Conjuring 2 is based on a true story in my town...
I love Mary scream’s 😂😂😂
If you plan to watch the Conjuring Universe watch them in this order.
The Conjuring (This Movie).
Annabelle.
The Conjuring 2.
Annabelle Creation.
The Nun.
The Curse Of La Llorona (Optional).
Annabelle Comes Home.
The Conjuring The Devil Made Me Do It.
The Nun 2.
Disappointed that Mary Cherry isn't eating very cherry jelly beans during Halloween
I thought Insidious was good too. Just the first one.
The spirit of Rory is just one of a kid that was killed in that house. If you realize, the only thing it does the whole movie is show the kids where to hide. I believe it was trying to protect them
Despite having a fairly standard haunted house horror plot, James Wan has created a fun, scary and beautiful looking horror movie.
That's true.
It’s not standard lol, it’s based on what happened to the real Perron family but they had to dial it down because the stories the eldest daughter told from what they really experienced were a lot scarier
@@pandasanding7036They didn't experience anything. The Warrens were full of it.
@@greed13XThe Warrens may have been full of it but what really happened to the family that lived in that house most certainly was not.
@@pandasanding7036I read the first book written by Andrea, the oldest of the daughters. It was good and creepy. Crazy what they said happened to them while they lived there.
On a $20 million dollar budget, it made $330 million dollars at the box office.
That must be an amazing feeling.
@@Nemisis007 Paranormal Activity had a budget of $15,000 and made $193 million.
It’s no wonder why both The Conjuring and Paranormal Activity each went on to create their own universes full of movies.
@@jinjerjunkieBlair Witch also had a crazy profit margin.
They took my $8.50 lol 😅
The first two thirds of the movie are a combination of actual events and stories that were tamed down for the movie. Then the last third was mostly made up for the movie. An exorcism was never done at the house. I've listened to interviews with the family members.
yep
There are no actual events, it was all a fake.
The Warrens were con artists.
There is even a documentory of the events. I watched it and i have to say it was really interesting.
It's all made up. Isn't it such a coincidence that irreligious or non-superstitious people are never haunted?
Still remember seeing this masterpiece in theaters 10 years ago, I feel old af
Cool! What was the very first movie you ever saw in a theater? That definitely maxes out those feelings!
I clearly remember watching E.T. in the theater. "Just keep livin'. L-I-V-I-N". -Wooderson
@@thorstrebla980 The first movie I was allowed to go to see in theaters without an adult was Terminator 2, and that definitely makes me feel old 😂
@@flingonber I took my grandkids to the premiere of "The Wizard of Oz", so you're still young.
The Conjuring 2 is definitely my James Wan horror film. You should continue with the series, the Annabelle movies are fun too.
Yes the conjuring 2 is the best one
@@zTaq🤡
Yeah.
"FUN" 😂😂😂
When you watch the conjuring 2 you will find out why Lorraine locked herself in their room for 8 days. Also fun fact when Carolin goes to see Ed and Lorraine at the college the real Lorraine Warren was sitting in the front row as she was a big part of all the conjuring movies up until her death.
The actress who plays the Mom in the family is Lili Taylor, she’s been in soooo many amazing films. She plays more “character actor” type roles, but one she starred in with River Phoenix is soooo good!! They are the main characters and it’s just a beautiful film. It’s also not a big name film and it’s harder to find a copy, but it’s so worth it. The movie is called “Dogfight”. Anyone else see it or remember it?
All the movies in The Conjuring universe (including Annabelle and The Nun) are based on the work of Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal invesigators from New England from the 1960s-1980s. Their house is now a museum detailing all the cases they worked and the cursed artifacts they removed.
It (the room with the objects) was always a museum which they used to charge people to see.
@@harish123az It's now closed but the son-in-law will provide a video tour for $5.99 and another deal with downloads for $19.99. The grifting continues.
The great magazine “ skeptical inquirer debunked all their work. The movies are still enjoyable.
@@MrGlenspace I grew up in Monroe, CT at a time when they were still preforming. Everyone knew them as the con artists they were. Ed Warren never did a days work in his life. Oddly, no one ever mentions Judith Penney. People will believe what they choose.
@@MrGlenspacewhy would it be surprising that a magazine called skeptical Inquirer would "debunk" all their work? That's almost a prerequisite for such a magazine.
The sound design is top notch in this, really helps sell the scares.
I completely agree with you, this movie was more scary than house of a thousand corpses. To me, suspense is more scary than gore.
