Interestingly enough, Ren doesn’t really abide by religious values. He’s just fascinated by their iconography and influence. He’s said himself that he’s more agnostic than anything.
@@161cjl As I understand it, during the worst of Ren’s misdiagnosed illness, he tried turning to many different religious disciplines hoping for help since medicine wasn’t working.
Yes he is now agnostic. The Lyme disease made him explore religions. But because he studied so many religions,he uses religious iconography in his music.
Ren can literally do it all! He can RAP rap, he can sing, amazing musician, lyricist, makes all his own beats, hell he even beat boxes! LOL Ren in one word is an ARTIST!
Can yall believe that REN played the guitar and sang this live all in one take for this video? NOTHING recorded all in one take......its absolutely insane

@@doodleBurgers, did I understand you correctly? Saying he can’t rap, sing or write good lyrics? Luckily out of the 150 times I’ve watched reviews and the originally video. Welcome to the RENaissance! Ren is an incredible rapper, but he's also an amazing singer! His storytelling is also next level. Check out THE TALES OF JENNY AND SCREECH (FULL), Genesis, The Hunger, The Illest of our Time, Sick Boi, and his duets with Chinchilla HOW TO BE ME (LIVE), and CHALK OUTLINES (LIVE) are also incredible!
If you're looking for him to bring different themes and creativity to every song you've found the right guy! Every song is a new look with unique musical elements so you won't get bored.
Ren is one of the greatest storytellers. It's not just his musical ability, it's the way he pulls you in. Every song he does is a trip to another place. Tale of Jenny and Screech, is amazing.
Bro, you have no idea how RIGHT you are when you talked about a HUGE range of emotions through his discography. This man is what I would call a Modern Day Bard! He hits all genres with a story and feeling behind every song. Extremely talented and knowing how to make you think about feel something more than just bopping your head. I would love you to check out the 3 part song compilation, "The Story of Jenny and Screech" All three songs only take about 12 mins, but the story telling is amazing. You will NOT be disappointed.
I thought about recommending that one. Thought that maybe a primer would be good. Like Sick Boi or The Hunger. Either way it's gonna be fun. Liked him, I was impressed.
Ren is perhaps the most multifaceted, prodigiously talented musician I've ever come across... I love him ... and the people he collaborates with : they are all Fire ! Chinchilla , Sam Tomkins, Romain Axisa, The big Push as a whole , Eden Nash .... Editing : I forgot his friend Sam on the camera, filming his performaces in such a beautiful, clever way ! props to him too .
That's the one I was thinking of when he was like he needs something that covers different experiences in life that with Chalk Outlines and How to Be Me(loss of a loved one) those two are duets and their songs more than raps... I really think you'll like him with chinchilla and although the videos are cool the live version of the two together ❤️🔥 What You Want and Power in that order cuz I think those to go... They have a real throwback feel
Damn! Been waiting on this Scru! He uses the Christian markers and terminology in not a religious way but to help convey the battle that cant be won. Dark and light, its almost out of his hands with regards to wining. Its a metaphor for his own battle with his health. Misdiagnosed for having lymes disease and journey with wrong medications. Love you bro
The only genre he doesn't do is military marches--but I'll bet you anything that tomorrow I'll stumble across a Ren military march deep in his catalogue...
Dude, welcome to the Ren train! I just got on at the 'one month ago' station. Awesome reaction as always! You are totally right to hope that Ren has more songs that take your through multiple experiences, because he totally does. 'Hi Ren' has theatrical play vibes, but if you want to see him REALLY rap, listen to 'The Hunger', 'Animal Flow', 'Illest of our time' and 'Losing It (Fisher Retake)', 'Money Game pt.1' and 'Money Game pt.2', just to name a few. For an even more theatrical experience, watch his trilogy "The Tale of Jenny & Screech". It's a set of three songs that all tell a story (they should be watched in one video to make the most out of it). To get some goosebumps and better see his vocal range, listen to 'Chalk Outlines'. 'Hi Ren' is a bit of a weird song to discover Ren through, because if you don't watch more of his music, you might think that he only does this kind of stuff, but he basically does it all. He writes his own songs, he makes his own beats and he produces the final music by himself. This alone got me hooked on his music. When you take into account that a lot of his songs are done live and the videos are filmed in one take, it really makes you look at Ren as a wildly talented artist...which he is. Really hope to see more Ren reactions from you! Take care!
