    Good Review Dustin. For the price and the speed, the Aqara sensors are awesome. Those metal doors can really throw things off. I have one opening to garage and I’ve run into the same issue. Luckily it’s an easy fix.

    Thanks for the video Dustin, super helpful! I was curious if the technical issues you were having with contact sensor was that it was giving you a false reading or if It was displaying as "No Response" in HomeKit? Why I ask is I recently purchased 3 contact sensors and the Aqara G2H as my Hub. Set up wise, I have 1 contact sensor on my front door (~15ft away from the hub) and then 2 more sensors on 2 sets of windows (~20-25ft away from the hub). I remember in your video you had mentioned that you ran into some reading issues and switching the main unit to the window/door itself did the trick. My question is, were you experiencing a "no response" in HomeKit, or was the contact sensor reading open/close incorrectly? I've purchased a second Aqara G2H that will be placed closer to the 2 windows so I'm hoping that may be the problem, but I was feel like it maybe because of the metal window jam/frame as you mentioned in your video.

      Oh man I’m so glad you got something good out of the video! The furthest sensor I have is about 30 ft. from its hub. The also goal strength shows as poor, but I haven’t noticed not responding. I have another accessory in the studio that does disconnect often; but I think it’s just outside the hubs range. I also have a G2H in that room that I connected these to accessories to and ZERO problems.

    Have you come across any HK outdoor contact sensors YET? Thinking of trying out the ring outdoor contact sensor into hoobs. It’s the only outdoor weatherproof ready to go mountable contact sensor ;(

      Unfortunately, I have not. I’ve been looking for one ever since I knew with a contact sensor was and I still haven’t found one.

    can you adjust the sensitivty of hte door sensor, so when the wind blows, the sensor does not say, door has been opeend!!

    • @myHomeKithome
      @myHomeKithome  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not that I am aware of unfortunately. Since it uses a magnet to determine it's open or closed state, it's kind of all or nothing. I haven't heard of a contact sensor having the ability to adjust its sensitivity, but that would be an interesting issue to tackle. Thanks for watching!

    Just found your channel and it’s great!!
    Does the sensor need a hub to connect to HomeKit?

    • @myHomeKithome
      @myHomeKithome  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We'll, welcome friend! It's funny you ask about this specific sensor. THe one I reviewed in the video does require an Aqara hub since it's connects over Zigbee. However, Aqara just released a Thread-powered door and window sensor that only requires a Thread border router like a HomePod or Apple TV. Thanks for watching!

      @@myHomeKithome I have pretty much all - water, motion, vibration, and smoke. Water sensor is pretty reliable but may go offline once in awhile. Motion sensor sometimes wont turn on my lights or turn off too soon. Vibration sensor - doesnt work well. You can set it to tilt, vibrate, or fall, it doesnt matter, it will trigger no matter what happens.

    Have you compared this to a Nest Secure sensor? (Ignoring the fact that they also function as a motion sensor)

      I haven’t. I’ve not spent much time at all with any of the Nest products really.

    Does the Aqara Door sensor work with a Amazon Echo Zigbee hub? I dont want more Hubs 😂

    • @myHomeKithome
      @myHomeKithome  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can neither confirm nor deny this. Sorry. The good thing is that most Aqara hugs serve multiple functions. They also work over Wi-Fi so you don’t need to use an ethernet port on your router.

      Have you checked all of the rooms in your HomeKit home? I have found that from time to time these child devices can wind up in different rooms. I would always check the room where you have the hub located first. Also, make sure that your firmware is up-to-date on the hub. If these don’t work, I would contact support.
