One of my favorite characters. So underrated. What I love about him the most is how pure and neutral he is. He’s not exactly good and not exactly bad he’s just a guy that has a job to do. He doesn’t question the WG despite them clearly having some evil intent and unfair justice system. However he also doesn’t abuse his power as warden and even protects the prisoners from serving any punishment outside of their sentencing. This means he will protect prisoners from being killed by his underlings, peers, and even higher ups. Impel down showed us two of some of the most noble OP characters. Magellan and Bon Clay.
Madara Who only wanted peace Magallen isn’t a judge. Yes WG does alot of bad but they also do their fate share of good. Also most pirates are criminals deserving to be arrested. At the end of the day Magellan isn’t overstepping his boundaries. Many people in his position would give other members of the WG a pass to take advantage of his prisoners. Let’s be honest nobody is going to fight for prisoners rights. Despite tahat he will still protect his prisoners from shiryu and is protecting Doffy from the Gorosei’s assassins.

I think Megellan's logic regarding the death's of inmates is probably along this line: These prisoners are here because they committed untold crimes and upset the order of the world. There are prisoners from level three down that have aided in overthrowing entire nations. They need to be held here either for eternity, or until the World Government decides their fate. The fact that they are here, however means that these lawless monsters are deserving of some form of punishment fitting the level of destruction they brought onto the unsuspecting, innocent masses. HOWEVER, the jailers are not the final arbiters, and therefore cannot dish out executions as they see fit. If the prisoners die because they choose to give up after being subjected to their daily tortures, that is one thing, and it speaks to how weak they really are. If a Jailer chooses to cut them down, however, then that shows callous disregard for the whole process, and makes them no better than the prisoners themselves. Impel Down may be a sadistic place of internment, but it is NOT an execution platform.

I think he will always be incredibly strong, because Haki probably doesn't deny who hits him to be poisoned. I wanted to see more of his personal beliefs 'though, hope he will be involved again in the main plot.
haki is completely useless against magellan, even if you hit him with haki and even if it did protect you, you still got the poison on you, so the moment you run out of haki to use or stop using it on your own, the poison will kick in and start killing you.
difficult question, i think magellan is probably at the level where he can just tank gun fire, if the bullet even gets through his outer layer of poison without melting in the process, worst case scenario you're just making him stronger by adding lead poisoning to his arsenal.

There are also characters able to simply change the structure of their body under certain conditions, so the Venom Demon looks more like Enel's Amaru, Moria's Shadow Asgard or Ceasar's Shinokuni rather than Awakening, even if the Impel Down staff seems very "familiar" with this power. Moreover, as many said, more than modifying the environment Magellan seems to emit enormous quantities of poison, with which he cover himself.
Magellan is the kind of guy who will always follow the official procedure. Shiryu and the assassins acted not officially and so he stands against them. The rest of the torture in impel down is the official punishment given after a "trial" in enis lobby so he sees it as justified
That sounds about right. If Doflamingo was sentenced to death Magellan probably wouldn't care even if he was ordered to carry out the execution. But Doflamingo was (seemingly) sentenced to life in the deepest pit of the world and that's what'll happen, even if the government changes their mind.
I think all level 6 prisoners are "awaiting trial" or waiting for execution, like Shiryu or Ace. If they were condemmed to life in prison, the whole "erase from history" bit would be pointless, but if they are waiting trial and that wait last until they die, it's diferent.
Captain Angamos Making a trial for someone you want to forget is rather pointless. And imprisoning them is pointless if you are going to kill them anyway. The exception to that was Ace, but he was just in level 6 for safekeeping. "Public execution" is the opposite of "erasing from history". I believe the reason they are kept alive in case the government needs them. The criminals thrown there are strong enough to be an officer in a Yoko's crew. They are the World Government's last trump card in case they are really in trouble, for example if they lost the War at Marineford.

Yes, you're right. Luffy was down and should've died according all laws of realism. So Buggy, Aokiji, Crocodile and Machellan are the only four that just as well killed Luffy.

