    as a relatively new Fusion user (2 yrs) I really appreciate your videos - keep em coming!

    Looks good. I’ll prolly have to watch it again when it’s time to make something!

    Like the select sketch profile for engraving/trace operation. Was always a pita when having to select a lot.

    this looks really sweet ! Could be new material for a bunch of future content !

    Should have been added years ago , this feature exists in every cam software

    What a time saver, the selection tab always annoyed me but I couldn’t figure out why.

    I think there are still a LOT of limitations with selections in fusion when it comes to selecting very complex geometries like a mold cavity made up of many surface patches. Like a simple marque selection option WHY that does not exist is just ridiculous!

      @afrykanerPL 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True, my old soft SPRUT CAM has much better solutions for choseing limitation. Fusion must learn alot.

      @afrykanerPL Sure it does.

    Instead of selecting the edges as pairs with a 0.5" extension, you could select the straight edges at the top and select the bottom height as the radius tangent point (original segment selection)

    • @willch1987
      @willch1987 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Providing they are all at the same height

    thank you, please check something that smashed a 12 mm endmill, in 2D adaptive the step over per cut or tool load is set to a nominated value, in the old geometry selection it woul keep this constant. In the new selection it varies and reaks cutters. Of particular not if you select chain it behaves, if you selct face the stepover is affected by geometry below the cut height.. why do they keep this secret?? Carbide cutters are expensive.

    Always great job ! Will be nice if you add any tips how to work with Large files... Work with them is rly hard.

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you define what you mean by large files? There are a few scenarios where users refer to a large file. I just want to make sure I know what your meaning is here.

  • @joesmith2465

    these are nice features I wish when you do a 3d adaptive there was a area so can add a contour without doing a create derived operation. also wish they would break up the machine add on so can use 4th axis simultaneous without needing 5th and all that.

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you have a probe on your machine? Do you ever wish you could trim a toolpath? Do you ever wish you could use two different tools for the same toolpath? Do ever have to drill and tap holes? Ever with you could control where surfacing toolpaths start and end and line all those points up? How about surfacing toolpaths that are both steep and shallow at the same time?
      There are lots of great features in the machining extension. Breaking all of those features out one by one I think would add more complexity for the customer. I think you will continue seeing things added to the machining extension that will make it an even better value than it currently is.

      @@MechanicalAdvantage I do have a probe but I'm just a hobbyist I have a fadal machine it's just easier to use a haimer. Not long ago ya could use 4th features.

      Hello Kevin glad to see your back online hows it going ?

  • @BillyTpower

    I always find myself making everything little thing a new component, instead of just adding features to the parts I'm working on. How do you determine when its time to stop sketching and just make a new component? I hope this makes lol

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I try to use the thinking of "how would this be assembled" when deciding if I need components. Each part of a mechanical assembly would typically be a component for me. Not 100% of the time, but more often than not.

    Hello, i have updated Fusion 360, but the new geometry selection doesn`t sims to appear, can you tell me why? I am in Europe.

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am showing a featured that isn’t yet released for Fusion. This will come to everyone in a future update. I am not allowed to say what that date is, but I think it will come sooner rather than later.

    I greatly prefer the geometry feature user interface that hyperMILL uses. They use a separate tree panel instead of burying it in a tabbed dialog box that you have to press a down arrow to see your saved geometry features.

    • @sethmadore4127

      If Fusion ever adopts the UI of Hypermill, I think that would go over like a fart in church

    • @JonBanquer
      @JonBanquer ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sethmadore4127 There is zero chance Fusion 360 can grow into serious machining job shops packing all information into one tree and a small, tabbed dialog box. hyperMILL, Esprit, Topsolid, etc. all use multiple trees. Critical data needs to be right in front of you and not buried. Autodesk Featurecam also has this right with its excellent User Interface.

      @@JonBanquer Fusion development stole the FeatureCAM development team for the past several years. This is Interactive Feature Recognition from FC that has been around for 20 years, finally put into Fusion, but still way too many clicks as you have observed.

    Terrible update! For 2 days now I can’t figure out the processing.. before it took a couple of minutes... now it’s the end.. if I don’t figure it out, I’ll say goodbye to FUSION 360

    • @MechanicalAdvantage
      @MechanicalAdvantage  ปีที่แล้ว

      All the old ways of selections still work. What are you having difficulty with? Can you be more specific?

    • @VMG_STUDIO
      @VMG_STUDIO ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MechanicalAdvantage The problem with processing open pockets, I have a radiator and earlier I selected a plane and the program took into account all offices, now you need to manually select all individual contours and it is not possible to enter the cutter from an external contour. how to enable the old type of processing?
