I was thinking the same when he talked about slowing down, we live in a fast moving world today that maybe we're not fully evolved to deal with without the use of stimulants.
@@pranakhan I feel you! I would say the same, however, I explored my creativity for about 10 years before smoking weed. I think using coffee, weed, alcohol etc. to gain some kind of effect is fine, but it seems like building a lifestyle around any one of them isn't the best long term move.
I agree, Chris. I have never been a coffee person and I gave up sodas 8+ years ago. Caffeine is just not a part of my life. Think I'm better for it. Hard to say. I do have some fond memories of being a kid in the 70s and hearing my father make coffee every morning. Hearing the coffee maker gurgle, smelling it. A few years ago I watched "13 Reasons Why" and was surprised by the teenagers hanging out at a coffee house. Then I learned that my nieces like to visit Starbucks and consume those special mix drinks. Ugh.
@@tblightningbolt8902 I'm glad someone else noticed. Before they said they were from California I was already telling myself they gotta be Californian.
I quit caffeine 2 years ago. It was a nightmare. The addiction is totally underestimated. Withdrawal was crazy. But it was worth it. My gastritis went away (I was suffering from gastritis for years, and all I had to do was quitting caffeine). It turns out that caffeine is very pro-inflammatory. My cardiac arrhythmias also went away. Started to sleep well at night. My personality changed: I became less nervous, less edgy, started to like mornings ( which I hated while being on caffeine), became a nicer, calmer person:). So I must say that you don't really know your real "self" until you get to know your "caffeine-free self". Today I eat occasionally small amounts of 100% chocolate, but it has very small amounts of caffeine.
This exactly describes my situation, but instead of cardiac arrhythmias, I had terrible hand shakes. People asked if I had Parkinsons. All that went away, and my sinuses also cleared up. I won't even touch chocolate now. I love the new me.
New challenge idea: Writing down 30 specific things you're grateful of for 30 days. I noticed when I started being vocally grateful for things a few year back, my overall mood changed to be generally a little more positive!
@h rrj I'm not sure which version of the gratitude list writing you tried, but what I found valuable was to write down five things you are grateful for each day. They have to be new things each day. But, it could also just not be your jam. Two other things you could try are Metta (loving-kindness) meditation or Tonglen meditation. You can find guided meditations all over the place for them.
I cannot tell you how many times I rewatched this video when I was trying to quit coffee lol It was nice just to know that someone else could share my experiences and I love the energy both couples bring. One of my favorite wheezywaiter videos of all time
I quit coffee in an effort to reduce migraines. The withdrawal sent me to the ER with a migraine only IV meds could help. That made it really easy to keep caffeine out of my life. I definitely underestimated how addicted I was even only drinking 1 - 2 cups a day.
Caffeine withdrawals can't send you du ER dude ^^ I'fe drinking 7-10 cups of coffee a day and i'fe quitted once for 4 weeks and the only thing that i got was that i was a little bit more tired in the morning and a headache for 3 days. I have migraine and caffeine is helping against it, atleast for me, but i mainly drink it because i love coffee ^^ From 1-2 Cups a day you normally shouldn't get real withdrawals. Even from my daily intake the withdrawals are nothing, only anoying.
kuessebrama Oh wow thank you random person on the internet, I’ll have to call the medical professionals and let them know it wasn’t actually caffeine withdrawal that sent me to the ER with the worst migraine of my life. They’ll be so happy to know their numerous years of medical experience are useless and they could have just asked you!!!!!!
@@RyanL0918 yeah it could be that you have the withdrawals and then during this time you've got your migrane and it was worsening it, but normally caffeine withdrawals does not get so extreme. Even if you drink exessiv amounts.
kuessebrama COOL THANK YOU I’ll update my message to the emergency room physicians and my neurologist and let me know this vital information!!!! So glad I now know that my migraine wasn’t triggered by caffeine withdrawal thanks to anonymous person on the internet!!!!! What would I have done without this information!!!!!!!!!!!
I find it extremely funny watching people go through exactly what I did when I quit Caffeine (3 years clean). I remember when the head pain was finally relieved. I was hiking in Hawaii, a monster hike, to the point where I was taking a break every 5 steps. I left part of my soul on that hike lol! My head just cleared up, and I felt .................. free. It was amazing. Now I have more energy than caffeine EVER supplied me with.
@@josef7988 So, it took about 2 months. However, I did not kick it cold turkey. I sub'd in caffeine pills and every week I dropped the dose. Till Hawaii, and I was on like 25mg and quit 100% Then it took a week or so. Even at 25mg, headaches where real sucky. I think the energy output during the day helped finally kick it. I kid you not, I was dying on that mountain lol, and then in seconds after a few deep breaths my headache just faded and my mind and focus were just............clear lol.
They could even go hardcore mode and dumpster dive instead of buying groceries. I got a friend who only spent for house expenses (so including water and electricity) for a whole month haha. She would trade stuff with friends if she needed things she couldn't get from the dumpsters, like flour or oatmeal.
@@emlyndewar Bit of an understatement. You can have horrible muscle aches that make you bedridden, headaches and migraines like you wouldn't comprehend if you haven't felt them to that extent before, sleep for 12 hours and still feel absolutely exhausted. It's no joke at all
Breedlove00 I’ve done it many times. Get back to a base level, but always slowly/surely I’ll start drinking too much coffee again. Stopping cold turkey just isn’t a good way, to do it. Slow it down then do the month, remembering to drink water in place of normal hot beverage!
@@emlyndewar Yeah, I did it for nearly a month earlier in the year, as I'd been a daily drinking for 5 or so years. Was curious to see how I'd feel returning to baseline/normal, but was not worth the 2-3 weeks of agony. Ended up not feeling much different once all the symptoms had gone anyway, so went back to it as I feel generally better / more energetic with it.