I think she was more wondering why he purposefully fell on his back when he finally ran out of stamina and collapsed. He did it out of respect for his opponent which Brulee didnt quite understand, but by no means did he throw that fight, I think he simply was outlasted by Luffy. Luffy is used to taking hits way more than Katakuri is, and it's not unfeasible to think that while Katakuri is stronger and faster, Luffy simply has more stamina and managed to wear him down over time until the big guy finally fell

It's true that we don't KNOW assassins are after Doflamingo, but I think we can believe him when he says they are. From the World Govt's perspective, Doflamingo is one of the most dangerous men alive and is quite possibly the ONLY person on the planet who's been able to threaten them so severely and get away with it. The only reason they haven't executed him is likely because he'd blab their secrets before they could kill him, but him being in Impel Down Level 6 is pretty much the only chance they have to silence him covertly without him having a chance to follow up on his threats of releasing their secrets. It's also worth noting that, outside of World Govt members themselves, Doflamingo probably understands their MO better than anyone, considering he's had direct contact with them quite frequently, and actually was one and therefore understands their thought processes pretty well. So yeah, it might be true that we didn't see one of the assassins in a panel or anything like that, but I think when Doflamingo says there are probably assassins coming to kill him, we can make a VERY reasonable assumption that he's right. It makes logical sense and while Doflamingo isn't exactly a man of great moral character, I don't think he'd make proclamations like that, especially considering how well he knows the World Government, without meaning it.

I got swarmed by hornets in South Carolina when I was 8, what a coincidence. After I stopped crying I got angry and wanted to go break down the nest and my dad wouldn't let me (thanks dad), so I went inside and watched the Digimon movie. Then I got angrier cause that movie sucks.
He's one of my favourite villains but honestly, this guy is strong as hell. Especially with the recent-ish revelation that he's protecting Doflamingo from the assassins (who are clearly very good if they're able to, presumably, infiltrate Impel Down and also ordered by the Gorosei/Im Sama), his strength is underestimated. Practically a one-man army in that arc.
He is admiral level.. just that it was pre time skip oda didnt show the true power of haki back then, same case with marco. Strong character with haki which im sure megallan has.
A possible explanation to the poison/venom fruit name and attacks not being 100% venom or poison based: Maybe japanese does not differentiate between poison and venom like english does. German doesnt, venom and poison both translate to word Gift (funny how it means present in one language and poison/venom in the other)
It's the same for Czech language - "jed" Also I tried to use google translator (I know it's not the most reliable source but it's the only one I have) to check how it's written in japanese and if you translate venom it will give you 2 options where one of them is the exact same kanji symbol as for poison (doku) and the second option starts with the same symbol for poison and is followed by a symbol for liquid (doku + eki). So I think this confirms that in general japanese doesn't differentiate - they have a way to specify if they really want to but it is not mandatory.

I will always remember VX gas from the movie "The Rock" and that scene when Nicolas Cage tells the FBI director that It's, "very, very horrible sir. It's one of those things we wish we could disinvent." But besides that Magellan is a straight up beast lol, he may not win every battle but I feel he will always win the war with that poison/venom.
About the venom vs poison: Not every language makes a difference between those. I know German doesn't (we use the word "Gift" for both), and I think 毒 (doku) is used for both as well in Japanese. So yeah, that's just basically not an issue outside of the English language.
It is only now that it occours to me. The Totland arc was a mirror of the impel down/ marineford arc. Designed to show that the whole crew had developed enough to achieve victory’s like saving Sanji where before they couldn’t save ace. But to also power scale them as still being as powerless against Yonko in combat as they were against Magellan before haki.
I guess if the World Government went to use Moriah’s Kage Kage no Mi they’d use the shadows of the prisoners of Impel Down, would be very useful since most of them will never see the light of day again
I feel Megellan is about on par with an admiral. He could become an admiral if he really wanted to but he simply doesn't. After all being an admiral means commanding ships out in the ocean, having to deal with orders from above and having constant meddling. In Impel Down he's essentially in total control as the government doesn't really care what he does. There are a few inmates that he is not allowed to kill or seriously harm but most of them he can torment and torture however he wants. Also his subordinates are pretty much at his mercy and he can run the prison in any way he sees fit. As an admiral he is usually just following the whims of the world nobles and being surrounded by nagging subordinates who he can't just fire. He also will have a strong public face which means that almost all the time he has to conduct himself in a proper manner.
Man, Magellan had PK Buggy, Luffy, Croco and Jinbe running away... and damn near one shot BB and his crew lol he’s extremely powerful.. maybe on par with the Admirals tbh..

No, Marvels Venom has no poison based abilities. He's more or less just a brawler with additional tricks. Think Spiderman with limited Dark Shadow quirk. The Venom is just a naming pattern among most of the symbiots. If I recall there are ones called Poison and Anit-Venom.
The venom symbiote is an alien. It has the ability to take characteristics of the characters it binds with.. That's why he can shoot webs because it bound with Spiderman. And why he's crazy because he first bound to Deadpool.. But it's not out of the question that venom binds with someone that does have some sort of venom and could potentially retain that ability.

