It's only fixed if I can see the Weather channel on it! BRAVO!

What did you put back where you said the diode should be a resistor? Nice work as always!

I think a lot more of these have survived than might be expected. Especially for those that ran on batteries, it seems they landed in storage and were forgotten as soon as the novelty wore off. I really like them. Most of them have exceptional pictures, are pretty low hour and there's a composite video input somewhere. They make great little color video monitors if you're still doing anything with standard definition video equipment.
I'm a little surprised the capacitor didn't blow apart. Perhaps the transformer core saturated as a result of the overload and limited the current?

Yeah that is kind of surprising considering how it cracked the part that large diode. I'm just glad the damage wasn't worse than what it was

I’ve been repairing 1.5” Sinclair MTV1’s lately and they are some of the most finicky unpredictable with mind of their own devices I’ve ever worked on. And some parts are ether unmarked or unobtainium. Finally found some Varactor diodes that work for the leaky ones in the vhf tuner circuit. The originals have no markings or numbers on them just blank in transistor casings. And any schematics you can find are horrible and pretty much unreadable.

There’s lots of channels being broadcast still but digital and you can buy a digital to analog converter for $20. But instead i connected a Roku to rn rf modulator and amplifier it so it reaches several hundred feet.

For most people these portables don't have much use yea. I use a PortaVision on my electronics bench for quick testing VCR and game console repairs though since it does have composite inputs. I personally find it a lot less frustrating than fiddling around with an OSSC or a RetroTink, can just power on and go.
Also for a tube with some hours on it, that sure looks like a bright, crisp picture! Pretty nice surprise

I have a Roku connected to an rf modulator and then two rf amplifiers and an antenna so I’m broadcasting Roku on channel 9 throughout the whole house. I can watch twilight zone, price is right, unsolved mystery channels or TH-cam or Netflix on any old crt over the air 🤓

Probably made by Onwa. They also made sets for Memorex and Emerson.

Probably wouldn’t be difficult to convert to composite input and standard audio input

I don't get why you're wasting your time and resources you should just part it out. that's what any technician worth their salt would do because those TV's are useless for many reasons one of which being the ridiculously low dot pitch of the Sh*ty aperture grill Color picture tube, the picture could have been much sharper had it been a shadow mask. instead
