They really could have closed the airspace for this flight, imagine being the guy fying a slimber 40 trainer in the same sky as this jet - the nerve! Ali would not be phased though but still
I don't think fullsize pilots flying in a display would feel quite the same about that. And I know I wouldnt think that either if that was my F104 and someone was flying it. In some big countries, consenting adults can take their planes away from populated areas so their accidents dont present a risk to the non modelling public (though those standing right in line with the low passes might have been taking a risk). But in the UK, where I live, that's not so easy to do. And was this flight part of a display? My feeling also is that it might be courteous to give both the F104 pilot and the film maker a clear field for both vision and audio, so as not to risk spoiling a good video. But hey, its up to the folk in question. Great flying and a stunning plane 👍
@@hechtspeed Well, I'm a pilot, both model and fullsize, and general feedback has suggested my peers think I'm a good pilot. And for the reputation of sports flying generally, and for the safety of (and out of consideration for) both the flying and non flying public, I think I might have stayed on the ground and enjoyed the show rather than attempt to fly in the same airspace. So perhaps that statement could be modified to exclude any good pilot like me. There's an old saying in aviation: there are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are rather fewer old bold pilots. Caution is a good trait in a pilot.
@@mikeonb4c knowing your limits and abilities is key. Clearly Ali had no concerns or he wouldnt have flown. As long as youre being respectful of the pattern and have a good spotter i see no problem with it
@@hechtspeed We dont plan to crash but we wear a parachute in case. We don't plan to fail to complete a loop or a turn, but we (should) keep both manoeuvres away from the crowd just in case. It's all about mitigating risk, so we don't have to explain how something avoidable happened at an enquiry. Because they won't accept an argument where the pilot says he was quite sure there would be no problem. Personally, I think a display like that should be done without other aircraft there to cause a possible conflict, and without stray observers standing right in the way of any error on a low pass. But I don't question the pilots flying skills, and everyone shares responsibility for their own and others safety in the 'consenting adults' setting of a model flying club set some distance away from the non flying public.

without long words, that was perfect 👌💯 .....thumbs up👍👍
I thought exactly the same. I would have preferred to keep my engine off and stay on the ground while the F104 was flying - I would have just relaxed and watched something special, knowing I was not going to be collision risk.
A poor example of flight line management. You have a jet that can cover the ground at 3 times what a prop airplane can. Jet of that size should command a complete open sky. This is how mid-airs happen.
@@brianrtaco I can only comment on my comments (!). I use the term 'consenting adults' advisedly. What a club gets up to (as long as its away from the general public) is its own business and it's up to the members what they choose to do. But if I had been there, I would have asked if members minded giving the F104 owner and pilot a clear sky so they and everyone could enjoy a display entirely free (birdstrikes excepted) of risk of collision. It would have made for an unspoiled video too. But hey, I'm only offering thoughts, which I hope will be taken in good spirit. Great plane, great pilot, great display, great video 👍
Ali is a very talented pilot… I had the opportunity quite a few years ago to visit Brian’s “hangar” at Wings over the Rockies, where he had one of those F-84s opened up. Quite an eyeful of systems stuffed in there. Serious modeling.
I admire all the skill involved here on display. Thank you.
One of the best landings of a difficult to land fast jet on all of youtube. Wow!

This was at a very busy event. All large..fast and expensive models. Clearly Ali had no issues flying with otger traffic otherwise he wouldnt have
Many EXPENSIVE aircraft routinely fly TOGETHER at many events. Sharpens everyone's game from sport to expert.!
Yep. The good pilots arnt afraid to fly expensive stuff around others

Incredible pilot skills, lands right on the numbers in that hot rod.
He dropped it in hard, not a good landing 😢
The field should have been shut down out of consideration for a $$$$$ 1/4 scale jet to be able to fly peacefully!

Lots of armchair quarterbacking going on here in the comments.

Ali really makes a jet shine. I have a 5th scale skymaster f104 and love it, it flies like a long F16.

An excellent display. Thanks for sharing.
The only thing missing is the classic banshee howl of the GE-J79!
Amazing looks so good in the air hate to think of the cost but I love it.
Wow what a beauty!!!
Very nice....always wanted a scale F-104.
Congratulations Ali, greetings from Remi, Belgium
Ali is so damn good.
You arnt lying. Takes tx to my t38...turns down wind and starts doing slow rolls lolol
@@hechtspeed lol
Yes, I think IMO if a jet like that is flying he should have the field not have to worry about slower AC.
If ali had concerns he probably wouldnt have flown
@@hechtspeed some safety but I mean out of respect for man and machine. So beautiful I know I'd have my camera out! 😂
It looks so real 😮
Awe-inspiring skill...!
That's quite a jet, very nice..
WOW! Beautiful!!
Didn’t make it this time, was enjoying the skies at AMPS because everyone was at Sun Valley! See ya soon Brent!
I admire the floen skills of the person who wrote the title of this video. 😂
Good thing i fly better than i type...lolol got me! Lol
Nice set!
badass!!!!

Really nice!!
I wish I could have made this event
We missed you, Victor
I wouldn’t have the gal to even start my engine whilst that missile is flying!
Nice sounding Gasser i the audio!!!
Hard to get arouns at busy events