As you are talking about othrer lvl6 prisoners, i think even some people stronger than the ones that joined blackbeard were imprisoned there because when blackbeard declared that they needed to fight in the cells for who is standing last gets to join him, not all the prisoners that won joined because I think they were the kind of people that would never join somwone else (Captains, leaders...) and there was stated that there were other escapess that were stated to break out of Impel down lvl6, we will probably get to see some of them in the future either as friends or foes... I've wondered if Oda chose the name for Magellan randomly, he thought is was cool, or theres a reason for it. Magellan was the first person to circumnavigate the world. His conversation with Doflamingo may be a precurson to him becoming a Pirate himself. His powers along with Doflamingo's being used in conjunction would be absolutely frightening! Especially if his powers were awakened.
I also remember an older appearance of Eddie Brock where it mentioned something about how he got the nickname because he was "spitting venom" on the people he wrote articles about.

Yeah I have pretty much a divine hatred for wasp as well, when I was like 9 or 10 i was at a park playing under some of the equipment, unlucky for me there was a wasp nest under there, funny thing though only 1 wasp attack me, but it stung me like 3 times within a second in like almost the exact same area on my arm. Needless to say I ran out from under that place screaming and clenching my arm, not so much in pain, but in fear that the wasp was still on my arm so I was squeezing down to try and kill it XD.

The Next Pirate King we seen in Luffy Vs Ceasar that Haki help resist poison but can’t fully nullify the effects.

There are also characters able to simply change the structure of their body under certain conditions, so the Venom Demon looks more like Enel's Amaru, Moria's Shadow Asgard or Ceasar's Shinokuni rather than Awakening, even if the Impel Down staff seems very "familiar" with this power. Moreover, as many said, more than modifying the environment Magellan seems to emit enormous quantities of poison, with which he cover himself.
Magellan is the kind of guy who will always follow the official procedure. Shiryu and the assassins acted not officially and so he stands against them. The rest of the torture in impel down is the official punishment given after a "trial" in enis lobby so he sees it as justified
That sounds about right. If Doflamingo was sentenced to death Magellan probably wouldn't care even if he was ordered to carry out the execution. But Doflamingo was (seemingly) sentenced to life in the deepest pit of the world and that's what'll happen, even if the government changes their mind.
I think all level 6 prisoners are "awaiting trial" or waiting for execution, like Shiryu or Ace. If they were condemmed to life in prison, the whole "erase from history" bit would be pointless, but if they are waiting trial and that wait last until they die, it's diferent.

Making a trial for someone you want to forget is rather pointless. And imprisoning them is pointless if you are going to kill them anyway. The exception to that was Ace, but he was just in level 6 for safekeeping. "Public execution" is the opposite of "erasing from history".
I believe the reason they are kept alive in case the government needs them. The criminals thrown there are strong enough to be an officer in a Yoko's crew. They are the World Government's last trump card in case they are really in trouble, for example if they lost the War at Marineford.

Jimbe was in impel down to convince him to go to the war, Ace was in impel down waiting for his execution. So Ace and Jimbe were in level 6 to be released afterwards... but they are the exception, not the rule

I think she was more wondering why he purposefully fell on his back when he finally ran out of stamina and collapsed. Luffy is used to taking hits way more than Katakuri is, and it's not unfeasible to think that while Katakuri is stronger and faster, Luffy simply has more stamina and managed to wear him down over time until the big guy finally fell

It's true that we don't KNOW assassins are after Doflamingo, but I think we can believe him when he says they are.
From the World Govt's perspective, Doflamingo is one of the most dangerous men alive and is quite possibly the ONLY person on the planet who's been able to threaten them so severely and get away with it. The only reason they haven't executed him is likely because he'd blab their secrets before they could kill him, but him being in Impel Down Level 6 is pretty much the only chance they have to silence him covertly without him having a chance to follow up on his threats of releasing their secrets.
It's also worth noting that, outside of World Govt members themselves, Doflamingo probably understands their MO better than anyone, considering he's had direct contact with them quite frequently, and actually was one and therefore understands their thought processes pretty well.
So yeah, it might be true that we didn't see one of the assassins in a panel or anything like that, but I think when Doflamingo says there are probably assassins coming to kill him, we can make a VERY reasonable assumption that he's right. It makes logical sense and while Doflamingo isn't exactly a man of great moral character, I don't think he'd make proclamations like that, especially considering how well he knows the World Government, without meaning it.

He's one of my favourite villains but honestly, this guy is strong as hell. Especially with the recent-ish revelation that he's protecting Doflamingo from the assassins (who are clearly very good if they're able to, presumably, infiltrate Impel Down and also ordered by the Gorosei/Im Sama), his strength is underestimated. Practically a one-man army in that arc.