I had a friend who is an amphetamine addict. After two years on not using drugs, he comes in to the realization, that he has more energy and feel better and happier after his drugs. So he decided to going back to using again. I know that it is not the same, but i can see some similarities. The true is that life without stimulants will never provide as huge dopamine release as drugs (including caffeine). The lesson is that some doors is better left unopened. As you experience instant extra release of pleasure after drugs, you will never be equally happy without it like you were before, because the bar, which represents your normal everyday state of wellbeing, is hanging so much higher. It's your decision, if you want to drink cafe to the rest of your life to be able to feel "normal"? But I think that the fact that I have to consume caffeine, to be motivated to everyday chalanges, should be alarming. Regards from Poland ;-)
For every time that you feel uplifted, there is the possibility of feeling down as well. So the problems with caffeine to me are the mood and energy swings. Instead of having a lot of energy at the start of the day and having it decline slowly, you will feel energetic mostly after having coffee. This is just like a regular drug addiction if you ask me.
Yeah, it won't make you all bubbly and positive, that comes from within and everyone's different. What you gain from going free is discipline. But it will improve your health
You should do an art one or music one. See how much you might progress by doing one (the same one every day) creative thing per day for like. 15-30 minutes. Like painting or drawing.
I quit coffee about 18 months ago because it really wrecked my digestion (let’s just say it, diarrhoea!) and I can say it definitely took more than a month to feel “normal” again. The main benefit I see now, besides much better digestive habits, is I don’t have the 3:30 afternoon crash like I used to, I can get through the whole day at work without feeling like I need another boost - tea, sugar etc - in the afternoon. But if you don’t have any real reason to quit coffee then don’t!
I quit caffeine cold turkey, and I had "the stares" and headache for a week. The next week I was just really tired and had a headache. After that, I loved the no caffeine life! It's just natural energy. I slowly got back into drinking coffee because it is just so addicting, but you've inspired me to quit cold turkey again since I don't have to go anywhere anymore lol.
Any time I go a day without caffeine I get a terrible headache that turns into a migraine...I don't drink coffee though it's Mountain Dew or tea...I have weaned myself down to nothing but I don't like water and always end up going back to pop or tea
This is why I never started drinking coffee. Sure, I've had it once or twice but never made it a habit because I know I'll get addicted and it'll be hell to get off it. I don't wanna be one of those people that can't function without coffee. I do love the smell of it though.
I gave up all caffeine for about 5 years. That first week of drinking it again was Amazing. It was like cocaine. Second week I was addicted and again barely felt it again. So I just have to give it up for five years to get one week worth of effect :(
When coffee just isn't cutting the mustard, my personal trick is to crush up No Doz tablets with a mortar + pestle, suspend that shit in aloe vera gel & rub it into my hands. Sometimes I'll whack on a Nicorette patch, too, if things are particularly dire (such as when my periodic insomnia has decided to start acting up _at the exact time_ that I've really needed to perform, at work or school).
A lot of hardcore Meth addicts go into rehab for the same reason. after a few weeks, it resets the effects and they can use much less to get the same effect.
William Irving then you should definitely check out their No Alcohol for a month video...for science. I’m not telling you to quit or anything. It’s just an interesting video as well
@Hans Vdz you should check out their No Meth for a month video...for science. Im not telling you to quit or anything. Its just an interesting video as well
Actually I'm having bouts where I don't sleep for 24 to 40 hours, then sleep for 12 to 15. I've gained 15 pounds and have lost all motivation to be active or get outside at all.
I'm super-introvert and have been working from home for two years, and my socializing hasn't diminished that much, but still this quarantine has made me more tired and lethargic than usual. My extrovert friends have been hit hard. Depression and that sort of things. Especially those, who live alone.
"If I do quit again, it will only be to make the effects strong again" lol, spoken like a true adict. And the other couple the next day omg🤣 straight on cocaine talk. I quit caffeine years ago, its effect seem to be rather strong on me, once in a blue moon I'll have some. It literly makes me feel like I did 5 lines in a row, it hits me way harder than 'drugs' ever did.
Same bro sane, and people call me crazy. Caffeine is very similar in strength, though albeit dirtier feeling, than almost all stims. In fact, all stims seem to have somewhat of a ceiling effect. You can only be so stimmed before its just paranoia and anxiety, regardless of the chemical compound.
@@anticcp1143 You say that but it's tolerance. I use to drink 2 pots of coffee plus soda a day, and it did nothing. However after quitting caffeine for a few weeks, drinking a cup will give me a MASSIVE buzz and tons of energy, I have never done the white powder, but I imagine the feeling is close to that of a light dose of it.
When I quit coffee, I found the major difference was my second wind. I would typically work my 9-5 and be tired at the end of the day. I would workout and spend the whole workout tired, go home and be tired, then laze around until bed time. When I quit, I would still be tired after the 9-5, but at the gym I would get all of my energy back after a couple sets. Then I would get home and have reserve energy for cleaning and hobbies. Without coffee, my energy would be steady throughout the day and able to be boosted on demand.
That's a good point. I forgot that happened to me back when I quit coffee and diet soda. It was shocking how much energy I still had after work. It was a day/night difference. Now, I need coffee just to get through the day and I collapse after work. I don't think I have the willpower to quit, though. I don't know how to get out of bed without promising myself a cup.