Hey! I totally agree with you that he should listen to all of those songs! I understand that making videos take alot of time, if he is gonna make first reactions I would suggest the most important one "Ren - The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)" then "Ren X Chinchilla - Chalk Outlines (live)", "Illest of our time", "The Hunger", "Losing It (Fisher retake)", "Ren - Humble ft Eden Nas), "The Big Push I shot the sheriff/Road to Zion/hip hop" and his busking (street performance) with Sam Tompkins. Who knows, maybe I introduced you to some new songs aswell :) Take care and listen to Ren!
This is like seeing Vincent Van Gogh, the musician. Sounds like a sequel. "And this time he's pissed!" I hope Ren never feels unappreciated, in the way Vincent did. We need Ren to help bring mental health into a more understanding conversation.
Ren's a wildcard man, here's some good stuff by him Rap: The Hunger, Animal Flow, Illest of our time Singing like he's better than us: Chalk Outlines ft CHINCHILLA (Live), How to be me ft CHINCHILLA (Live) A trilogy Bardcore Rap/song story that immerses you with the performance: The Tale of Jenny & Screech He's got other good songs out there including some street performances with a band he was in called The Big Push but I'm telling you you'll probably fall down the Ren rabbit hole like a bunch of other people, and it isn't bad LMAO Good Reaction tho Scru Love u
this is a good starter list but songs like Genesis, Humble, Dominoes, ready for you, Everybody drops, heretic, Ocean, love music 1-3, fire, run away, hold on, insomniac, diazepam, power, penitence, pocket full of pain, money game 1-3, crutch, crucify your culture, dear god, its alright are next TIER god level songs
@@ikingipapa You got that right! After 3 months down this rabbit hole I gave up on trying to pick my favorite song and started struggling to pick my top ten favorites.
I tripped over 2 cats & kicked a foot stool running to this vid! I had to hear ur thoughts on Ren & I appreciate ur honest opinion & u didn't disappoint. If u decide to go on the journey of Ren you'll see he's not one thing or one way. Every song is totally diff & idk if he has a genre... his style is very new to me. I respect it & i really enjoy it. I will b eagerly waiting to see if u dive more into his discography & if so I can't wait for u to get to Illest of Our Time. Ty Scru!❤️🔥
Love the honest reaction! Ren rapping- Losing it The Hunger Animal Flow Genesis Ren singing- Chalk outlines (really anything with Chinchilla) Busking videos (street performance) Ren storytelling- Jenny/Screech/Violets tale **There's a lot more**
5:38 you hit the nail on the head. This once in a generation artist does it all 🤯 He's got bars for days, flow switches that give you concussion, deeply emotional lyrics, fun songs and political ones too. You have just stumbled head first into the biggest rabbit hole I have come across in my life. Buckle up, enjoy the ride and remember to bring snacks cos this is gonna take a while 🐰🕳️
That was a great, authentic reaction. Ren can rap with the best of them, and his songs are all over the place, all of them worth checking out. I recommend "The Hunger", "Power", "Losing It", "Genesis", and "Love Music Part 3" if you want to see more of his rapping.
@@boya6069 definitely 100% listen to this comment… such great story telling!! and the fact it’s all filmed in one take out in the streets live, sooo good!
Some background on Ren. He became seriously ill in 2010, just after he had been signed by Sony records. He was half way through the album but was so ill he couldn't carry on. His illness was undiagnosed/misdiagnosed for 6 or 7 years, leaving him stuck in bed for up to 23 hours a day. In 2016 he was correctly diagnosed with Lyme Disease and he had a couple of stem cell transplants which greatly improved his health. But because of the years of incorrect treatment he has been left with a badly damaged immune system and some brain damage. He is currently getting specialist medical treatment in Canada which will likely take at least 6 months
So sad. Left with brain damage.. and yet he's still a musical genius. Imagine his life without the medical issues. Where he could have been. I'm so happy he's seeing success.
Ren is a monstar (a monster and star put together)...the tale of jenny and screech (full version) is epic..his story telling is top notch...he calls his style "bardcore" like an old timey bard telling stories and stuff
I found Ren like a week or so ago and I was instantly enthralled by him. Everything he does from the videos, the voice, the lyrics and everything inbetween in nothing short of genius. He is a visionary. HIGHLY recommend the Tale of Jenny and Screech (full) Its 3 songs all one after the other but its worth the watch, you will be blown away 100% Scru.