A possible explanation to the poison/venom fruit name and attacks not being 100% venom or poison based: Maybe japanese does not differentiate between poison and venom like english does. German doesnt, venom and poison both translate to word Gift (funny how it means present in one language and poison/venom in the other)

Also I tried to use google translator (I know it's not the most reliable source but it's the only one I have) to check how it's written in japanese and if you translate venom it will give you 2 options where one of them is the exact same kanji symbol as for poison (doku) and the second option starts with the same symbol for poison and is followed by a symbol for liquid (doku + eki). So I think this confirms that in general japanese doesn't differentiate - they have a way to specify if they really want to but it is not mandatory.

Magellan is one of my favorite characters in OP and finally a video with him from Tekking!
I will always remember VX gas from the movie "The Rock" and that scene when Nicolas Cage tells the FBI director that It's, "very, very horrible sir. It's one of those things we wish we could disinvent."
But besides that Magellan is a straight up beast lol, he may not win every battle but I feel he will always win the war with that poison/venom.
About the venom vs poison: Not every language makes a difference between those. I know German doesn't (we use the word "Gift" for both), and I think 毒 (doku) is used for both as well in Japanese. So yeah, that's just basically not an issue outside of the English language.
That‘s why it‘s always funny when somebody says „gift“ instead of „present“. I guess that you could call that an interlingual pun.
There's an important distinction there though, since diagnosing and treating venoms and poisons require different knowledge and tech.

It is only now that it occours to me. The Totland arc was a mirror of the impel down/ marineford arc. Designed to show that the whole crew had developed enough to achieve victory’s like saving Sanji where before they couldn’t save ace.
But to also power scale them as still being as powerless against Yonko in combat as they were against Magellan before haki.
I see it as more of a mirror of enies lobby.
I guess if the World Government went to use Moriah’s Kage Kage no Mi they’d use the shadows of the prisoners of Impel Down, would be very useful since most of them will never see the light of day again
I feel Megellan is about on par with an admiral. He could become an admiral if he really wanted to but he simply doesn't. After all being an admiral means commanding ships out in the ocean, having to deal with orders from above and having constant meddling. In Impel Down he's essentially in total control as the government doesn't really care what he does.
There are a few inmates that he is not allowed to kill or seriously harm but most of them he can torment and torture however he wants. Also his subordinates are pretty much at his mercy and he can run the prison in any way he sees fit. As an admiral he is usually just following the whims of the world nobles and being surrounded by nagging subordinates who he can't just fire. He also will have a strong public face which means that almost all the time he has to conduct himself in a proper manner.

Remember the Doki Doki no Mi is paramecia, meaning there’s no significant effect to the user if his poison would be struck with armament haki. Meaning learning and using haki wouldn’t help in the offensive capabilities against the fruit’s powers

No, Marvels Venom has no poison based abilities. He's more or less just a brawler with additional tricks. Think Spiderman with limited Dark Shadow quirk.
The Venom is just a naming pattern among most of the symbiots. If I recall there are ones called Poison and Anit-Venom.

The venom symbiote is an alien. It has the ability to take characteristics of the characters it binds with.. That's why he can shoot webs because it bound with Spiderman. And why he's crazy because he first bound to Deadpool.. But it's not out of the question that venom binds with someone that does have some sort of venom and could potentially retain that ability.

What would happen if Magelan was somewhere he could freely use his Red Demon Poison Death thing and also be completely shrouded by armament haki and have not Katakuri level of observation but at least a reliable amount. As you are talking about othrer lvl6 prisoners, i think even some people stronger than the ones that joined blackbeard were imprisoned there because when blackbeard declared that they needed to fight in the cells for who is standing last gets to join him, not all the prisoners that won joined because I think they were the kind of people that would never join somwone else (Captains, leaders...) and there was stated that there were other escapess that were stated to break out of Impel down lvl6, we will probably get to see some of them in the future either as friends or foes...

I've wondered if Oda chose the name for Magellan randomly, he thought is was cool, or theres a reason for it. Magellan was the first person to circumnavigate the world. His conversation with Doflamingo may be a precurson to him becoming a Pirate himself. His powers along with Doflamingo's being used in conjunction would be absolutely frightening! Especially if his powers were awakened.

Yeah I have pretty much a divine hatred for wasp as well, when I was like 9 or 10 i was at a park playing under some of the equipment, unlucky for me there was a wasp nest under there, funny thing though only 1 wasp attack me, but it stung me like 3 times within a second in like almost the exact same area on my arm. Needless to say I ran out from under that place screaming and clenching my arm, not so much in pain, but in fear that the wasp was still on my arm so I was squeezing down to try and kill it XD.
