    Glad to hear that the service was good. Are you going to have to pay to return the parts? Also, if you end up keeping the blade it would be fun to see a cross section. I did one with San Mai and it was correct. Kobuse is a little harder and it would be fun to see proof in the pudding so to speak.

      There's a part 2 follow up video here as well, but basically they made and entirely new sword and sent it free of charge as a replacement. They didn't want the old one back, so I sent it to the man in black for a refit. It turned out to be a great cutter and eventually I sold both to fund more motoharas.

    Good review dude. I own an unokubi by them. Beat the hell out of her for over a year and she has held up nicely. My friend Karl Ruedger has several and swears by them. If you want some combination that isn't made by a production company, they're definitely a viable option.

      Wow. That hamon looks almost identical to mine. I requested monosteel, but when she showed up, she had those same ripples ndar the border of the hamon. I ended up showing pics to an expert (Jon Andresen) he said that it is a laminated blade and looked much better than your average Chinese stuff...

    Was the samegawa on the saya grippy? Or just smooth and lacquered like the rest of the saya?

    • @scottjua
      @scottjua  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was real silk, so just like a traditional nihonto. Maybe not as high quality silk as can be found in japan but still it was real silk. Not lacquered

      Sorry... I realized you asked about samegawa. No you're right it was laquered smooth. Not grippy like raw stuff

      @@scottjua thank you for the reply! I've been trying to find out if that kind of saya is like a real samemaki.

    I lost alot of faith in these custom companies, like swords of Northshire, not good CS...are they worth a look at you think?

    • @scottjua
      @scottjua  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      probably not honestly. The only one I KNOW will be good is huawei. Or anything CAS iberia that you can get in the states... At least not direct from China is the safest thing. Unfortunately anything from kult of athena, or other places is more expensive for what you get.

      @@scottjua I appreciate the quick reply, thanks for a well done review, I sent them configuration for a quote, but I may not chance it...I may just go with Ronin dojo pro for my next Katana as I heard good things about them...from Matt and such...its very confusing who to trust. I dont review them so I can't afford to make a mistake

    Is there a way you might test the heat treatment maybe? Simple edge retention or if the blade has a little spring to it? I'm thinking of one myself but I've never had a DH blade from sinosword before. If so that would be majorly appreciated.

    • @scottjua

      I plan to make or get made a new tsuka for this blade, so I can cut tatami with it. I'll put it up against the replacement when it comes as well.

      I've beat the hell out of my DH1095 in unokubi zukuri by them for over a year. She has held up nicely. They did a good job on the steel for mine.

    These guys are awesome. I've ordered 2 iaito, several sets of koshirae, and a tanto through them over the years and they are great with me. I'm in Japan so that gives them an extra headache for shipping the iaito and stuff, but always no issues in the end. The tanto I ordered for whatever reason came with no furniture (just the blade and the habaki) so they refunded it lol that was the only mistake they've ever made. They've always given more than I ask for in every other case.