House of 1000 Corpses wasn’t really a horror movie, it was more of a “dark comedy”
Easily one of my favorite paranormal horror movies. James Wan is an amazing director. Best one in our generation when it comes to scary movies. Now that you started it, it is time to binge watch the whole Conjuring Universe
I laughed so hard at the "Look What You Made Me Do" insert. That was gold!
Another amazing reaction Mary! You were scared but also managed to bring that Mary Cherry sass and humor
I always get a little emotional at the flashes of the beach day when they are trying to get Caroline back. Giving her the strength through love to expell the demon
Bringing prestige back in horror. Very, very, very, scary. Cool reaction as always Mary, you take care and have a nice day sweetie 🥰❤️
Easily one of my favorite horror movies to come out in the past decade. Imo, this is the best one out of the series! When I saw you watched it and posted it I literally went, "Yes, Mary! I love this movie!"
About the kids not seeming to hear all the commotion of the pictures falling and the mom is kind of explained by the actual family that lived there. They said that when they would have an experience it was almost like they were in a bubble. No amount of screaming would wake anybody. They eventually went everywhere at night with a partner. Even to go to the bathroom. They had more experiences when they were alone.
The Warrens lived a few houses up the street from my ex’s grandmother; nice people, but I never got to see the collection in the basement…
Rory was in the music box at end. Very hard to see but he’s peeking through the shelf just as the thud of music and screen goes black
No way! I’ve watched this movie so many times and never noticed that 😱
I can’t believe I’ve never noticed that either! I’ve seen it plenty of times and always missed it.
not true. that's a mask
Watches The Conjuring happy ending, Watches Sinister, me laughing
I kept on waiting for some reactor to put in a clip of Taylor Swift at the "look what she made me do" part....leave it to Mary to come through! 😂
bro 😭😭😭😭 the scene w the closet door holds the scariest shit ever bro tht shit gave me skraighr anxiety after seing it and bro im being dead serious i watch all scary movies inna pitch black room with loud headphones so tht shit deadass made my whole body just uneasy tense and jss 😭😭😭
"Something wrong with her"
She says while both drinking their cup 🤣🤣🍵
That was some good scare-reacting! Now you'll just have to see The Babadook in time for Halloween
At the end the the movie, when Lorraine says, "There's a case in Long Island he'd like to discuss," she was talking about the Amityville Horror case.
Lorraine Warren's actually a consultant on this movie. And everything that happened in the movie is everything she and the actual family experienced during this haunting and possession. This is based on a very true story.
Except the family has contradicted them in many points and a lot of Warrens' clients have said they were absolute frauds including the one from the second movie. They were even taken in by the Amityville lie which the family themselves admitted was fraud.
They are con artists
No. It's based on what The Warrens perceive as "true." They were frauds and exploiters.
@@limjahey5528 that's relative. I've got good news. God is good because He gives His blessings to everyone, whether they be good or bad. but everyone has at least, told a lie, or stolen something in their life. and that makes them sinners, and God cannot stand one iota of sin in His presence, because He is holy. so, God has to punish the sinners in hell, because God is just. but God is also love and He made a way for some to be saved from His wrath. here are the steps:
1. admit that you're a sinner and are lost.
2. realize that the penalty of sin is death (hell).
3. believe that Jesus (who is God in the flesh) died on the cross, was buried, then rose from the grave, to pay the penalty for man's past, present, and future sins.
4. trust Christ alone as your Savior, and not on your own good deeds to get you to heaven (nor a combination of faith and your self-righteous works).
5. pray to God NOW that you're following these steps because if you die before making this decision, it's too late, and you'll 🔥🔥😰
6. to know and do God's will for your life, read the KJV bible, go to a bible believing church and tell people about Jesus on a regular basis.
There's no such thing as ghosts and demons....so all this definitely didn't happen in real life.
My favorite James Wan film is actually the sequel to The Conjuring, saw it in cinemas when it came out-- great video Mary!!
In talking about directors, you know James Wan, and his work. James Wan did the first Saw movie. And the first Insidious movie. He went on to do Furious 7 and Aquaman 1 and 2.
Conjuring 2 is my favorite James Wan movie. There are some brilliant moments in it. Directorial choices that elevate the material to another level. His patience in milking a scene for the ultimate tension building is so much fun! The original Saw would be another high mark in his career.
I love how Caroline coming back to her true self in the end to her family and that happy family flashback from the beach made you emotional and cry. It literary did the same for me when I watched it the second time. This movie is a fucking Masterpiece!
