Thanks to everyone for the immense love you've shown towards the intro. However, I'm trying something different today and leaving it out. There have been some peculiarities with TH-cam lately, and despite the affection many of you have for the intro, I've noticed that a significant number tend to skip it. This might inadvertently impact how TH-cam perceives the video's engagement. I hope you understand, and I genuinely appreciate your continued support.

Really? People are skipping it? Who are these people! It’s great and unique but do what you feel is best we don’t come here for the intro it’s your content and it’s great I’ve been watching for years, the only thing I can think of regarding the into is when you watch a marathon of things the same sound can annoy some people it happens to me(never with your intro though!) but you keep hearing it and it annoys you so you skip it, maybe this has something to do with the skipped intro? Anyways keep up the good work bro!

I’m just one person but I skip it because the music is very bass heavy and loud at one particular point. If it were to be remixed (normalized, EQ’d and run through a compressor, or maybe a band-pass filter) it might keep its character without being so jarring.

I skip all intros I’ve already seen. I’ll watch anything once, but there are very few things I will watch twice. Nothing personal. If it’s better for you and better for me, I call that a win-win.

to be fair, for the period even if they did upgrade them it would be marginal gains as the material science then wasn't as advance as it is now. With recent breakthroughs in developing circuit boards made with materials that can withstand the pressure and heat that would be experienced on Venus. Also consider it might haven been cheaper to just build something that could last about an hour and have the next probe be ready to launch when the other one dies, as getting to Venus is considerably easier to get to than Mars.

I couldn’t erase/format my files, at the time I was employed by a mortgage company and didn’t want any clients information to be able to be used by thieves. Whether it be "Flying saucers" or "Dyson Spheres" what exactly about the idea is "extraordinary"? That we are not alone in the Universe? why would that be extraordinary? That if others exist they are more technologically advanced than we are?
To me the idea that there can't be a Dyson Sphere or that we can't be visited by others is the extraordinary claim. Because to be true then either humans are alone in the Galaxy *or* humans are the most technologically advanced race in the Galaxy. Both of these are indeed extraordinary.

I do enjoy Dark 5. At least it doesn't seem AI driven and it seems to find some unusual stuff.
Life out there ... that's a reach. The claims on life on other planets are great - but people seem to forget that life requires more than just a barren planet. Even the most remote places on Earth that have multicellular life don't exist in isolation. All but the simplest forms of life can "eat" sun only requiring CO2 and water to function. A scorpion (or similar) is WAY further up the food chain...

An impact. Happens all the time.
Low gravity, no atmosphere, no wind, more or less 90° angle of approach. Debris sent high by the high speed impact eventually feeling the effect of the low gravity and falling back in the windless vacuum to make a trumpet shaped top.
What would be wierd is if we never saw anything like this.

The variable nature of Tabby's Star along with countless others including our own sun can be explained so very easily with THE most abundant an obvious force in all the cosmos, and explained in such a way that a 5 year old will immediately understand it. The answer is of course that force which controls, shapes, and connects the universe. In star-wars lingo..."it binds the galaxy together", along with most probably everything else in the cosmos . That force.......is Electromagnetism.

Pertaining to the lost tapes. It is unlikely that NASA would have erased those recordings to use the media for any archival purpose. The antiquated format would be of no archival use. Any recordings would be preserved on a more robust and future proof format available at the time the archiving was taking place (years after the original recordings were made). They were either accidentally lost, or erased/destroyed on purpose. Having worked with electronically recorded media my whole life, I would guess they were accidentally misplaced or mislabeled. Probably sitting in storage somewhere, or in a landfill.

I don't know enough about the mechanics of Lunar gravity, but I have an idea about the flashes. if someone with extensive moon knowledge could reply, I'd be very happy.
I wonder if the flashing that lasts a minute or two or up to 20 minutes could be small meteoroids smacking into the surface and kicking up a 5-10 mile wide plume of lunar dust, causing the sunlight to refelct off of the fine particles, which could also contain volcanic glasses. This would look like a flash, and maybe after 20 minutes or so the plume is so dispersed that it doesn't reflect enough in one area, and it fades out?

We have such a bias in our hypotheses of what other alien civilizations might be like. We assume they would evolve in the same manner we do and therefore would mimic our own evolutionary story. Perhaps a type two civilization has no need to generate energy. Perhaps they can harness energy through their power of thought. We can only theorize based on what we know. We know very little.

6:40 If this explanation was plausible then it should be easily tested, since the moon is always exposed to the sun and is always facing the Earth in same way, then the same craters should be exposed to sunlight at the same times each night. It may very in minor ways throughout the year but the pattern should be very consistent. If it's not then this isn't the explanation.