I went caffeine free about 10 years ago and never looked back. No more anxiety, no more heart palpitations and no more mood swings. Not sure how I didn’t become addicted again after we had kids but there you go. Diet Coke caffeine free is my vice these days. Great video anyway dude, keep up the great work!
Manny Sahibzada I wouldn’t be so proud of replacing coffee for something like Diet Coke. At least coffee has some amount of antioxidants. Diet Coke has caramel coloring and sweetened with aspartame, and if you drink a lot of it daily, the phosphoric acid is also not good.
Awesome, I stopped my daily consumption of caffeine in December due to anxiety, I now drink decaff coffee (because I like coffee's flavor) and caffeine free soda.
The most infuriating thing is that whenever I go through withdrawals from caffeine my family will say “oh caffeine is only in your system for 24 hours so after that withdrawal will end” and people use that as a way to undermine a caffeine addiction. I got over my addiction a year ago after months of painful withdrawals and cravings, and I was told that it wasn’t a big deal because “two cups of coffee a day isn’t really an addiction” or “you can’t really call caffeine an addiction” which got me right back on the stuff because people were just making me feel bad AB it. Caffeine addictions need to be taken more seriously. It’s literally a psychoactive drug that can cause anxiety, insomnia, and heart attacks
If caffeine is in your system for 24 hour, than the withdrawal will start after that, not end. Until that point you have it, after that is your body realize, something is wrong. And that part is the physical addiction part, which can be really bad to break, but will be done in a few days, a week or two at most. But the mental part, the fact that your reward system was wired to that stuff, so without it it simply do not work, and need to retrain itself to work properly without the no longer present stuff.
Yeah it's an insidious drug. The Internet says 2-9 says to kick it but I'm on week 3 and still struggling to feel like "me". My sleep is getting worse actually, which just makes me want to go back on it even more.
@@kevinholt8298 DO NOT GIVE UP. I had to fight off the desire/craving for a LOOOONG time before I finally won over the constant craving. Do what I did. start drinking Roobios tea in place of coffee. I was surprised to see the results of this video. I cut caffeine a while back and was incredible for me. I feel better, I have more prolonged engery throughout the day, I sleep better at night, and generally have less anxiety and anxiety attacks. I was also on average drinking way more caffeine throughout the day though.
That's the thing about caffeine. It effects everyone differently. Caffeine even makes some people sleepy. For me, caffeine makes me feel tensed up all day long
@@mklives2 I mean different things effect everyone differently. I also do just have diagnosed generalized anxiety, which caffeine absolutely amplifies.
@@Stephanie-hc2up Could be that your worsened anxiety may be an initiation side effect from caffeine. I was also experiencing heightened anxiety when I first started drinking coffee which eventually went away over time. It is also common for some people to experience it when first starting marijuana, and SSRI drugs are also known to cause increased anxiety in some people during the first few weeks. So there is a good chance that a worsened anxiety might return back to its usual level with continued use of a drug.
Something similar can happen to me during days off from work. Even though, on those days, I should theoretically need less coffee (since I get a nice long sleep; unlike on work days.) It reminds me that coffee isn't just a way to get caffeine, but also a learned habit to relieve stress or distract my mind I suppose. Unlike at work, where I might be too busy to keep grabbing coffee to distract me from feelings of stress, apathy, etc: at home it's not an issue. Generally if you're at home, and you want a coffee, you can make it and drink it right then and there. Then couple that with many folks being on quarantine, where they might feel a combination of boredom and stress all day long: it makes sense to constantly reach for that coffee to comfort themselves. My usual method to grapple with this is to replace it with something similarly hot and tasty - but without caffeine. So that I'm satisfying that oral fixation without upping my daily caffeine intake too greatly. Herbal tea, hot cocoa, etc. (Though watching this video reminds me that yes, indeed, chocolate also has caffeine. Still way less than coffee.)
I missed Craig oh my God. I've forgotten about this quaint but incredibly entertaining channel years ago and I just got back. His humor just so sweet and down-to-earth and inherently inoffensive. Most youtubers can't relate anymore.
I used to have coffee everyday, sometimes twice a day. However, I stayed over at a friends for a few days who didn’t drink coffee, and I wasn’t about to go out and buy coffee lol. So that resulted in bad headaches and crankiness for days on end. I decided since I’d gotten that far, I would stay off it for as long as I could and see what happened. Fast forward a few months and now I’m an occasional coffee drinker. I like that I don’t have to rely on something to make me feel alright and get me through the day, and I don’t get with-drawl but I get the benefits. Only downside is it can make me shaky and all seeing as my body isn’t completely used to it.
I’m the same way. Nowadays half a cup of coffee sends me over the moon. It’s useful for when you’re down and need to get something done, but some times the effect is too crazy
I was a weight-lifter for a lot of years. When I hit 50 years of age I had an incident of irregular heart-beat after a particularly hard work-out. It persisted so I went to the Doctor and we ran some tests. He was all set up to put me on meds but I told him I would wait a while. That day I quit all caffeine drinks, Coffee, sodas etc. In less than two weeks my condition improved and I've not had anything but De-caffeinated drinks since. I have one cup of Decaf coffee in the morning and drink a lot of decaffeinated tea for a cool drink. One cup of regular coffee has 95 grams of caffeine. One glasswork of tea has 27 milligrams. Decaf coffee has about 7 milligrams while decaf tea has about 2 milligrams. I also gave up almost all sugar at the same time. I'm 79 now and I haven't had any heart problems for the last 49 years!

