Hailessilassie’s combination of progressive ideas, international diplomacy, and practical experience made him a preferred choice for many Ethiopians back then, who saw him capable of leading the country into a modern era without sacrificing Ethiopia’s sovereignty. After Lij Eyasu’s turbulent behavior, Hailessilassie was appointed (peaceful transition of power) and led Ethiopia with stability for decades. After Haile Selassie, the country didn't have a capable leader. As a result, Ethiopia and its people are suffering in civil war. Its unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity have been compromised. After Haile Selassie, we lost Eritrea and Djibouti, and currently, Sudan and Eriteria invaded parts of Ethiopian land.