This track and its video are 🔥 LOVE IT! Ren truly is a lyrical alchemist and produces all of his own beats. Check out The Hunger for straight-up technical expertise, Losing It for some fun flows and rhymes, Genesis, Money Game Pt. 1 & 2, and/or Sick Boi for their message, Chalk Outlines and How To Be Me (both live and featuring Chinchilla) for beautiful vocals, and the Jenny and Screech Trilogy for his pure, evocative storytelling ability. This man is a musical and artistic genius! He doesn't do mediocre, period.
Ren has been battling with mental and physical illness for the better part of a decade and most of the music he's released lately is discussing in a very interpretive way. Not even just the lyrics, but the video production, etc too. If you want more lyrical stuff from him, you should check out some more of his older songs or if you want recent stuff, illest of our time / sick boi is better.
Ren is absolutely an artist through and through, not just a musician. When you dive into his music he's brilliant. If you want to hear his range you definitely need to check out the full trilogy The tale of Jenny and Screech and I shot the Sheriff with his band The Big Push.
This is the kind of artistry that gives "broken" people hope. Ren, through this performance piece, has become to a lot of people exactly what he stated in the song, "...the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope". So powerful, so impactful. The song structure itself is incredible. It starts off as a battle between his positive (Angel) and negative (Demon) aspects, the negative then makes an overpowering last ditch effort to reign supreme, tearing free and trying to take control, but ultimately fails as the final act, being the "God" aspect, emerges Triumphant, though still acknowledging and accepting that it will ALWAYS be a battle because we are all "a coin with 2 different sides". It's a beautifully cathartic and raw musical masterpiece. Ren is truly special. Welcome to the Ren rabbit-hole, it's a trip worth taking. This was the 4th take he did and yes, it was done live. Wait until you hear some of his other stuff, especially his storytelling ("The Tale of Jenny & Screech"). You haven't even touched the breadth of this young man's talent yet. The pig character (imo) represents the doctors and therapist who have essentially butchered him for years through their misdiagnosis. It's the system that focuses on peddling more pills than on genuinely trying to help to fix broken/ill people, caring more about profit than individual health. The bastardization of the hippocratic oath. He literally thought he was going insane because he was told repeatedly that the pain and symptoms he was experiencing were all in his head (psychosomatic). He had reached a point where he literally resigned himself to dying before he reached 30. Turns out he had Lyme's disease the whole time and it ran rampant through his system for 10 years, even to the point of causing brain damage. Ironically, if Ren hadn't gone through what he has, would he have ever made the art he has? There's no question that his suffering has shaped his music and now he's finally getting the recognition he undoubtedly deserves. I've said it before, I'll say it again, Ren is special.
Ren has many themes & many musical genres. The pig at the beginning appears in a lot of his videos. He's referencing the cult classic book , Animal Farm by George Orwell. In the book, animals take over the farm from the abusive farmer. The pigs then take over & abuse their power too. They write a manifesto on the wall , the most memorable line being "Some animals are more equal than others".
PLEASE check out his other songs and his backstory! This song is amazing, but wait till you see him REALLY RAP!!! - "Illest of our Time" and "The Hunger" are great examples! (Also, this song was single take live)
Scru been wait’n for ya to see Ren. Buckle up and enjoy the ride, I’ll be here for it all cause I respect your opinion as a dope rapper yourself. He makes his beats, beat boxes, produces, raps, sings, and he is a genuine dude that will comment on your channel. He is also in a band called THE BIG PUSH. I recommend you check out their cover of I shot the sheriff/ road to Zion / hip hop. Thanks for recognizing his talent, he deserves it. Peace out.
