Totally agree in creating an aesthetic or vibe and don’t understand why more sellers aren’t in that mindset. Actually, I just thought… maybe it is because they don’t have corporate experience. Appreciate your views and how much valuable information you provide. Thank you and keep shining!! ☀️
Thank you so much for your kind words. Some people just do not know and that is why I do this so I can educate them on the importance of running this like a business.❤️
Ok, after months of fighting every day to keep going, I finally have more hope. Thank you, Dylan. I needed this encouragement. My shop does not have a premium aesthetic. It's just a POD shop, but I will see what I can do to fix it.
Man, I hear you talking about low sales, I'd be delighted if my POD shop was getting those low numbers that you talk about. Right now, $900 a month would be a great momentum starter for me, and could keep me building. I think I have a good design sense but I can't really know because not enough eyeballs on product. A handful of views a day is all I am I getting. I admit I have struggled to sprint because I am learning so many new things at once to make this work, but I love creating designs, and building a shop.
I had always wanted to be that one stop shop where someone could come get whatever they needed that was in printable form. But everyone told me no and that it would not be a good idea. I wish k had listened. Maybe my shop would have been selling more.
Hi Dylan, I am really glad that I don'thave to niche down my art to get more sales. But I really need help for what to do with my art shop on Etsy. Thank you!
I totally agree Dylan. I heard that all the time on eBay and became profitable on eBay with an eclectic store. I am new to Etsy and trying to find what works. Gathering bits of info here and there.

So the question on most of us who are wondering-the ones you are talking about-does this method still work with the POD shops that you have found these 1400 ppl success? I’m not doubting you in any way…I love you information and the more relatable, humorous side you have allowed yourself to show lately. Just curious if I were making the call to you -would I have to change EVERYTHING from a POD shop? Would I have to be buying inventory or using international dropshipping that can take up to 30 days and most customers will drive you crazy daily wondering where their order is or why haven’t they received their tracking yet. You know the ppl I am talking about and it’s valid. Ty
@@dylanjahraus I've only just started it but I was stuck on having a "niche". Having to go back to the drawing board and think again 😊 You video did help immensely as it allowed me to release the word and concept of "niche" and the importance of it. I have got some ideas / designs but will have to test them out to see if they gain traction. Kind regards from the UK
I agree with most of what you said, with the exception of talking about types of 'stores'. You mention Niched stores and, very condescendingly, General stores. What you fail to realize is that, 99.99% of the time the type of store makes absolutely ZERO difference to your buyer! They aren't going straight to a store when they come to Etsy. They are doing a keyword search for the type of ITEM they're looking for. So, niching down on the ITEM/LISTING, and targeting the buyer for that item is ALWAYS the right way to go. Where your be 'fancy' for the 'fancy' people technique comes in to play is, if they are looking for other things that your LISTING aesthetic plays to, they MAY click into your store and buy more. Maybe. I'd say most Etsy buyers won't even know what to click on to get in to your store proper.
I hear what you're saying! Ultimately, it's all about targeting the right audience with the right item. Whether it's a niche store or a general one, what matters most is capturing the attention of buyers searching for specific items.
Can someone help me understand the difference between picking a niche vs a customer with an example? I feel like both are the same things. For eg: If I do kids' activity printables, am I choosing a customer here or a niche? How can I do this shop with a customer in mind?
I'm trying to understand it as well, but I think they're similar avenues but just looking at it from a different perspective. Maybe. I don't know. Like instead of just focusing on a specific type of item that is selling, like an organizer calendar for stay at home parents, look at what all stay at home parents need and tailor to that?
@@jerm22278 oh yes! That makes sense! I think that could be the right explanation for this. So if we a target a customer and make all kinds of products for them, then the average order value will increase and there are chances they will become repeat buyers.
Hi Dylan, what if you have no capital or savings to hire other people to do your website, marketing etc? I have to do everything myself because my shop isn’t making any profit. Thanks Laura

wow! Thank you so much Dylan for this wonderful video. I'm just starting out and building in kids decor. Will this be a niche store or general store? Do you think offering multiple types of products, all designed for kids (e.g, blanket, clock, table lamp, wall art, towels) is too diverse?all designs are targeted at kids, but just different products. Would really appreciate your thoughts. Thank you

@dylanjahraus how would this work for POD? We are thinking about enrolling in yourself course. We are seeing "decent" results but we want to do better. We sell POD but how can you make shirts & sweatshirts look "premium" ?

Hello, maybe I don't understand anything, although I'm not stupid, but digital download niches are funny, wallart is, all kinds of printing and drawings are... but where is the niche where it would be specifically written - Mokaps!!?? I didn't find one!!! And how can I write the full name of my product in the listing tags - Christmas card mock-up ??? if the number of characters allowed is 20 symbols and the system does not allow me to write it, then what should I write there???? all sorts of thirds that have nothing to do with christmas card mockup??? Hello, Dylan thank you for your video - I have a question about your margins. You say that you made over $1 million in profit from $1,5 million in sales means you are working on an average margin of 67%? How are you achieving these margins?
This is a great video, but I'm not sure it's really telling us that we don't need a niche. It's telling us to define our audience and have a better aesthetic... and stay away from nurse and teacher niches.
