It seems like these record players which have the mechanism built into the plinth are universally bad. They somehow found a way to take the already cheap Skywin mechanism and make an even cheaper knockoff of it. Same thing with the knockoffs of the Tanashin cassette mechanism. It's a shame that we've reached the point of cost-cutting where Crosley and Victrola suitcase players are actually superior!

Now that`s what i call a great player....Love the fact the cart drops so fast....means you get to hear your music quicker....And the tape player is awesome....It chews up tapes in stereo...What more could you want...The tight fitting record is good too, because it means if you tip the player upside down, the record will not fall off so easily...and the queing lever catching the side of the dust cover,is just one of those added little bonuses that make this so special....the quiet speakers too,..no complaints from the neighbours...Great review..I want one...

Man, this DIGITNOW! unit is the proverbial Jack of all trades, master of none. I'll never understand why manufacturers release these units upon the world without testing them properly. It's such short-term thinking because they won't get repeat business from dissatisfied customers.

At this price point, all you get is the basic Sunwin player with a few added features. The Sunwin is a cheap clone of the BSR/Capehart micro player from the 1980s.

Which format do you need to use for the USB stick, please? I tried exFAT ('REC' just sits there flashing at me), and NTFS (doesn't even attempt to show 'REC' when I press the button). I don't have a FAT32 option on my PC, strangely, but I can find such a formatter if need be. Thanks.

Another Chinese piece of jonque! They just keep reinventing this thing. That said, your reviews are quite useful because I think they may be prompting Crosley and others to actually up their game and product line. I certainly hope so. That's a scary unit. I'd hate to see a kid get one of them for Christmas. He or She'd be turned off from the hobby in no time.
Regarding the problem with the cassette playing. With age, cassettes dry up a little and the reels don't turn as freely as they once did. Offentimes you can loosen them up a little by gently slapping each side flatly against a table a couple of times.

    DigitnOUCH...
The problem with these DIGITNOW! lemons is I feel sorry for parents or younger people buying one of these units and getting all excited to play some records and perhaps cassettes too only to be disappointed straight out of the gate.
Units like this may even turn off a new generation from collecting records in the first place if they've walked away with a very bad first impression. This is yet another way to endanger the vinyl resurgence.

I bought one of these, out of curiosity, before watching this video, which, in turn, was before I unboxed it with some trepidation, but mine is fine, other than the undamped cue arm lift - which once you know, is easy to adjust to. Everything works well, including rape player and turntable, although the arm pivot bearings are a little slack. Mine works well, however the sound is somewhat thin, but if you regard this as a digitizing recorder (192kbps?) for multiple source formats, it works well as a secondary device, and I would cautiously recommend it, and at the price I paid (£65) consider it good value and fun.

    @TorontoJon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Let me be clear that, like Recordology, I'd like nothing more than to praise this unit and to champion it as a great starter record player to launch novice record collectors into the hobby, but given the ample video evidence here and Recordology's ever-honest reviews, we can all see how this unit fails on every level except aesthetics (It looks cool in its own way, but it can't do anything else properly).
Think of the Acoustic Research AR-XA turntable back in its day that was one of the most affordable units of its time (only $58 in 1961 dollars; well below its competition and only $90 even by 1972) and yet that gorgeous, well-built, very basic turntable is heralded to this day for its excellent engineering, rugged durability, and great sound performance which makes it all the more frustrating when so few low-priced turntables and all-in-one units can accomplish that feat today.
So, like Recordology, I'm still hoping for some up-and-coming record player manufacturer to knock our socks off with an incredibly well-made unit to give the much pricier competition a run for their money. :)

geez, cant anyone manufacture a quality entry level record player, i know the chinese manufactured units always had quality issues, but you would think that some electronic company, preferably in the u.s. (if there are any left) would put a little more pride and consideration when making these. i am sure cost has everything to do with it but i would not be opposed to paying more for a really decent constructed all in one record player, thanks for sharing this review and i am definitley crossing this one off the list! take care

Kind of a lousy product, as that cassette chewer is a disgrace right out of the box. And the hydraulic-less tonearm lifter which slams the tonearm onto the record like a ton of bricks is just as bad. But it was another fun unboxing just the same, Record-ology! You always make it fun! BTW, the one you were referring to (who took 3 years to realize that the clear plastic strip had to come off of the Cuisinart slow cooker read-out window) 'twas me. I've watched a number of your reviews, and these novelty players all seem to have a recurring theme of serious design flaws. I would not consider these entry level by any means, especially when they are the cost of 2 or 3 new albums. It would be nice to see some manufacturers come out with some halfway decent "entry level" (and not "novelty" or junk) all in one systems like back in the day in the 70's (I'm dating myself).

The quality issues with the DIGITNOW (the cuing lever scraping against the dust cover, the record touching the plastic, the loose headshell, lack of dampening on the cuing lever, and the cassette player not working correctly) can tell you that's not a very good product even compared to the cheap Crosley or Victrola suitcase players.
As a rule of thumb, anything from Amazon that's made by a no-name/unrecognizable company is usually guaranteed to be junk whatever it's a turntable, cassette player, boombox, TV antenna, Wi-Fi adapter, webcam, camera, AA batteries, "gaming" keyboard/mouse, headset, and even computers. They usually tend to have poor build quality, tend to have interior specs, likely not built to last, and in the case of rechargeable mice, usually have low capacity/poor quality batteries that have inferior battery life compared to mice using AA batteries (my Logitech K400 Plus and G602 lasts longer than this). Lastly, I've seen cheap no-name cassette boomboxes/players which tend to mono and/or use inferior components (knock-off Tanashin cassette mechanisms and counterfeit motors).

I hope you didn’t throw away the receipt. Take that thing back for a refund. That’s not “entry level” by any means. More like enter then take the stairs to the basement and it’s over there in the corner. Someone would be better off going onto eBay and buying an old Fisher Price or Vanity Fair player from the 70’s or 80’s and giving that as a gift to a kid or record beginner.

It's "Digit 👎 Now". Ya don't have to be 😕 confused with the capital letter on 👎"Now". It clearly depicts 33, 45, and 78 on the 📦 box. I 😔 wonder if the cartridge is ceramic or magnetic. I also 👍 like the plastic lid. Does it also do Bluetooth? It would be neat if ya also got into transcription records, but you'd need a record player that has an extra speed for them. It also looks 👍 like this record player has a cassette player on the side. Only if this is a 👍 good machine, play cassettes on it. I wanted to comment ya about this 👍 yesterday, but had to go to work. Also wanted to last 🌙 night, but fell asleep 😴. Had to get my zzz's 😴 instead. Your friend, Jeff.

Poor performance as it used the same actual turntable that is used across the board that costs $5.00. using something that costs as low as that says it all. Cheap and Nasty. Such a shame that people don't spend not much more and get a Audio Technica LP60 instead.

Looks like this one is pretty much a piece of junk right out the box. I don't care for cheap entry level electronics. In my opinion entry level is not a good value but as long as the various features of an all in one system work as intended then all is OK. The one you reviewed for to most part lacks any redeeming qualities. Build quality on this one is so bad nothing works as it should. I'm not planning to buy any new electronic
products in the entry level. field. It's good that you can tell uninformed consumers about very low quality electronics so they will stay away from buying them. In that sense you are performing a very valuable service to inexperienced buyers.
