Great fly Alvin! I also found that if you didn’t double the foam up in the front this fly tended to soak up water and not be buoyant enough. I addressed that by supergluing another tab of foam into the front of the front flap just above the eye of the hook. I use the bottom edge of the glued on flap to prop the flap straight up :). I like your way because it’s simpler! Anyway, good fishing man and thank you for the videos!
Really nice tutorial! Great presentation. I used to tie the Gurgler years ago, when the body was balsa and the rest was neck hackles. This looks easier and I'm gonna follow your recipe. Thanks for this. Glad i found your channel.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing it’s weird, when you think on it… I’m a huge Gartside fan; he was my kinda kook . I’ve tied or tried most of his pattern and ideas along the way. But I’ve never done Gartside Gurglers. Thanks for this reminder. David
Alvin nice bug! I’m going to Florida and Fish for Barramundi. Do you know anything about this fish that may help out I’m doing some research on it. It’s a paided lake but looks really fun. If you want I will send you a link of the place🤣🤣🤣
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing Hey Alvin, neither did I, but I thought a word traveler like you would have the low down on everything. Keep up all the good content and you and the family stay safe 👍
Another super easy to tie fly that caches fish!
why no comments tried to wont let me was going to say is that 2mm foam not 3 mmm?
@@wildman2894 Not sure, I replied to 2 comments from you below. I just checked it's 3mm.
Great tying technique, love the double layered foam head.
Heck yeah! Another guide fly! I was just tying up some foam hoppers. Since the foam is already out, I will tie up a few Gurglers! Thanks Alvin!!
Awesome!
Nice, I like how you wrapped the first layer of foam along the shank of the hook. i wouldnt have thought to do that before. Learned somethin!
Glad it was helpful!

I tied a version of this fly I found in Fly Tyer years ago. Great fly! I’ve even tied them in sizes 8 to 12 for panfish.

Good luck!
Great video as always. I love your guide fly series! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I knew Jack Gartside. He was entertaining. He loved to joke around. He would be intrigued with the rabbit strip tail.
Oh man that's awesome. Thanks for sharing.
you look great in '71 camo!
Alvin demonstrates even the experts get the thread wrapped around the bobbin holder, not just me.
At least I didn't break the thread this time. 😂
It adds tension incase the spool is spinning too freely. If you’re talking about what I think you’re talking about
Foam abt size of hook gap is best
Thank you for sharing this pattern. Just subscribed. I’m going to tie a few in smaller sizes for bass and trout.
This big one works pretty well for bass. Definitely smaller for trout or even redfish.
I love your flies! Such a great attitude and the best laugh!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Keep on keepin' on!!
Thanks Alvin!
I'm kinda more into Stealth Bombers, but this is definitely easier at the vise!
That is true, I may try to tie a few Stealth Bombers, they sure do catch fish.

Hello Alvin. Great step by step video.
Thanks for watching!
Great fly and simple to tie, thanks. I tie better with a Howler lid also?
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the info. Seems simple enough 🙌
Glad it was helpful!
Great series on guide flies. I'm thinking of trying to get gurglers and other poppers to ride hook point up. Have you tried this? Any success?
Cool video. Thanks for the tie. Subscribed
Thanks for watching!
What type of foam are you using? I am new to fly tying and I don't want to watch my new creations die in the water! Haha
Just plain old 3mm foam from the craft store.

I don't know anything about them. Looks like a fun fish though.
