Suzi was one of the first women of rock who really had the Cool Chick appeal and she did break the ice and kicked the door down for the women in music who were inspired by her, the next batch kept coming and many were so grateful for someone like Suzi who allowed women to feel that they wanted to break free and if they could be the lead in a band, there was Nothing wrong with that ...now we have so many women who are the lead in the band...Thank you Suzi from all of the women in music..and great to see Suzi being given the Icon award for she is a trail blazer and she should be getting more awards for all she has done for women, she did start it all and she has done it with style. I will always remember 'Can The Can' ...it was a song that made her a HUGE star. Thank you Suzi for all you have done for women in music, I know the next generation will look up to you and the generation after that..for that is what music is all about . I loved Cherie Currie's speech as she spoke highly of Suzi and how she was inspired by this legend who she was going to be presenting her hero with this award. And how Suzi made her sacrifices for women out there. Cherie became a legend herself with her band The Runaways, in which the other member Joan Jett went on to become an amazing rock star. Before that there was Sister Rosetta Tharp, Wanda Jackson, Laurie Collins of the Collins Kids and several other women of Rockabilly. Just like Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochrane and other Rockabilly legends set the stage for the rockers that followed; so, too, did the rockabilly women set the stage for the women rockers.
Nope. Suzi Quatro was in the early 60s too with The Pleasure Seekers/Cradle with her sisters did you not hear them say that or know this. Suzi Quatro is The FIRST Lady of Rock and The QUEEN of Rock 'N' Roll and NO ONE will EVER come close. Name all of them if you want but NONE OF THEM did what Suzi Quatro did and still does today.
