Vanderwolf Pyramid (Limber) pine, and Virginia pine growing in Tennessee.

  • So far the "Vanderwolf Pyramid" cultivar of the Limber Pine (pinus flexilis) appears to be growing well in Tennessee even though this species is native to the western US. I also show some small Virginia Pines (pinus virginiana), which are native to Tennessee.

    any updates on these pines? i bought 3 and 1 didnt make it, im in middle TN

      Difficult question! I made a video a while back discussing the question of which is best, and they all have pros and cons. My favorite is probably chinese hemlock (tsuga chinensis) because it is totally resistant to hemlock wooly adelgid and it is impossible to find. I just got one by luck.

      Both pines are growing well. The virginia pines are actually growing too fast in some cases... i'm worried that the roots and trunk can't keep up with the rapid growth.
