At work (SM building) and out and about, Nct have been fanboying for Exo forever, and have been friends in pairs too... Mark and Xiumin, Taeyong and Baekhyun, Lucas and Kai,....and even more so as SUPERM started touring the States...all of Nct have looked up to Exo as Exo have been the "it" group for years, legends. "YOU" is a sentimental song Xiumin made for Exol just before enlisting. He wants to write a goodbye letter to us, but doesn't know what to say.....he very much loves Exol as Exo has always made that a priority in their success over the years, hence many songs that Exo have are strictly about and for Exol, either thanking us for our love or wanting to see us as much as we want to see them. In "You", Xiumin said that he approaches the mail box and is hesitant to put our letter in it, because that would mean it's final...he has to go now, so as he walks away from the mail box, he starts to run, as if running to get it done so he can come back to us sooner. Precious...... For longtime, true Exol, knowing that Exo enlistment was to start with Xiumin leaving first did not go well with the fans.....one of our boys will be gone for awhile, and that reality hit Exol, and me, very hard....(also for every member). We all knew the dates they were to leave, and kind of lost it when the time would come, on social media and publicly..... I myself was in a very blue funk and was a crying mess....GONE FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS? NOOO...this can't be real.... That scene where there is frost on his eyelashes is so gorgeous! And he is singing how happy he is to get back together with us all, and he's presenting us with a present, himself! (opening his hands at the end)😊 Oh girl, there are 2 songs on the Brand New album you will like... "HOW WE DO" - another duet with Mark, and "LOVE LETTER" -oh it's so pretty....you should check those out or do a reaction...only lyric videos available. In Xiumin's "Brand New" MV we see him turn the A/C on and then you see him in the snow. As you know, the ability to control frost/ice/snow is Xiumin's superpower. In all the EXO members' solo debut MVs we see something to do with them using their superpower. Therefore, in the "Brand New" MV we see Xiumin using his power to make it snow. However, snow isn't the only thing connected to EXO's storyline in this MV. Xiumin's character in EXO is supposed to like the cold because his power is frost, so in the MV he is happily changing the weather to snow and having fun in the snow. You even see him hugging a snowman/snowperson with a happy, dreamy look on his face like he is in love, which could be interpreted as the snowperson is representing his favorite person/people, EXO-Ls, and he is hugging us and showing us love, etc. In the beginning he adds the sticker "Art" to the stop sign turning Stop into St"Art", making this the starting point of the MV and the beginning of his art, etc. With this song, Xiumin said he was going for a retro '90s vibe with a modern twist and, I think he nailed it. And just like the majority of EXO's content, including their solo work, their storylines in their MVs can all be connected to EXO's storyline.
