Yes, it is sad how little many Croatians know about what lies east of Zagreb

Partly due to the shape of our country, partly due to Bosnians being so disfunctional that they will most probably never finish up that Vc highway corridor which would otherwise connect Dalmatia with Slavonia
Thank you,Paul, for introducing us beautiful Croatia😍 and my special thanks for subtitles in croatian🌹🌹🌹i’m beginner learner and trying to find sources with with such, it’s not easy in Canada🤨
Paul, wonderful video as always. Thank you for visiting us again and showing your love for this part of Croatia. I hope my fellow citizens hosted you properly.. Unofficial Minister of Tourism, stay well. 😊
Wow, for an Englishman to pronounce "Tvrđa" - with all those consonants - so perfectly... As a guy from Osijek (and an English interpreter who's had experience with foreigners trying to pronounce Croatian words and names), I have to say it's impressive.
I'm born in Osijek, and I live in Osijek all my life. Changes are obvious in last few years because we got great, young and modern mayor who actually cares. It's not just a trend, it's because of politics.
Mosquito 6:01 My experience in Osijek in 2023 was very pleasant, no Mosquito bites at all! I congratulate the local authorities on this success. I hope in future they don't resort to lab created GM mosquitos that has been tried in many parts of the world for decades with dismal success rates.
@@TheLordboki Other than Osijek where I encountered no mosquitos the places I went were inundated with them, those places being Suza, Zmajevac, Dunube and Liberland.
Osijek is my hometown, and frankly I moved to Zagreb to find work. Outside of the poor employment opportunities and an overall lackluster social climate (aging population due to emigration), it's a relatively nice place to live in. Not all bad by any means, but hardly a vibrant place either. I loved the video, though. Thanks for visiting Osijek!
Slavonian friend told me of a Dutch agricultural firm wanting to open up in Slavonija and buy abandoned land . There was so much corruption and red tape they left after 2 months of trying . This is a complete and total disgrace Local officials are expert at claiming EU funds but fail to assist in development opportunities . You do not hear stories like this !!
Thank you for the completely free advertising for our town... But still, you should have included our new stadium in the script you were given to read. Imagine reporting on 10 things about London in 1923 and not mentioning Wembley just because it was built by Hungarians.
@@PaulBradbury Even the workers who built the underpass in Čepinska Street or that Jabulani thing (wherever it is) wouldn't mention them before Opus Arena :)... Not to mention the exhibition... more people in Eternia know the secret of He-man, or who is back-up goalkeeper of FC Osijek, than the citizens of Osijek know about existence of this exhibition :)
Well 9 out of the 10 things came from osijek residents, so not sure i understand why it was not objective. As for elections, it is the first of a big series of at least 20 towns in croatia over the next 12 months. This just happened to be the first.
@@PaulBradbury9/10 doubt it. I'm pretty sure that plebs would definitely first mention Opus Arena and/or IT Park rather then art show or Cultural center.
Great work Lord Mayor of Osijek and i appreciate the importance of advertising accomplishments in a detail oriented fashion advising us of the spaces provided for child care, which is not an easy task and something worth remembering that someone had to expand energy and effort and investment to make happen. We are so ungrateful. So so ungrateful. Keep up the great work! Heres hoping Europe can make the Balkans great again, restoring them from the 500 years of Ottoman pillage. Insieme!
Osijek is the capital of Baranja, Osijek-Baranja County, not Slavonia, there is also Požega-Slavonia County, the capital is Požega! People always forget about Baranja, I don't blame you for making a mistake because Croatians themselves don't know about Baranja or ignore it, they always mention Slavonia!
Osijek is not in Baranja and it's certainly not a capital of Baranja... The only town in Baranja is Beli Manastir. Osijek IS the capital of all the eastern part of Croatia, therefore Slavonia as well (5 Slavonian counties).
I don't know where you are from, I live in Beli Manastir! Osijek is located right next to the border with Baranja on the Drava River and a small part of the city is located in Baranja! Beli Manastir is not the administrative center of Baranja, in Beli Manastir there are only offices for all administrations, the main administration for Baranja is in Osijek. @@HelenSmith-zz4py

Salaries are low especially in this part of Croatia...That did not change at all. Only maybe Osijek is exception. Osijek has a very good mayor and his administration is doing all that is possible given the whole socioeconomic environment in Croatia.