I have followed Ren for many years. He has a huge catalogue and it covers many different genre's and styles, I am sure you would find it all unique. Love your reaction when you smiled I new you were hooked. Enjoy the journey
You are 100% correct, he does it all. There's not one song I could tell you was just one genre. He sing sings, he does storyteller songs, he does mega bar Raps, old school hip hop. He is a musical genius and I don't throw that out lightly
Here is some additional information on Ren's story that I gathered from old newspaper interviews, articles, and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. Ren Erin Gill is a British musician/independent artist; born in Wales on March 29, 1990; he eventually moved to Brighton. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, Ren began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently his contract with Sony was dissolved. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis and develop PTSD. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is currently in Calgary, Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023) undergoing IV and other interventions five days a week. Ren recently underwent wisdom tooth removal and cavitation surgery. In addition, his Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals as well as his bones/joints. Now, Ren is receiving additional treatments for this previously undiagnosed condition. Let's keep supporting Ren as he undergoes his treatments. Check out and subscribe to his channel, if you are a content creator, ask your audience to subscribe to Ren. Listen to some of his earlier work, like and comment on his performances, and let's lift Ren's spirits. If you are a believer, pray for him. Ren is an artist with something to say to the world, and his work is important in these troubling times. Someone has finally created a Wikipedia page for Ren, so there is additional information available. Here is the link to Ren’s GoFundMe page to raise money for his current treatment. Ren has exceeded his initial goal. However, his goal was very conservative and did not reflect the added costs of unforeseen surgical procedures, and treatment for additional health issues such as MCAD. www.gofundme.com/f/ren-get-better-from-lyme-disease-and-autoimmunity
Lady from the UK. Its a revelation. Check out his live performance of Animal Flow Thursday, its acoustic. Animal Flow is based on anti authoritarian novel by George Orwell, Animal Farm. There is another performance of the same track which is full on and is loved already by many. Hi Ren is indeed personal, about suffering from a illness brought on by Lyme's disease and the struggle to get well. Which is devasting to the body and mind if not treated early. It was not all in his mind. He's turned it around and came out with this. So adversity brings artistery. But ultimately its about rising up and not letting it crush you. Best wishes
Scru! Finally on the Ren train... You're in for a treat and I'll watch every single reaction. I bet within 1 month, your playlists will be loaded up with Ren's catalogue.
If you want to hear his ‘Tech9’ ability to rap:“Hunger” Storytelling: “Tale of Jenny & Screech” Singing voice: Chalk Outlines (live) Creative/Directive genius: Animal Flow
He really isn't "preaching" anything, he doesn't push any beliefs of that sort out there, just speaks from his experiences and his trials & tribulations. After he was misdiagnosed for all those years he is finally getting the right medical treatment for the Lyme disease he has. All of his music is different, there's not just 1 that is like the next and I love that!
What's gonna blow your mind is that every Ren joint you listen to is going to be completely different than the other Ren joints. This guy is a cheat code. He's a true artist who can do it all.
Ren is an all round lyrical genius and nice guy to boot. I've subscribed as loved your reaction and can't wait to see how to take to more of his genres and collabs. The Tale of Jenny n Screech is a must, as is The Hunger and Crutch
Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed Hi Ren, has clarified that while audio was recorded as a live session, the final video is not a one-take. In the comments of Jonathan Hiller's reaction to the song.
This song is very relatable. Everyone can take away something from this. You shared what you took away from this. I do kind of think you missed that Ren was sharing his struggle with his several serious health issues, especially his mental illness. The psychosis he mentions at the end. There was some humor in this which you spotted, but it was his dark inner demon mocking him that was funny. Dark Ren was telling him that he is not great, not original, this song has been done before. The dark Ren everyone has in them to some extent. It is that part of you that forces you too doubt yourself, tells you you are not good enough, to quit trying because you are never going to succeed. The line "Some people know me as the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose one the rope" references when he decided to step back from suicide. This topic has been dealt with before, but not like this. That's why this has been viewed nearly 13 million times in 5 months since it was released. Plus this was shot in one take, whic 3 cameras.
Oh my gosh holy crap! I'm so excited that you're checking out Ren! You are going to freaking love his content because this boy can spit bars! Prepare to see him on your channel because he is big on responding to reactors and giving love back
Fisher rap retake, money game 1 & 2, tale of Jenny and screech full, illest of our time, genesis, chalk outlines… dude goes through so many styles and is so incredibly talented. Also does many of his songs live in a one take.
Ren is the epitome of versatility. Period! You should do humble next for a feel good island vibe singing song or life is funny or hunger for top tier rapping. Or I shot the sheriff, road to zion and hip hop mash up. Either way there's over 12 years of pure top tier music and homage.
For what it's worth, he's not a Christian rapper... at all. He uses religious references at times as he does many other references, as metaphors, analogies, etc.
he can rap, sing, play instruments, beat box, tell stories god tripped and threw the whole bucket of talent over him 😅 any way your late to the ren party! 😂🎉
YOU'RE FINALLY ON THIS!!! you gotta watch so much of his shit. The hunger, Losing it (fisher retake), animal flow, illest of of our time, tale of jenny and screech. SO MUCH CONTENT!! Really hope you get deep into the ren rabbit hole
Excellent reaction. Welcone to Ren, subbed in anticipation of more Ren, Chinchilla,Big Push and Sam Tompkins....you'll be here forever now😂 I also recommend reading his community page. Ren is extremely humble, loves reactors, will always clear a copyright strike, and has a huge loyal fan base
You're gonna love Ren's journey. I'm gonna love watch it happen. All relevant clues have probably been said already. Liked and subbed. Big love from Spain
Hopefully you will watch some more of Ren. He is one of the most real and genuine artists that I have seen for a long long time, and extremely talented.