Sometimes I try to not drink caffeine, but honestly I just need stimulants to help me with my ADHD. When I go off meds AND caffeine my life is an actual trainwreck. Most people are perfectly fine with a moderate amount of caffeine, the problems can occur when you start increasing the amount because of tolerance.
Likewise, try B-12 tablets to fill in the gaps. Idk which brand you take, but I took Concerta before I aged out of my parents health insurance and could no longer afford it (generic made me feel sick for some reason). It's pricey, but it's timed released, and better than Adderall and Ritalin imo.
Ah man, I feel this (diagnosed ADHD as well). I take Ritalin and still drink 1 cup of coffee a day (if it's a heavy week it might be 2). Hell, I would literally achieve absolutely jack all without at least one of my stimulants. Sigh
Yeah I get this completely. I drink about 3 cups which is down from around 7 I had during college. I tried quitting couple of times (once due to quitting cigarettes) and I always just stopped functioning. My cognitive functions and memory suck even with 3 cups, quitting it all together is close to impossible.
I was looking to see if anyone was talking about ADHD! Coffee has always been too much for my system, but tea hits the sweet spot. I've been told that the caffeine in tea is absorbed more slowly by our bodies compared to coffee. Yerba maté is also great for when I need to concentrate.
@@robina.9402 I'm a tea drinker too! Coffee can make me nauseous or make my head spin, and I like the variety of caffeine levels in tea. That's crazy, i've never felt the effects of caffeine, it doesn't energize me, it doesn't wake me up, it's just like drinking a regular beverage. To be honest I even thought that it was a myth, but it's nice that it helps some people.

