when i watched this battle with the DVD music, i thought physicx took it for sure, but the original music definately shows that lilou won. but phyiscx is still one of my fav bboys

for real. I'm surprised he got so many votes actually. Physicx didn't look at all prepared or focused like he usually is. Lilou was solid on rhythm alone not to mention his perfect mannerism.

Lilou, like, took the music, hung it, cut its limbs off, covered the open wounds in lemon juice, and baked it. And by his moves, he enjoyed it all very much.
the art of bboying comes off of interpreting the music with your dance, so no they're not told what songs will be played beforehand. but these guys are world-class bboys so they've been to hundreds of jams and heard these familiar songs, which is why they can kill the beat to them, because they've committed them to memory
Finally somebody that TRUELY UNDERSTANDS! I'm tired of hearing cats saying "styleheads" or "powerheads" cuz it really isn't like that.
And i heard rock steady crew went to korea and opened a workshop or some shit like that. I forgot i could be wrong. Thats why they started doing more footwork. It's pretty tight. Their power is tight, and now, their footwork is dope as well.

It's pretty obvious that some kind of workshop was put together because when you look at Bruse Lee's and The End's toprock and footwork, it's almost identical and they use the same steps pretty much every time. They still aren't really feeling the beat like Lilou was here, they're just doing what was taught to them.
Right here lilou was so in beat n deserved the win! He was a true bboy! If you guys watch lilou vs physicx, not at red bull, but in another competition, ull see a different more to the beat physicx n he won the battle! So they both had thier days :) 2 of the greatest ever! bboy forever!

Truthfully this match will show who the people who know the meaning of dancing and those who just like to see people spin really fast
Physicx should have won IMO. His tricks were more complicated and they were all executed without crashing. Lilou on the other hand was more musical I admit - he should won IMO if he didn't crash. However he crashed multiple times whereas Physicx was clean. If I was a judge, I'd have gone for Physicx. Props though for both dancers

Lilou's musicality was ridiculous in this battle.
That's actually one of Lilou's trademark moves. He usually gets a better angle, but he DOES bounce off his head! That's part of the move. That ow was someone from the crowd.
Lilou had a unique style, how he rides the beat was unlike anyone else, and he entertains the people more than others. That alone on a good day can beat, arguably, the best breakdancer in the world.

Korean bboys, yeah..they are very dominant with power moves...but thats it. its not only about power. its about originality and how you match up with the music with your set. I agree with you all the way, Lilou won hands down.
Yeah, that was my point since people were bashing physicx generally, without mentioning how much better he got with staying on beat.
Actually breakdance got it's name from b-boy. B-boys are called that because they dance to the break, the break part of the song and that's why it's called "break"dance.

It doesn't really matter what the audience think though, they can have their opinion, what its all about what the judges think.
because this battle is so epic its like one of the few battles that has pure flava/style vs pure power/blowup
who ever says physicx, or thinks he did, doesn't know the true meaning of breaking, even dancing because u need to go with the music that's what makes it that much better than just doing power moves or some other fancy moves, you have to entertain make people say wow and sometimes laugh. Going with the music is really important, doesn't matter if your breaking or popping or tutting etc. its always better when you hit the beat/go with the music.
It's not just about hitting the beat, Physicx was showing off cool moves, but there's no denying that Lilou felt the music way more. Powermoves aside it's almost as if Lilou's moves were a physical manifestation of the beat. That's part of the "dance"
I'm a huge physicx fan, but lilou won because he hit the beats 100000x better than physicx, but if you see physicx nowadays, he incorporates his own style with his power. Physicx is more well-rounded nowadays so i think a rematch is needed =)

I mean lilou has his own moves, own style, nice toprock and he is a BEAT KILLER.
Physics has only his powermoves and he never killed the Beat, so for me was the decision clearer than clear......
The only reason physicx lost was cuz he was he was saving up some moves for hong10's battle, but physicx realized that he was getting outmoved by lilou so he tried to fit in some of his amazing moves at the end, but it was too late
I ain't gonna deny it. Physicx is dope. his elbow spins are nasty. Physicx and Hong 10 are undefeatable duo. But as far as this battle goes, Lilou took it. Lilou was never behind in any sets.

they improvise, lilou said in interview physicx had better moves but moulin rouge was lilou's favorite music so he try'd to win on musicality.
Dancing on beat although a huge factor wasn't even the reason lilou won. He also presented a samba style in his dancing which was appropriate for the song. Physicx did do some good footwork too but everything lilou did trumped physicx because of the song played.
For pete's sake guys lilou only won by one vote so it was still a close battle. And Physicx's first set did hit the beat pretty well with his power moves.
Dude, if you didn't realize, he murdered the beat with that 2k, even though his landing was crappy but he killed it.
3) Lilou was dragging the match with nothing but his toprock. Some would say that he dragged the match so they'd time out, but that's personal opinion. What I think is that the 3 minute rule is rather unfair to whoever starts second considering the way Physicx's last set was interrupted.
For those who says Physicx lacks style, I suggest you watch any BC One match Cico does. That's being a powerhead. I would go as far as to say that Physicx is Roxrite dancing upside down. Style in another form.
Another minute aspect of judging is the use of big signature moves, in regards to saving them for later rounds. Lilou murdered the beats and Physicx had to drop a lot of bombs like his elbow spins and some other of his moves that probably would be better more sparsely spread throughout the competition.