Didnt he originally have backing from a major label, and he got sick I think.. and they just dropped him.. I could be wrong, but I thought someone explained that in some comment some where else. Ill have to find out myself.. but if he did have someone backing him, and they dropped him, they lost out big time. I hope he just stays independent , because he doesnt need anyone to prop him up. Not to mention, think of how many greedy money pincers come into the scene to take away money from him.
This reaction made me realise how defensive over Ren I've become in the last few months! I hope you take the time to discover more. Tales of Jenny and Screech full version, The Hunger, Power, Losing it, What you Want, Money Game 1&2, Sick Boi, Chalk Outlines the list of bangers is endless!
I'm a huge Ren fan, please please please do a reaction to Hunger, mind blowing, 7 or more cadence switches and wordsmithing impeccable! You will see what all the hype is. After that maybe Genesis or Chalk Outlines. Also has amazing cover of I shot the sheriff is band The Big Push! Welcome to the Ren Musical Revolution! He is so creative, unique, talented and a great humble person as well. Went undiagnosed with Lyme disease for 7 yrs and suffered greatly. You will see a lot of references to this in his music
Hi Ren falls under the UK Genre "Bardcore" As mentioned many times already, Ren can Rap Rap/Sing/write/produce/play/busk/Live (this was a one take live performance) I highly recommend •Sick boi (sequel to hi ren) •The tales of Jenny/Screech/Violet ~ full video (For more Bardcore) •The Hunger and Losing it ( for Rens RAPRAP) •Genesis For Rens vocal ability... •Humble feat. Eden Nash •Chalk outlines feat Chinchilla •How to be me feat. Chinchilla •money game part 1 and 2 Last but not least Rens band The big push live busking jams
Your comments on creativity made me want to hear more of your thoughts. Liked and subscribed. Huge Ren fan here. Hope you cover more of him. He's actually not a Christian, he's agnostic. He sometimes uses Christian themes or imagery because of a familiarity with it.
Always fascinating to watch a new reactor’s take on Hi Ren and then take the journey into his wonderland. Look forward to you following the rabbit. It’s a deep eclectic dive
This whole song is the most beautiful multifaceted allusion that never strays from its message that I am still capable of comprehending and to be able to keep that up over the course of 7 minutes takes an artistic genius.
Oh you're about to go down the rabbit hole! Everything Ren does is a banger. You should listen to The Tale of Jenny and Screech (Full), The Hunger, Money Game, Losing It, honestly his whole catalogue is amazing.
Genesis is one of his dopest songs in my opinion. Ren is an insane artist with a wide variety of story telling and talent to his voice and rap skills not to mention is writing
Nobody's music is more varied than Ren's! I hope you've gone down the Ren rabbit hole, the guy is a true artist. He's even an artist when he's busking covers in the street. It was fun watching your journey through this music video!
AT LAST!!!! My favourite reactor reacting to literally the most incredible artist out there right now. Screw, you have no idea what you are about to experience. Next watch The Tale of Jenny & Screetch (Full), then Money Game Part 1 & 2, then The Hunger, then Chalk Outlines, then Losing It, then Genesis, then Power, then Sick Boi, then Animal Flow, then Illest of Our Time, then What You Want.... I could go on. Screw... this guy is a freakin' genius, covering so many genres. He will make you laugh, smile, cry and think deeply about things. You are about to experience something quite special!!! THANK YOU FOR FINALLY WATCHING REN! Peace & Love Bro
I'm 52 and while not a professional musician myself, I was in a number of bands in high school and college and then a sound engineer for time, I can say this with 100% honesty and as much truth as I possibly can, that I have NEVER EVER witnessed an artist so difficult to place in any sort of genre or box, this man's ability seems limitless when it comes to genre, creativity, vocal ability, acting, his ability not just to spit lyrics, but his knowledge of inner rhyme schemes, cadence, flow, and the English language in general is absolutely mind blowing. Make no mistake about it, there will be a point when you're reacting to your 3rd or 4th Ren video, and you're on about the 2nd or 3rd genre or talent he's capable of, as an artist yourself, will be like "Damn, is there anything this motherfucker can't do!! Come on Ren, you can't do everything, leave the rest of some scraps dog"!! Oh and I won't spoil it, but when folks says he can Rap Rap, believe them, Not his two latest hits he just released, they are bangers, but no where near his full capability, I'm not saying better than, but I am saying he could go toe to toe with any rapper out today, including the recognized GOATS of the game.
