You are very lucky that you have a Grinch I have a Grinch in a sleigh with his dog and he is work and then he stopped and then my we took it to a place where we can get fixed they fixed it and then about let's say 3 days later it broke again I've replaced the batteries and it won't turn on so you're very lucky that you know someone that can fix these or try to fix them
Have you tried liquid heat shrink before? I used it on my holidazed santa a few years ago and its till holding up after all these years with all the lights working

Ya I know :/ it was clearly a weak transitor and not the motor, sense that frosty was really fast and I swapped the motors and it made no difference.