Fun story.. a friend of mine knew the youngest child from this family at the end of her life after she moved to Atlanta.. the true story is more f’ed up than the movie .. and the thing in the house continued to haunt her even later in life .. also the the Warren’s were not nice people …
@@mr.awesomecatfuzzypants2989 down side is she passed away.. so no book. And yes.. Warrens are problematic for a few reasons but that’s people for you…
@@mr.awesomecatfuzzypants2989 she died in 2017 from an OD, so it seems unlikely unless any other of the family wish to write about it
Thank you for putting urself thru this for our entertainment
The young sister who gets pulled on, is played by Joey King. She is one of my favorite actresses.
Imagine there was no such things as demons? Man we would feel like such fools.
The jump scares got me. I nearly jumped off the sofa and my husband just laughed at me.
You seemed to enjoy this. The next movie is the first spin-off *Annabelle (2014)* and then that is followed by the sequel; *The Conjuring 2 (2016).*
I really enjoyed this series, it's well acted and atmospheric.
Although The Conjuring is based on a true story, director James Wan employed a lot of creative license to make it more theater-friendly.
No one can gas light like a horror movie husband
Casino Royale would be a good James Bond entry point. It was a "reboot"/origin story when Daniel Craig took on the role. Also one of, if not the, strongest entries in the franchise from a cinematic point of view
The real Annabelle doll is actually a raggedy ann doll
The actual real life annabelle doll is creepy. My mom had a raggedy ann. I told her to toss it.
if you watch during the ending credits, you would see the actual family and such that inspired teh film, same with conjuring 2
Maybe someone already mentioned this but, the real Lorraine Warren appears in the movie, she is one of the people who are listening to the conference that Ed and "Lorraine" are giving.
Oh and Mary, you have seen a James Wan movie, which one would be "AQUAMAN"
Great reaction as always.
The real Lorraine Warren is the old lady sitting in their class scene.
If you allow yourself to be bothered by no survivors in horror movies you will for the most part aways ruin the experience for yourself. Horror movies rarely have satisfying endings when it comes to that
The Warrens most famous cases are
1. The Amityville Case (1974)
2. The Southend Werewolf (1989)
3. The Smurl Haunting (1974)
4. Annabelle The Doll (1971) (Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation)
5. The Enfield Poltergeist (1977) (The Conjuring 2)
6. The Perron Family (1971) (The Conjuring)
7. The Snekeder House (1986)
8. The Devil Made Me Do It (1981) (The Conjuring 3)
I love both Insidious and Conjuring franchises by Wan. I love horror movies, but I'm generally not scared by them. Sometimes there is suspense but not necessarily scary suspense.
And these two franchises were the first films in a long time to even raise the hairs on my arms with creepy atmosphere and visuals AND the music. They are just so good.
The Witch part was added but it really is based on a true story
25:49- Now you know the Amityville problem.
Although Lorraine Warren said that she didn't let the director take many liberties for dramatic effect, the Perron family themselves have said that this film is 5% reality, 95% fiction. Still a great film though.
This movie is tense as hell, the ending is a bit crazy but the small things are the scarier ones
So glad you watched this movie. It’s one of my all time favorites. 😈
i was 15 when i watched this movie in theaters. it was either sit at the hotel by myself for 5 hours or go see the movie and get dinner after. i could not sleep for a week after that
the song at 26:30 minutes in that you sang was a nostalgia trip haha
The Conjuring 2 is my favorite
There was a book written by one of the daughters about what happened, and they also said that it was much worse than the movie showed. For the non-believers, they did show the actual footage taken at the end credits.
There was a TV show Paranormal Activity that investigated possible hauntings, they did enlist Lorrain Warren in a few of the episodes.
the sequel gets even better. it's like lethal weapon where the sequels actually improved on the originally concepts.
And if I remember correctly april actually wrote a book on what happened in the house
Ed and Lorraine are goals, and Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have amazing chemistry. Every moment they're not on screen in this franchise is a moment lost.
I hope Mary doesn't have nightmares. I bet she's a kicker 😂🤣
Great reaction Mary, really not a horror movie fan, "Conjuring 2" is probably my favorite James Wan film. 🥰❤️🔥
I've been wondering what type of vitamins I need to take in order to used to pick you up, because apparently I haven't been strong enough.
This one and the 2nd one are my favorite ones.
What scared you more: all of the disturbing imagery or the fact that this actually happened? BTW, the old lady attending the lecture In the beginning? That was the actual Lorraine Warren. Shortly before she passed away, she responded to a question I had for her so kindly! It related to what was the best part about being a demonologist. Her response? Caring for the families and making sure that they were safe. She was an absolute sweetheart!
Yeah ppl got burned as a whiches to. True story, just everything around it is bullshit.
Ohhh! nearlt quarter of a million subscribers Mary! bet u never thought 250,000 people would like u enough to sit and watch u watching movies! well! that's easy cos your laugh is adorable and when you're scared it's so funny! keep up the great work Lass and congratulations for the sub milestone when it comes!