Oh also, about your feelings on religious rap, or music in general, I completely agree and thought your example/analogy was hilarious and accurate. Ren is not a that, trust me. While being raised in family that were Christians, they weren't heavy into or huge church goers. He's admitted in interviews that it was important to him that this songs message of mental health reached as many people as possible, so that why he kept things about religion ambiguous, like the fact that he added an "S" to "gods" during his spoken word, he wanted to keep things open to a point, so people could draw from the song what related to or spoke to them the most. Great overall reaction man, you really nailed it!!!!!!!
Great genuine reaction, I can't recommend Ren enough, all of his stuff is an experience, some fun, some sad, but it's all from the ❤ , see his street performance of ' I shot the sheriff '
Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole. You won’t regret it. For more rap from Ren you need to listen to ‘the hunger’ ‘sick boi’ illest of our time’ ‘genesis’ ‘power’ ‘animal flow’ and ‘losing it’. He does more than just rap but you have plenty of time for that….You don’t want to blow your mind all in one go.😊
Hey, not sure if I'm too late for you to see this but, one thing super unique about Ren is he does one take videos. He has a lapel mic and is hooked into an amp that's strapped to his back. This video has 4 different camera angles because they did four straight through takes and used ONE of the performances for the audio. Some of his stuff like "Animal Flow" or "The Tale of Benny and Screech" are pure one shot takes. Ren is like a modern bard, a performance artist and street busker that also can spit bars and punk out. This song in particular, and "Sick Boi" are about his fight with Lyme disease that was misdiagnosed for 8 ish years. Untreated Lyme disease causes psychosis, chronic fatigue, pain, etc. So yeah, this was a battle with himself, much like NF does in "Hope" etc. But yeah I hope you check more of his shit out. He's really talented.
He's not a Christian. He doesn't follow any religion. The meaning is deeper. Wait til you see more of REN. He is a once in a generation artist
What meaning could be deeper in fairness
Interestingly enough, Ren doesn’t really abide by religious values. He’s just fascinated by their iconography and influence. He’s said himself that he’s more agnostic than anything.
wait i thought he was christian because of the lyrics, good then

@@GB_slacker ah, thats interesting. alright!
@@GB_slackerI heard the same. Exorcisms, confession and other religious practices

This! The tale of Jenny and screech (and violet) is a must watch! All three in one sitting, gets the best experience
Cried when I heard the plot twist ngl 💀
I thought about recommending that one.
Thought that maybe a primer would be good.
Like Sick Boi or The Hunger.
Either way it's gonna be fun.
Liked him, I was impressed.
@@dawnpatterson8708 Scru would have a field day with "The hunger"! Good pick. Ren is really showcasing his rap skills in that.
Some reggae with I Shot the Sheriff, or soul with It’s a Man’s World. His rabbit hole is deep.
The world needs your reaction to The Tale of Jenny and Screech Scru. Ren has an entire catalog of various genres
That's the one I was thinking of when he was like he needs something that covers different experiences in life that with Chalk Outlines and How to Be Me(loss of a loved one) those two are duets and their songs more than raps... I really think you'll like him with chinchilla and although the videos are cool the live version of the two together ❤️🔥
What You Want and Power in that order cuz I think those to go... They have a real throwback feel
The full version too, none of this three videos junk.
You'll love it long don't brake it up or u won't get the twists in the storys
Rock, reggae, hip hop, edm, pop, punk, folk, Ren does it all. The way he bends genres is awesome.
The only genre he doesn't do is military marches--but I'll bet you anything that tomorrow I'll stumble across a Ren military march deep in his catalogue...
@@ClearTheRubble7 i wanna see a ren metal song just for the sake of it 😂
@@seancunningham4462 his favorite band is Rage (and red hot chili peppers)... so it would probably have to have the right musicians with him
Like what songs show rock, reggae, hip hop, EDM, pop, punk, etc...I wouldn't mind a example of each, if you don't mind...😁
@@CHRIST4LYFE1777 Gander through his catalogue, none are difficult to find
It's performance art, it's not religious, it's personal, we ALL have that inner voice
"And this time he's pissed!"
