John Bluthal was such a brilliant foil to Milligan's madness in everything they did together. His role in holding this brilliant but often erratic comedy all together should not be underestimated. Looking at Milligan's work at the time could be a bit hit and miss with not everything working. It is good to see the best stuff still surviving and this one is hilarious. I notice a lot of the work that has survived seems to have Bluthal in it.
Absolutely! John Bluthal is still working and stealing scenes. He played Herbert Marcuse in the Coen Brothers film “Hail, Caesar!”, and was not at all outshone by the stellar Hollywood cast (George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Josh Brolin et al). His best comedy work was with Milligan, but let’s not forget Frank in The Vicar of Dibley. A brilliant actor, end of!
Gotta love a Jewish Tailor joke. Two Jewish tailors were chatting. "So, you've been on holiday, then?" says one. "Yes," says the other. "I've been to Rome." "Do anything interesting?" asks the first. "Yes," says the second. "I met the Pope." "You met the Pope?!" says the first. "What's he like?" "Twenty nine leg, slight drop right shoulder."
Python produced so much material and so many films. I agree that some of their skits weren't that funny. But many were very funny. But you cant deny their films. I think the python's far exceeded what SPike did; But Spike certainly started the ball rolling and is very funny indeed.
I'm shocked that TH-cam has allowed this disgraceful clip to be uploaded. You can clearly hear said out loud that most offensive of terms "traffic warden".
4:04 John Bluthal says 'orthanologist' for 'ornithologist'. It might well have been intentional, but something makes me suspect a mistake... Anyway, a brilliant performance, as always.
Seriously??? Amazed you bothered watching. Whose a clever boy then. Good grief. Laughter anybody???? Probably didnt even get the teen joke busy being a smart arse. Or should I say turn
John Bluthal also did a marvellous impression of Huw Wheldon, who produced and presented arts and other documentaries and became a BBC controller. Bluthal captured the slow, pretentious voice and movements. Despite that, Huw Wheldon produced excellent programmes, far better than the woke, even more pretentious but empty Scheiss of the BBC today.

Youth of today would know the meaning of "John Thomas".
Hughie Green was apparently Paula Yates mother. It’s so weird. When she found out she went quite mad.
Hughie Green proving that men CAN have babies, hey?!!
The woke cretins of today are onto something then…
“And I mean that most sincerely folks!”
Huh??
I would go mad if I found out Hughie was my mother 😂😂
You call that a lining!
The clapometer
Black face and throttling a pensioner. I can't see that working out on Xfactor.
His take off of an indian is a direct plot, because he was born in india, and live there for many years.
A one off
Black Panthers recruitment film.
Some of his sketches didn't make sense, I guess that's why they were so funny

vic reeves copied spike slavishly
And Spike watched the Big Night Out series and said he thought it was the funniest thing on tv.
I didn’t realise how naughty this is I wouldn’t have shared if 8 had known 🧐
