#1 I don't think dropping the "promise of marriage" bomb at this time was much help. (Maybe Masato and Meg were already dating or at least they could be close to it. She had no way of knowing.) #2 She doesn't seem to have done anything since the last time Meg saw them together and then she ran away. If her purpose was to help her friend, shouldn't she have somehow felt guilty or otherwise willing to do something more to help her friend resolve the situation?