I hope Ren never feels unappreciated, in the way Vincent did.
We need Ren to help bring mental health into a more understanding conversation.
Ren's a wildcard man, here's some good stuff by him
Rap: The Hunger, Animal Flow, Illest of our time
Singing like he's better than us: Chalk Outlines ft CHINCHILLA (Live), How to be me ft CHINCHILLA (Live)
A trilogy Bardcore Rap/song story that immerses you with the performance: The Tale of Jenny & Screech
He's got other good songs out there including some street performances with a band he was in called The Big Push but I'm telling you you'll probably fall down the Ren rabbit hole like a bunch of other people, and it isn't bad LMAO
Good Reaction tho Scru Love u
up this comment
could add The Big Push - I Shot The Sheriff is a good one to
This should be top comment
this is a good starter list but songs like Genesis, Humble, Dominoes, ready for you, Everybody drops, heretic, Ocean, love music 1-3, fire, run away, hold on, insomniac, diazepam, power, penitence, pocket full of pain, money game 1-3, crutch, crucify your culture, dear god, its alright are next TIER god level songs
@@ikingipapa You got that right! After 3 months down this rabbit hole I gave up on trying to pick my favorite song and started struggling to pick my top ten favorites.
I just found him 2 months ago and been on a binge ever since.
Ren rapping-
Losing it
The Hunger
Animal Flow
Genesis
Ren singing-
Chalk outlines (really anything with Chinchilla)
Busking videos (street performance)
Ren storytelling-
Jenny/Screech/Violets tale
**There's a lot more**
5:38 you hit the nail on the head. This once in a generation artist does it all 🤯 He's got bars for days, flow switches that give you concussion, deeply emotional lyrics, fun songs and political ones too. You have just stumbled head first into the biggest rabbit hole I have come across in my life. Buckle up, enjoy the ride and remember to bring snacks cos this is gonna take a while 🐰🕳️
Amen sister! Lol…
That was a great, authentic reaction. Ren can rap with the best of them, and his songs are all over the place, all of them worth checking out. I recommend "The Hunger", "Power", "Losing It", "Genesis", and "Love Music Part 3" if you want to see more of his rapping.
I would also add "life is funny"
The tale of jenny and screech, it's a trilogy dont split it into 3 videos watch all 3 at once the storytelling and skill is on another level
This comment should get a lot more likes!!! I really want Scru to react to the trilogy.
@@boya6069 definitely 100% listen to this comment… such great story telling!! and the fact it’s all filmed in one take out in the streets live, sooo good!
Much better commentary than other "reactions". I've watched about ten of these for this song and you're the only one I subbed to. Keep it up
Some background on Ren.
He was in a band called “The Big Push” and they did a blend of “Who Shot the Sheriff” and “Road to Zion”. And it was phenomenal!
Ren is a monstar (a monster and star put together)...the tale of jenny and screech (full version) is epic..his story telling is top notch...he calls his style "bardcore" like an old timey bard telling stories and stuff
2.9k likes and counting! Trust and believe, if you continue to post reactions of REN’s music,…his fans will flood you with support.
Bumpin for Jenny and Screech
Man, WTF, nice reaction brother
I've been onna Ren binge like you. Maybe a week in or maybe even less
Appreciate the excellent review - well said…down in the Ren rabbit hole always. The artistry of his talent envelopes every listener. A true original.
Peace out.
You have no idea just how many experiences his music has. Literally everything. And all of them slap
Please do more Ren! He is so talented and also his fans will gift you with views because we love watching people react to his greatness !
If you want to hear his ‘Tech9’ ability to rap:“Hunger”
Storytelling: “Tale of Jenny & Screech”
Singing voice: Chalk Outlines (live)
Creative/Directive genius: Animal Flow
I’m so glad you finally reacted to Ren!! I’ve been waiting for you to do this!! He’s my favorite artist rn!
W'hooo welcome aboard the REN train ... strap in.. its an amazing ride ....
❤ your reaction
Thank you 🤘
He really isn't "preaching" anything, he doesn't push any beliefs of that sort out there, just speaks from his experiences and his trials & tribulations. After he was misdiagnosed for all those years he is finally getting the right medical treatment for the Lyme disease he has. All of his music is different, there's not just 1 that is like the next and I love that!