Lilou absolutely destroys this beat. Physicx could have hit more footwork, but Lilou hit everything and got blow-ups on every run just from footwork and tops. he killed it.

I think the judges made the good vote,not coz im french but coz lilou really deserved to win this battle,he knew that physicx was better than him in tricks so he decided to hit the beat and he did it magnificently,for the mistake at 1.26,he did it just like that to kill the beat,i think it shows that he's a complete bboy,and for the fall at 1.51 its his move,he expected that,n i dont know wen u c physicx dancing to the beat but the power is nothing without musicality,so respect for both of them

Guys, guys. Let's just say that both of them were great, it's just that the judges favored Lilou's style more. Physicx is also an awesome bboy, so you should give some props to him too!
The thing is that, Lilou hit the beats a lot more better then Physicx, but if Physicx used his powermoves at the right time at songs... He might of won.

Physicx wasnt at his best here, but in my opinion this battle was the best I've ever seen from Lilou. So obviously no one battle can prove once and for all who is better but Lilou took this one no doubt.
its always improvised. however, bboys may know of the song from listening to it somewhere else like at practise, in that case, they may recognize the song and know how to use that to their advantage, like killing a beat. Although, bboys do not know what songs are going to be played so they must be ready to adapt their style with the music the DJ decides to play.
Two worst comments I read for this video are:

What's interesting that in an interview for Red Bull BC One 2008.....Lilou admits that he was knew he had to ride the beat hard if he wanted to have any chance against Physicx.
He also stated that this song is one of his favorite tracks to BBoy too lol. Very, very lucky if you ask me. He probably would've lost if this song hadn't come on.
Lilou's first set raped the beat. Honestly, I can say that i have never seen any bboy make the crowd go wild while just toprocking like lilou did and its amazing. Honestly, physicx at the time had good musicality but lilou knew how to bring every beat out with perfection
Lilou played with the beat, followed and even did some popping to the beat while demonstrating footwork ability as well as tricks. It felt like Lilou was actually dancing whereas Physicx did tricks to the beat.
hmmmm....listen to the original music again, louder, and watch Lilou match to the beats perfectly throughout his set..maybe you will change your mind.
this wasn't physicx's song, that's the only reason why lilou won. for me, physicx is the best bboy, he can do everything, has the style (now anyway), can hit beats and has heeeeaaaaps of power.

Breakdance is the commercial stuff. Windmills, headspins, all that cool-looking stuff. B-boy has that stuff, but it's not so focused on it as breakdance.
Two different styles. Lilou's top rock is top notch while Physicx has great power moves. But in the end, its a dancing a competition and Lilou killed it.

You have to adjust on the spot. But they know many of the beats and songs so if they recognize it, they use it to their advantage. Lilou has always been good with beats & rhythms.
In battles it is important to show that we know how to dance , to show you feel the beat in your body , up rock and top rock it's very important!

its one of those things where when u brake for a while, after like 20 secs of the song u find the pattern...and sometimes they heard the songs before(not right before...they dont practice the sets) so they already know the beat.
hong 10, born, rhythm gate to name a few that do style over power. koreans are known to be the best bboys in the world, so to say none of them have style is very ignorant. also, u have to look at what the competition is, and what the judges are looking for, sometimes they're looking for style, and other times they're looking for wow factors, which is where physicx really shines, but hes getting really good at style now anyway.
Well it was close. With Lilou crashing a few times bringing down the quality of his sets, he had nasty musicality. Physicx had some musicality too, but not to the extent of Lilou, and Physicx also had the difficulty factor in his sets. Thus, if you watch the video until the end you can see that it was a 3-2 vote. It was close.
You may not like lilou's style, but that is one true bboy. Just the way he moves and hits the bits, it's crazy. Physicx, at least in 2005, was still more of a trick artist. I notice he and other Korean power heads are finally now starting to respect the foundation aspects of bboying. The only problem is it usually works the other way -- You find your soul in bboying first. We'll see if they can become TRUE and complete bboys

You may not be able to find them til someone uploads them. The camera went bad on the hong 10 machine match, only 1 minute of the hong 10 vs pel match has been uploaded. I have't found anything from the other vids.

I'm not a breakdancer, but taking it into account what other people on this vid has commented thus far, I can say that if following the rhythm and beat in dancing is the winning factor, then my hand goes to Lilou because you can clearly see he was following the flow more than Physicx. But if this was a 'powermove' contest, Physicx would win, now would you guys stop fighting over something stupid?
well the reason is because they don't own the rights to the actual music, and actually buying those rights with all of the music they used in the competition would cost them a lot of money.
Close battle. I understand why ppl think physicx won. Clean dope moves and also killed the beat just like lilou. Problem is, he wasn't as well rounded as lilou. Lilou had dope foot works and freezes and most importantly, got good crowd responses with top rock... WITH TOP ROCK! that's pretty hard. You gotta not only hit the beat to do that but have some ill flavor with it and hit the beat HARD. That gave him the upper hand. Not to say using power to impress is easy, its just more predictable.