@Dingle Berry Honestly you wold fall over dead of a heartattack if you ever tried dosing caffeine in the same way people doses cocaine. It's just socially acceptable to do caffeine and highly stigmatize to do cocaine. In reality caffeine is far more potent and lethal.

I have been drinking coffee in the morning since I was 9. My parents bought me my own mug, which was this super-cute little half-size mug, & at breakfast when Dad was making him + Mum their coffees, he would make a very milky one for me as well. I think they just got sick of my hassling them for a sip of theirs, since it smelt so delicious. 😂 Never looked back.
I was drinking 10+ mugs of coffee a day, been on decaf 2 days and feel sooo exhausted, headaches and no interest in anything. Hoping to feel better after a couple of weeks 🤞 Doing it as apparently it helps with high cortisol and anxiety.
That's literally what an alcoholic relative of mine said while sober for the ??th time... In the end the alcohol killed him, but I assume coffee won't do the same to you.
I was a heavy drinker, drank every day without fail to the point of total intoxication, I gave up alcohol over night and coming on 3 years, over the last month I've tried to quit caffeine I could drink 6 to 10 cups a day of coffee plus several cans of diet coke.... I am down to one coffee a day substituted with decaf drinks.... This is so much harder than alcohol!!
Clearly. Felt like a kind of "first world problems", or "White people problems". It didn't even seem like they had crazy withdrawal symptoms or had an issue with it in the first place.
"I could drink a cup of coffee and all this would go away", sounds like a drug addiction. Every time I try to stop coffee I give up because I feel depressed.... I would really like to stop... By the way, if you are tired without coffee it's also because of food. You'll be more affected by food, coffee is not here to "hide it". When stopping coffee it's better to not eat sugar except natural sugar and stuffs like rice and noodles which make us want to nap badly.
Yes I’m experiencing this now I ate some white carbs and have been off caffeine a couple weeks and the carbs made me soo tired then I has ice cream and all that sugar made me exhausted
Stay strong! I resumed quitting coffee and today is my first day. I couldn't help eating sugar to " compensate"... But I will trade it for fruits... I hope I can last a long time without coffee!