FINALLY!!!!! Go down the rabbit hole Scru! Literally EVERYTHING ren has made is amazing. He is truly something else, a pure artist
Every song ist complete different. "Genisis", "the Hunger" and "illest of Our time" are my favorites
Ren is dope his brother is dope also.. and his band is crazy
This was One take and done live 👍🏼
Prepare to see him on your channel because he is big on responding to reactors and giving love back
Bro just keep watching him. You're gonna love "the hunger" when you get there. It's sick!
Fisher rap retake, money game 1 & 2, tale of Jenny and screech full, illest of our time, genesis, chalk outlines… dude goes through so many styles and is so incredibly talented. Also does many of his songs live in a one take.
I love that you're asking these questions. Enjoy the trip❤
Brilliant spot on reaction to this amazing artist, you will not believe how versatile he is for sure!
Ren is amazing artistry. He can do anything! I have never been this excited about music until I found him. Along with Chinchilla and Sleep Token!
You're gonna love Ren's journey. I'm gonna love watch it happen. All relevant clues have probably been said already.
Liked and subbed.
Big love from Spain
Fuck yes! Ren is dope as shit and only gettin better! I’ve been obsessed over the past few weeks and I’m very intrigued
Hopefully you will watch some more of Ren. He is one of the most real and genuine artists that I have seen for a long long time, and extremely talented.
Love Ren. He's so talented. I pray he gets the recognition he deserves . He's amazing
I can’t wait to watch more of your reaction videos. I love your commentary and insight.
Put simple. Ren is the most creative artist I have ever come across. I'm 46 years old. Great reaction, you have a new fan :)
Its certainly more creative than sitting in a dull room picking holes in someone elses work
🤔👌🏻
I've watched like 7 reactions to this song and it never gets old. I am forever changed in the most positive way.
Wait until you hear him rap rap. And take into consideration that he produces all his own beats and does all his videos as live 1 takes. Respect.
Hungry, Genesis, animal flow and losing it are all 🔥 and bangers
Glad you found Ren, great reaction 👍🙏🏴
I'm a huge Ren fan, please please please do a reaction to Hunger, mind blowing, 7 or more cadence switches and wordsmithing impeccable! You will see what all the hype is. After that maybe Genesis or Chalk Outlines. Also has amazing cover of I shot the sheriff is band The Big Push! Welcome to the Ren Musical Revolution! He is so creative, unique, talented and a great humble person as well. Went undiagnosed with Lyme disease for 7 yrs and suffered greatly. You will see a lot of references to this in his music
Hi Ren falls under the UK Genre "Bardcore"
As mentioned many times already, Ren can Rap Rap/Sing/write/produce/play/busk/Live (this was a one take live performance)
I highly recommend
•Sick boi (sequel to hi ren)
•The tales of Jenny/Screech/Violet ~ full video (For more Bardcore)
•The Hunger and Losing it ( for Rens RAPRAP)
•Genesis
For Rens vocal ability...
•Humble feat. Eden Nash
•Chalk outlines feat Chinchilla
•How to be me feat. Chinchilla
•money game part 1 and 2
Last but not least Rens band The big push live busking jams
Your comments on creativity made me want to hear more of your thoughts. Liked and subscribed. Huge Ren fan here. Hope you cover more of him.
He's actually not a Christian, he's agnostic. He sometimes uses Christian themes or imagery because of a familiarity with it.
Absolutely love yoyr stuff man, Ren does literally every genre, would love to see you do, losing it or insomnia
Great reaction 👏👏👏👏Cannot wait for you to experience what this guy has to offer, it's truly breathtaking. Subscribed 👌
Genesis is one of his dopest songs in my opinion. Ren is an insane artist with a wide variety of story telling and talent to his voice and rap skills not to mention is writing
Please go down the rabbit hole of Ren's music. You will be amazed! And we all can't wait for your reactions!
New subscriber. You can’t go wrong with his catalog. It is extremely diverse. Ren is 🔥
I’m so happy you finally reacted to him. He is the most diverse artist I have ever seen. And is so good at everything he does
You should listen to 'I shot the sheriff' by The Big Push. It's Ren's band. Whole array of styles
Sir, you are most definitely going to enjoy Ren. Subscribed to watch the journey.
Next up by Ren: The Hunger, Animal Flow, Sick Boi... Also, Illest of our time. All bangers.
THE HUNGER! Watch THE HUNGER, you will NOT be disappointed. 🔥🔥🔥next level rap
I'm positive you gonna love "The Hunger", this guy makes his beats, raps and mixes the tunes also directs the videos..
