Great live episode today! Not sure if this has ever been done, but I’m wondering what “a day in the life of Kimberly “ is like. With running a business, 4 kids (in the younger side to boot), all the sewing you do, kids activities, etc., I’m just curious what her day looks like. Does she sleep? Who cooks meals, house cleaning, does she workout (she looks pretty tiny), how much does she work from home vs in the office, etc. It’s inspiring to see her do so much! Maybe she could do a little info thingy at the end of a future Live episode similar to today’s Top 5 item. Thank you.

Reminds me very much of Stack & Slash (not Whack)....When I was first learning to quilt, someone explained the concept to me and it was the first quilt I finished..second one I started. No paper, you just stack and cut someplace, rearrange the fabric, sew together, cut again..and so on.....This looks like great fun, too....
Love it as always! I made a stack and whack quilt with 15 inch blocks using three sets of 15 fat quarters each. Lots of work. I love Lori Holts new papers!! SO much easier. Thank you. Wish I was able to quilt with all the quilt along groups you have. I think I much be slow!!
Kimberly, you were so precious today! I am traveling with hubby today and I had 1 ear bud in watching you while traveling down the road. Hubby had no idea I wasn’t paying attention to him. 😏. While atop Grandfather Mountain in western NC, I mentioned to a lady that I missed being in my quilt room today. Well, this 20 something year old guy ask where I buy my fabric because his mother quilts and she was having trouble finding quilt shops. I told him to tell his Mom to go to Fat Quarter Shop.com and she could trust the fabric quality and find any thing she needed. Soooo, FQS has made it to the east coast. 😍😍😍

Missed ya,live! Was out of town. Great projects! My long armer told me to start using 1/2 inch seem on my back. Strengthens/reinforces the seam when they put it on the rollers. So I do that now. She told me she has had to reset some seams since they came apart. Not any of mine but just in general.

I did not get to watch the live stream live as I was at a quilt retreat. It may be too late for my opinion about the fabric bundles for the bee quilt. I like the idea of the bundles. I have mixed feelings about the background, as I think the quilt would look awesome maybe with a black or gray background. Is the idea behind the starter bundles to give you enough fabric for a few blocks? I LOVE your live stream videos - Kimberly, you are so real and up front, never judgmental or pushy. I love the interaction you have with Lily and the rest of your staff. FQS must be an awesome place to work!!

You could make a scrapy piece of material by gluing scraps on top of a muslin then free motion to hold them down.......makes great totes for hauling goodies and you’re just repurposing scraps.
I made gift bags for Christmas gifts that keep on giving all year long.
One I put a toaster in with homemade bread....another had old books and a neck light for a granddaughter.....

If you want the smaller squares without waste maybe trim the Lori Holt paper before cutting fabric.

Years ago when I first started quilting I came across a pattern like this.. I don't remember where I found it but I was making charity quilts for children and this was a quick and easy way to make many of them. I made cardboard templates and cut my fabric out using the templates. What a great idea to use the paper templates.. much more accurate than the ones I made, and you can actually use more than one layer of fabric when cutting them out.. just mix the fabric up by putting one piece of fabric on the bottom, the 2nd one put 2 pieces on the bottom.. the 3rd, put 3 pieces on the bottom and the same for the 4th and the 5th.. that way none of the fabrics will match when making that block.. but instead of getting one block you will get 5. I will be using these papers from now on, thank you for the wonderful video.
Lori's paper is similar to the Buggy Barn patterns but we don't have to trace the pattern on our own freezer paper. YAY!

Love baptist fan pattern. My grandmother use to have quilting bees when I was little ( I am 62 now )and all the hand stitching on their quilts was baptist fan.

Personally, we LOVE our Juki, but are also huge fans of the Eversewns as they come with lots of features and are so accessible. If you're looking for a good deal, we recommend going to a local quilt show when one rolls into a town near you as that is where we have found the best deals!