I really wish people doing these challenges would drink decaf instead. Everyone quits all coffee then tells everyone not to quit cause they miss the flavor lol. I was a 30oz mug a day drinker of full caffeine cold brew, and switched to decaf because (surprise) that kind of thing made my already anxious self MUCH more anxious. That was last September, and I’ll never go back.
Decaf still has caffeine. It's just a little, but it could be enough to make the experiment useless. They already tried to avoid chocolate as well. If you are drinking decaf now, you are essentially microdosing caffeine.
Shalama_ absolutely, but it’s nearly nothing compared to full strength coffee, let alone cold brew and espresso drinks. Drip coffee can contain upwards of 70 mg in a single cup, where decaf is around 7 mg. In Craig’s case it would take his average intake from 140 mg to 14 mg daily (assuming an 8oz mug was all he was drinking, and my favorite cup is 15oz lol) which is SIGNIFICANT. The average healthy adult can handle up to 400 mg of caffeine daily without experiencing dangerous side effects, so he’s still fine at 140mg, but I just think it would make a fairer video.
@@Shalama useless? So you mean like there's no difference? In this example cutting back 90% of caffeine that's how useful it is, being 9 times closer to caffeine free than previous consumption

I quit caffeine and I actually enjoy other people's presence and enjoy music differently. I feel so in tune with my surroundings. You can't really enjoy life when it is fast-paced. Having a caffeine all the time is no different than running a marathon.
A quit a little over a month ago. My sleep massively improved and my digestion seems to be getting better. Mind you I've been drinking 2-3 cups of black coffee while intermittent fasting for almost 4 years so I think my digestion will probably need more time to get to 100%. Also energy level feels more balanced. I don't experience a mid day crash anymore. I don't think I'm going back
Heck, thanks for that! My life mirrors yours... 2 cups black coffee, midday energy crash, slight digestive issues and IF. You've convinced me to wind down and dump the coffee, more than the video.
@@niallwildwoode7373 yeah my digestion has gotten a bit better, but i think it still isn't where it needs to be. This could be partly since i switched to a more meat based diet at the start of 2021. Every time i try to include more fiber/starch foods into my diet i get bloated easily and it seems to just fly through me. Eating mostly meat i am able to digest it all of it no issues and i feel better overal. I've switched to Tea and some days i even forget to drink it so my daily caffeine levels are no where close to what they used to be. My sleep is A LOT better which has improved the quality of my life overall. I will say i tried a cup of coffee last month for the first time in almost a year and i legit felt high. It was an incredible experience and man oh man, i already know why i got addicted in the first place. The next day i felt really sluggish and was craving that coffee high experience so i decided it wasn't worth it and just got back to my regular routine. Goodluck Niall 👍 The first month of quitting is the absolute worst.
When they got back on the coffee it did look a bit scarier than I expected it to, a little more like a drug addiction. Congratulations on completing your challenge though 😂

I gave up coffee for both of my pregnancies. I missed it the whole time! When I look back, I don’t think that it made much of a difference not having it. And I also thought that craving it would surely go away after that long, but it didn’t. As soon as they were over I starting drinking it again.
Except the human body rapidly becomes tolerant to opioids so more and more are needed to achieve the same effect. In addition, opioids have serious side effects. Coffee doesn’t.
Coffee addicts everywhere were hoping to find more motivation to quit coffee here. What it might suggest to some, is that poor digestion, poor sleep, and additional anxiety is worth it. Maybe one year without coffee would be a better test. I drink.. 8 cups before noon everyday. As you can imagine, I'm having all of these issues and need to cut it out. I'm going to step down gradually. To all trying to cutout caffeine, I believe we are all better off without it if we can get over the hump which seems to be longer than 30 days. I'll find out for myself (post holidays =). This was a well made and honest video which is much appreciated. Thanks to all involved.
I watched this while having my morning cup of coffee and I went from "I should stop drinking this" to "Nah doesn't seem worth it" like 5 times during this video. What a ride.
You should have a week of nostalgia where you play one thing each day that you haven't played since you were a kid and eat all of your favorite childhood foods that you feel too grown up to eat now that you are adults.
I actually want to do this challenge myself because I've learned that I'm sensitive to caffeine, so having more than like one cup a day makes me feel stressed, high heart rate, high blood pressure, the digestive troubles, restless when I'm trying to sleep, and I generally feel crummy when I've had caffeine.
Gave up tea and coffee about six months ago, got the headaches, lack of energy, depression, weird sleeping pattern etc. Replaced with natural green tea, love it. Six months on and don't miss it at all. Great job guys, look like fun people😁😁

