you do?
When you've laid your hands upon me
And told me who you are
Thought I was mistaken
I thought I heard your words
Tell me, how do I feel?
Tell me now, how do I feel?
Those who came before me
Lived through their vocations
From the past until completion
They'll turn away no more
And still, I find it so hard
To say what I need to say
But I'm quite sure that you'll tell me
Just how I should feel today
I see a ship in the harbor
I can and shall obey
But if it wasn't for your misfortune
I'd be a heavenly person today
And I thought I was mistaken
And I thought I heard you speak
Tell me, how do I feel?
Tell me now, how should I feel?
Now I stand here waiting
I thought I told you to leave me
While I walk down to the beach
Tell me, how does it feel
When your heart grows cold? (Grows cold, grows cold-)
