    Nice old Jeep, appears solid. I have a 1966 Jeep J - 2000 with the AMC 232 straight six engine and 3-speed transmission. Your J - 3000 is the heavier model and looks like it might have been an 8'-0" pickup body, mine is a 7'-0" body. I did a major overhaul of the truck in 1993 and replaced the frame from the cab back and found a replacement pickup body from a 1977 Jeep that fit perfectly. I could not find a tailgate so I made my own. The nice thing about those J - series Jeeps was that the body style had very minimal changes from 1963 until they stopped production of the trucks in 1988. You should be able to find a replacement pickup body in a junkyard - perhaps in California where they do not rot out. I recently had both front springs replaced and front shocks as well and the spring purchases and brackets came from a California Jeep junkyard and were in excellent condition. My truck used to be my Dad's and is still my winter snowplow truck. Good luck with you project, hope you get it running.

    It's awfully hard to find any body parts used I don't rest of the way for those Jeeps. I've seen a couple of beds out there that were decent. Remember right one is in the southwest and Evelyn within Texas maybe it was at Joe Auto Salvage. Number years ago friend of mine had one of those and have flatbed on it in the truck is painted a crisp White. No pearl nothing fancy acrylic enamel single stage one coat. It looks really nice. I have a couple of wagoneers I think the 1964 same body style. I've had forever. Pretty costly definitely one of those you put ten times as much in it as he could ever get out of it. So I would pass. If you really like that body then put it on a newer frame Dodge Chevy Ford whatever you like

    • @flatbrokegarage
      @flatbrokegarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've been fighting with trying to get it started. It has the 327 and the starter has been discontinued. The one on it has been cracked and repaired. I sent it out to be rebuilt so we will see

    • @CAROLDDISCOVER-1983
      @CAROLDDISCOVER-1983 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flatbrokegarage saying it's a 327 but who made it? When anybody says 327 first thing that comes to mind is Chevrolet. Because that's all-time favorite small block. But looking at that engine with the valve cover bolts going down to the center of it. What looks to me like a Ford motorcraft carburetor on it. So I was wondering about it because frankly I don't know of anybody else who made a 327. But everyday I strive to learn something new so maybe this will be what I learned today. If that truck runs and it moves under its own power. There's most of the battle. Is actually to Jeep wagoneers and they both have six cylinders in them. I know very little about Jeep. I do know on the six-cylinder back then that they like to JumpTime on the distributor 180 out. I can explain why but the fixes simple you take the distributor you turn it 180 back and it runs again. Just something look at when you get a little farther along just in case the V8 does the same thing. The man that I knew that knew everything that was about those Jeeps well he would be about 120 if he was still alive. That was a long time ago I knew him. But there is a collectors market for those trucks. That's why I understand. Although I would stay away from it or at least try to that truck is very interesting as well because you know that's what they use in the old movies on the Safari movies when I was a kid they were older movies then. And they just always kept my interest I like the body style. Thanks for letting me know about the starter. It will be interesting to see how you come out on it. I will let you know if it comes to mind where I saw the other Jeeps. But the one with a nice box on it I remember it being the same basic style but it was newer.