My daughter has had IBS for years and found out quitting coffee the IBS was much better..
This exactly describes my situation, but instead of cardiac arrhythmias, I had terrible hand shakes. People asked if I had Parkinsons. All that went away, and my sinuses also cleared up. I won't even touch chocolate now. I love the new me.
I suppose it varies from person to person.
I quit for six months and after a couple of weeks caffeine free I felt awesome. Then started to drink it again. Why? Because I’m stupid 😂😂😂😂

I quit coffee in an effort to reduce migraines. The withdrawal sent me to the ER with a migraine only IV meds could help. That made it really easy to keep caffeine out of my life. I definitely underestimated how addicted I was even only drinking 1 - 2 cups a day.

The main benefit I see now, besides much better digestive habits, is I don’t have the 3:30 afternoon crash like I used to, I can get through the whole day at work without feeling like I need another boost - tea, sugar etc - in the afternoon.

But the mental part, the fact that your reward system was wired to that stuff, so without it it simply do not work, and need to retrain itself to work properly without the no longer present stuff.
lol your moron family doesnt understand how drug withdrawal works at all

I was addicted to coffee from the age of 5. I had to give it up cold turkey when I was pregnant because it was affecting the baby's heart. Withdrawal was so hard! After giving birth I never went back. I didn't want anything to have that kind of power over me. The baby is now 23. Love your videos.
Since five? I have 6 hours without coffe
We're trying to get pregnant and I just learned you need to stay away from caffeine :( I'm not a coffee drinker, but I do usually enjoy a cup of black tea in the morning and my mug of green tea with lunch. I'm only 2 days into no caffeinated tea and the order of various rooibos teas I put in isn't getting here fast enough!
I used to drink at least 3 cups a day and cut down because we were trying to get pregnant. Now that I'm pregnant my body doesn't even want it. It's been months and after the withdrawal ended, my days felt so much better! Now I smell it and I like the idea of it, but I can't stomach more than a sip.
6 months no caffeine or stimulants. Best thing I did. Caffeine can mess you up especially if you are a slow metaboliser. Check genetics

Can you elaborate on that ?
@@MrNutritionFreak If you are a slow metaboliser it stays in your blood for up to 24 hours. Meaning if you keep drinking lots of caffeine your body won't ever clear it from your system. A build causes anxiety and depression
I'm a very slow metabolizer. I'm sure now that the caffeine stays in my system much longer than for a typical person. Liver function determines this.

Tea has less overall caffeine but also contains other stimulants that are in the same family of molecules and an amino acid that kind of helps to balance everything out. Also, it just tastes better haha

The increased "effectiveness" of coffee after restarting only lasts for a few weeks to a month. After that you'll once again feel like you need to drink more to make it work like it did when you restarted.
Exactly. After few weeks it only brings you back to baseline and there are no benefits, then you have to drink it just to be normal.
I had to quit caffeine due to a panic disorder I was recently hospitalized for. In the long run I'm much better for it. My pulse is steadier and stronger, and honestly it's incredible to not have to go throughout the whole day thirsty for it. I don't drink soda, I don't drink caffeinated teas, I don't drink coffee, and once I got over the initial withdrawal I feel amazing.
That's crazy, i've never felt the effects of caffeine, it doesn't energize me, it doesn't wake me up, it's just like drinking a regular beverage.
To be honest I even thought that it was a myth, but it's nice that it helps some people.

By the way, if you are tired without coffee it's also because of food. You'll be more affected by food, coffee is not here to "hide it". When stopping coffee it's better to not eat sugar except natural sugar and stuffs like rice and noodles which make us want to nap badly.

I work at a grocery store, and sometimes I stock the coffee. And I can tell when I'm stocking decaf bc it smells like farts. No joke.

That literally sounds like an opioid addiction
