A Mixtape is a cassette tape, you are right, but it’s specifically a mix of your favorite songs. It originated on cassettes because the Walkman with its first time ever portable music gave us the ability to record whatever we wanted, personal to our individual tastes. It was revolutionary to be able to mix up your songs.

Hi Ramona. I'm sure I knew that back in the day, but I never bought albums and very few tapes as a kid. I was too busy practicing the piano and performing then with my high school and college groups. Thanks for the info! Stay Creative!

I got this for Christmas and I love it so much! I have read both of Austin's other books and this one compliments them perfectly. Wonderful review, thanks for sharing. Xx

LOVE this! Thanks so much for your review, Barb. When you were grasping for "dot grid" I was doing the same thing. I remember cassette tapes (still have some)! A mix tape was making a mix of different songs (on a cassette tape), vs. recording an entire album. Or at least, that's what I used to do, back in the day. ;-)

Hi Hali! I tell you - the brain fade with such a simple phrase like "dot grid"!!! Then, suddenly it pops back into the mind. Lol! I have to admit that I wasn't much of a "tape" person when I was a kid. Although I owned cassettes, they were usually purchased ones. I was too busy practicing the piano - my first love. Sometimes I recorded myself, so I guess I made my own mix tapes. ;-) Good memories. Thanks, Hali, for watching and leaving such a sweet comment. Stay Creative!

Hi, Barb, after watching your review of Austin's Steal Like An Artist book. I found them on the Book Depository web site and of course, just had to buy them. An early Christmas present to me! I've started using the journal having fun just flipping to a random page and completing the exercise. Love your reviews. Thanks x

Thanks so much for making this video, Barb! I am feeling very compelled to do some sort of creative dynamic and integrate it into my life- you know: the whole "New Year's Resolutions" thing. The video is great, as always, but could you maybe focus on the book next time? It was a bit difficult to distinguish between some letters, but it was overall pretty amazing. Keep it up, and have a great 2018!

Hey Barb, Do you have any recommendations of journals similar to this ?

Hi Bibi. I'm not familiar with any other specific journals like this one but I'm sure a search on Amazon will yield a ton of choices. Otherwise I'd just make it up myself so it can meet the specific need you have. I've made and used lots of different journals, too. All are great, I think. Thanks for watching. Stay Creative!
