This retro radio cabinet was not working so I partially restored it and repurposed it so now it is a functional side table with a vintage/modern vive. I used natural wood and fabric as well as solid brass hardware to give it a cozy and inviting look. This is a perfect example of up cycling.

My friend who is an electrical engineer and 73 years old nearly had a heart attack when you ripped out the speaker! He LOVES the old valves inside and nearly cried himself to sleep. Funny, how one person's idea of furniture or older item is precious and to another is junk. I love the finished cabinet, and am glad you kept the heritage of the piece by keeping the old labels.

Upcycle is what today's terminology is. Making something old into something better, usually with a different purpose.

I startred collecting anttiques when I was 16 & my mom & I lucked out on a free antique radio that we restored. Its still one of my favorite pieces. We were even able to get the exact reproduction fabric it originally came with & got it working perfectly by a vintage radio restorer. Its so cool.