It's funny how people believe this nonsense is real.
More sad than funny but your obsoletely right. People will believe anything and freely pass on what they believe as true.
Ed and Lorraine Warren are real people. So to the extent that it's based on their say so, it's a true story.
25:44 and that is the whole premise of one of the sequels: The Conjuring - The Devil Made Me Do It
Creepy that I watched this last night at the same time
Great reaction Mary, and yes, this movie also freaked me out!! Please do 'Event horizon - 1997', IT - 1990 and 'The Amityville Horror - 1979'.
James Wan directed the first Saw. You should totally watch
Surprised an ozzie doesn’t know that James wan is also an ozzie. Happy hellowbeans
The conjuring movies, Annabelle movie, the insidious movies, the first nun movie and the paranormal activity movies are my favorite scary movies
Every time the clapping hands start, I join in and start flamenco dancing. It's a nervous habit. Ghost join in if you're dancing, or act like a ghost yourself and join in the dishevelling. Throw something on the ground, turn the lights and faucets on and off and open all the doors and cabinets yourself. That'll confuse 'em. No, don't...
This is why I love the Conjuring universe and the Insidious series. Less people dying for stupid reasons and the forces of good always winning. James Wan is a master of horror storytelling. Love Ed and Lorraine's dynamic which is the reason this series work so well. Check out the rest of the connected universe if you're up to it and also the aforementioned Insidious series.
unfortunately it really happened
Joey King said when she was making this movie that she got a blood condition that made her super fragile and had to take iron supplements. They were even afraid to do certain scenes with her. As soon as the movie shoot ended and she went home, the condition went away and she's never had it before or since.
Mary, you have such great reactions to scary scenes. I loved it!
I've watched my share of scary movies. In my book, it is the scariest.
it is based on the true story, but the true events were actually about 10 times more terrifying, the film makers did not actually show everything
"Based on a true story" just means they got the idea to make the movie from a story they heard, not that the events in the movie actually happened. Ed and Lorraine exploited people for money. They were not good people. You can look them up and form your own opinion, if you're interested in learning more. That said, I really enjoyed The Conjuring. Not only do I like it as a horror film, but also as a film compared to all other genres.
Can’t believe how far down I had to scroll for someone to point out the Warrens were grifters
Always wanted this movie remade except when the dog dies, they bring in Keanu Reeves as John Constantine to go John Wick on the demons.
i know a guy who visited the museum featured in this film, and he was teasing the doll. in all the photos they took there everyones face is fine except his is blurred, reallly creepy
It was based on true events, the ending credits show the real people.
cherry whenever movies say “based on a true story”, it jus means they referenced a name of a person(s) or town thing whatever
I loved your remark for that opening, it was incredibly stupid to invite Annabelle to live with them. This is one of the movies that I have to look away sometimes, another recommendation for Halloween comedies would be "Once Bitten" with Jim Carrey.
Gotta love the guts of watching horror movies at home, alone. All of the movies in the Conjuring universe are good and worth watching in order. For a little extra Halloween fun I'd like to recommend some seldom seen but effective chillers. The Legend of Hell House (1973),The Babadook (2014), The Haunting (1999, and also starring Lili Taylor, the mom in this movie), and Mirrors (2008). Plenty of nights before Halloween. Have fun.
Noticed it a few times but your accent switches from Aus to American quite a few times in your videos found it kinda funny
14:04 yeah the kids probably heard something but I guess they decide to take your advice and not going out to investigate the mysterious noise hahaha
so this 12:05 right here was absplutly terrifying because ugh i dnt like to talk abt it too much but there was a time my mom said around 2:40 in the morning my brothers piicture had fell of the wall and mine was kinda dangling
Definitely one of my favorite movies. Especially the part where they're explaining how the person gets possessed. It explains what I was literally going through during that moment. I have a lot of respect for this after that experience
13 ghosts is a good film to watch
29:00 Getting emotional only means that you get the powerful meaning of scene. You'll be surprise if you know how many didn't.
Don't Worry Mary... The events that happened in this movie DIDN'T happen in real life... The real life event was MUCH worse... The movie is actually rewritten to be tamer for theaters....
oh and don't forget watching credits, they show some real photos and recordings!!
I'm proud of you, Mary.
WATCH THE CONJURING 2 PLEASE THATS THE BEST IN THE FRANCHISE 😭
What's funny is Lili Taylor is in one of the best haunted house movies and one of the worst (The Haunting)
Wait if the spirit isn't in the mirrior, isn't it attached to someone then...
